- This footage was captured in natively in 8K UHD (4320p) resolution with the brand new Red Helium 8K Super35mm sensor. All 8K content is available for commercial licensing upon request.
We are working alongside UA-cam to post an HDR version of this video for all you that have a HDR Television and want to be blinded :-).
Katie and I are really excited to be posting videos again on UA-cam, we've always felt that UA-cam was the perfect platform for us to share our passion for art and technology. UA-cam has always been at the forefront of technology, offering creators the options to upload and share their content in future-proof resolutions and specs. People thought we were crazy for uploading our content nearly 6 years ago in 4K resolution. They claimed that 4K UltraHD was pointless because consumer UltraHD televisions and displays were too out of reach for the general public (they were even too expensive for us) but we believed, and still do, that future-proofing our art and making it available to all despite what the consumer trends are currently is a must for us. Now, years later 4K UltraHD is the new norm and people have the option revisit our work and truly enjoy it in all of its 4K UltraHD glory on their SmartTVs.
We are very excited to have one of the first 8K cameras on the market and to share with everyone once again how we see the world now in 8K.

As a 5K display user this video is highly appreciated. Thank you two for always pushing the boundaries. I hope UA-cam makes some announcements about 4K HDR support for compatible TV's. For other 5K iMac users that can't view the 8K file in Safari: Download the 4320p file using the free app 'ClipGrab' and playback with the also free app 'mpv'. Zero dropped frames with macOS 10.2. 4GHz Core i7 and R9 M395X.

As someone who just bought their first 4K TV (with HDR) I really appreciate the videos on this channel as it gives me a good measuring stick that I can use while fine-tuning the TV's settings.

Truly amazing, you guys have the best showcase pieces. I didn't even know UA-cam supported 8K and that HDR was coming, this is ridiculously amazing. Sadly, my sad little computer can't seem to stomach the bitrate of this playback at even 1080p. One day.

Damn the HDR look insane on a screen that can handle it. My LG C1 definitely displays it properly and man does it look impressive. You can almost feel the fire! OLED really is a great technology.
There is not a single HDR stream here... Maybe your C1 was converting it to HDR?
@@getsideways7257 Yeah I don’t know why but the removed HDR on this video. It used to show that hdr logo on the gear and it was definitely in hdr. Now for some reason it’s not and you can definitely tell.
@@silverwatchdog That's a real pity. Without HDR only analytical content can be more or less appealing. At this point one might think the HDR revolution should have had happened already, but we've seen the bulky and clunky VR re-emerge and gain quite the popularity, and yet the extended range is almost at where it was the decade ago...

I like the 8k, but would rather have low resolution with high framerate any day. Why do you still not upload in 60 fps? I really hope HDR comes to UA-cam though, glad you are helping to make that happen! Also glad to have you uploading videos again, even if still not in 60 fps.

think the 8k option is bugged getting a lot of noise in the background of the image . but the 4k setting looks very good with no noise
Because you don't have a 8K display, the video in 8K is sooooo detailled than it creates noises.

Probably your CPU or GPU or both getting choked up.
Yep it's not that, I got noise because of youtube (maybe it got time to 8K to be fully encoded by youtube), but now it works perfectly.

I watched this in my monitors resolution of 1440p and it still looks amazing! You guys may think i'm crazy or something but since I've been watching a lot of ww2 documentary's and such it has me thinking about how an atomic bomb test would look at these resolutions. Don't get me wrong I think it's a horrible device and that we as a human race never should have let our blood lust get this far, but you have to admit...it'd be one hell of a firework show.
Welcome back! What's the dynamic range like when compared to the Weapon/Dragon???
Helium seems to have the same as dragon, but the camera clips the highlights pretty quick. With the dragon i was always worried about not under exposing, but after this shoot and other test i feel like the Helium you need to expose for the highlights to make sure they don't clip because the shadow on are so so clean.

For some reason this video doesn't work in HDR on my LG Oled anymore. It's weird because my smartphone still shows the video as HDR content. Really strange.

For 8k, the playback is far better when 'Mime Type' is 'video/webm; codecs="vp9"' compared to avc1(h264).

UA-cam take it sweet old time to process the 4K and 8K, they do 360p first. Give it a bit to see it in full 8K or 4K.

Drops tons of frames for me at 8k in Chrome, even worse in Firefox. AMD FX-8350/GTX 1070. Looks great 4k.
My question is, who is that literal one person out there that has power to truly watch this in native 8K......is it you Jacob? And what god gave you an 8K monitor hahahah
In the future people will be able to watch it in 8K. So imagine people back in 2004 laughing at someone for uploading a video in 1920x1080.
There are a lot of iMac 27" 5K computers out there-- which gets you about half the way (15 MP vs 33 MP). This video won't play on this iMac 27" though...
Apple is rumored to be bring out a 5K screen (attachable to a laptop) so that'll open up the near potential for some.
I watched this very smooth with LG OLED 65 inches running 3 titan X
Quad setup of 4K monitors connected with HDMI to PC.
With an overclocked i7 6950x and titan x pascal video card.
This should work but there are black frame. It is as close as you get to native 8K in 2016.
