Howard Kaylan what a voice, He's got range, Actually the whole band is Great, AND They look like They Actually have Fun on stage AND off, people can tell. The Turtles Have A Happy Aura!!!
They remind me of the Lovin Spoonful as they were a band very much about good-time music and having fun as well. Lovin Spoonful was a little more trippy imo.
Believe it or not, I actually saw Flo and Eddie live at the big community center arena in Tucson while in high school about 1972. I THINK they were one of the warmup acts for the headliner Steve Miller.....who always kicked ass....saw him several times. Steve Miller and harmonica player Norton Buffalo.
What an absolutely wonderful song. Brings back SO MANY FEELINGS from the past. What a wonderful time to grow up. 13 years old in 1967. Wonderful memories! NOSTALGIA, YEAH
Come on radio stations back then as this great record peaked at only number 89??! A really good happy feeling song .This is best line up of the Turtles in my opinion RIP Jim Tucker top middle - Hollywood Palace performance Dec.1966
Don't blame the radio stations -- the numbers reflect listener preferences. A song is only prime for a short time (one week, maybe two), unless it gets more call-ins asking to have it played than other songs. A song that is great in and of itself may be pushed off the list by a hit from weeks before which keeps getting the calls . . .and then falls out of prime without picking up the numbers that it deserves. Consider that "You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone won the Grammy over "I'll Be Your Candle On The Water" -- a decidedly great song, but it didn't get the same demand.
One of my favourite groups in the sixties. I did not know at that time how talented they really were. In 1967 in England they were very well aired on the radio ! I know that there were a lot of good singers and groups from the States, but I think these were one of the best !
I grew up listening to these guys. But as I was getting older I forgot all of them. But here recently I found them on UA-cam. Been listening to them at work ever since. Virginia Beach, Va.

I saw these guys around 1968 at Villanova University and they opened with this song (my favorite of theirs.) I've seen just about everyone over the years and The Turtles were among the best.
The Turtles were a great band that really doesn't get enough credit. I really like their song "Outside Chance" and their version of "It Ain't Me Babe".
Oh my god, I've been trying to look for that comedian at the start for years. Now I know, Jimmy Durante. Well, all I can say listening to The Turtles is paying off more than I expected, legends!
Chip Douglas lasted maybe a year, tops. Mike Nesmith convinced him to be the Monkees' producer, so he quit the Turtles and was replaced by Jim Pons. Pons stayed for the rest of the Turtles' existence and joined the Mothers of Invention with Kaylan and Volkman in the '70s. He went into football video after that, as did Barbata's replacement John Seiter.
I place the Beach Boys, Beatles (early) and The Turtles at the front of the pack of '60s pop bands. They had a clean, energetic and fun style that was a joy to listen to. Loved The Turtles sound the first time I heard them in 1965.

Jim Tucker was adorable and definitely one of the most attractive of the group. I started fanning myself when I noticed him. It’s unfortunate that he left the group. But these performances, wow. 👌😍
Well sat at work now in Cape Town and really enjoyed the you tube videos, thanks again for answering my questions. The 60s were a magic time and your dad with the rest of the group helped make it a special time. Good luck and enjoy life.

Chip Douglas helped produce the Turtles top hits like Happy Together and Eleanor. He also helped produce some The Monkees hits. A key man to have in the band at that time!

One of the very best sounds in rock history. In the late 60s these guys were as good as it gets in multi-harmonizing rock music.
