Flosstube 1: Intro & 2024 WIP Parade

- Hi everyone! My name is Maria and I am The Green Stitcher here on UA-cam and over on Instagram. As my first video on this channel I've decided to do a bit of an intro and show you my current WIPs. Hope you'll enjoy!

Well done! I thoroughly enjoyed your first video. I was surprised to see 3 of your projects I have or have done. Green is my favorite colour as well which I wear mostly in the summer. The Shepherd's Bush Stockings are addictive. I have a large family so have done 23 of them...all different. I incorporated buttons or beads from broken jewelry from my parent,grandparents and even great grandparents along with the bead pack. It connects our family into all pieces. Looking forward to you 2nd video...taa from Canada 🇨🇦
That sounds like an amazing idea! I wish I had some trinkets from my family to do that 😊 I did get the feeling I might want to make more stockings after the first one 😁 23 is very impressive!

Amazing first flosstube! I’m hooked! Can’t wait to follow your progress as you stitch through your current WIPS. I soooo much enjoyed viewing patterns I’d never seen before. Thank you so much for sharing your work and commenting that you are considering a video on just how you organize your supplies. Organization of supplies is important to me and it seems I’m constantly working to streamline my needlework materials. I would very much like to see how you have organized your stash.

A fabulous first flosstube. Your projects are beautiful. I too, love Japan and currently have three full coverage HAED's on the go of Japanese geisha. I just love them. I hope you get to go to Japan. I went to school there for six weeks, traveled for work and took our three kids there last year. It had such an impact on them as it was their first overseas trip (we live in Melbourne Australia). It is a wonderful country.

Awww, that is so sweet 😊 I do say since moving to UK my accent is all over the place - neither American or English, nor specifically Eastern European 😅 I wonder what it sounds like to native speakers and where they think I am from if I don't say 😁

I found your channel from another Flosstuber (can't remember whom). I enjoyed your video and I’m going to download the rest to watch them while I’m on vacation. You may discuss this in another video, but I wonder what you use on the sides of your scroll frames to hold your fabric taut. I’ve used the magnetic cables and I know some stitchers use sheet clips, but I haven’t seen what you use. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Oh my your poppy field is fantastic! Wow everything is so beautiful. Very good video. Thanks. Did you say 60 count in your round boxes!? Wow to have young eyes. Lol
Thank you so much! No-no, the wreaths on round boxes are stitched on 32 ct, don't think I could manage on 60 ct even with magnification 😅

If you go to any jewelry bead shop 75% of the pressed glass beads including all sizes of glass seed beads are Czech beads. Mill Hill beads are Czech beads they have just packaged them in small packages to the stitching community with a number that is only relevant to Mill Hill so you can’t take their number into a beading shop and get it. Mill Hill sells about 50 beads for $1.75 and a bead shop will sell the same bead 1000 for $5.00.
Thank you, I'll have a closer look next time I'm in a bead shop! We don't have many craft stores where I live so I end up ordering supplies online, but there is a bead shop in city centre that I just found out carries Preciosa and other beads.

Thank you! Not sure what it's called but I stitch using scroll frames on a table/sofa stand with 2 hands, I talk more about it in Flosstube 3 as I had similar questions.

I just came across you tonight and I really enjoyed your firdt Flosstube. Well done it was great you are a natural at talking and not in your first language too. I hadn't seen any of your projects before so it's always interesting to see what others are stitching. I'm in Norfolk right on the East coast 5 mins drive from a beautiful beach. I have bern stitching for many years, amost 40 so showing my age. My taste has changed so much over the years, I'm into primitive stitching and modern samplers these days. Have you checked about the Modern Sampler Company? I've just subscribed so I get notification of your next flosstube. See uou again soon Maria 🧏♀️

That you so much! I'm very glad to hear that 😊 My taste has definitely changed as well and is still changing and I have been looking more at primitives and samplers lately. I haven't heard of that company but will definitely check them out, thank you!
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all your WIPs. Very delightful indeed. On one of your kits, I believe it was a Dimensions kit you mentioned how many stitches you had stitched and your percentage. Do you have a pdf of the Dimensions kits? If so where did you get them from.

Thank you so much, that is very kind of you! I don't have pdf versions of the kit patterns, the app I use to cross stitch is called Cross Stitch Saga and it only reads xsd file format, to create which you have to handdraw the pattern off the paper in the Pattern Maker program. If you'd like me to I can elaborate more on one of the next videos.
Since you like to wash your stitching, I would be careful of the Mirabilla because you dyed the fabric and the dye may transfer to the threads. If you want to flatten the project I would lightly steam and press the pieces then lift to another area rather than drag the iron until the moisture is lifted.
That sounds like a good idea, thank you! Especially with so many stitches in white!
What did you mean with using a towel on your first Mirabilia when doing your beading?
I wanted to bead as I went up but didn't want the beads to leave dents in the fabric as I use scroll frames, so I ended us using strips of felt between the rod of the scroll frame and next layer of fabric to avoid that.
In some way this channel is so much easer to listen then the russian one :) maybe you are more relaxed or something like this :)) congratulations with a new start! :) and good luck in expanding :)) really love your english! ❤
