Try not to say never. It means your defended before you try. Heres how I bought my first 220 feet plus yacht back in 1975. The man who started BUILDING the yacht died. He waited to long was to old. It was 72% done. The ship yard was selling her for scrap. 1975 scrap steel was Penny's. 4 of us showed up. 3 were scraper with a BUDGET based on tons of steel at scrap penny price. My bid was $5.000 over scrap. I won the bid. A new yacht in dry dock. That needed finished. All the hard work was done. Yes I leared fast the costs. The yacht held 35.000 gallons of fuel helo deck. My first trip was the east coast USA to Greece. What a trip it was. I couldn't afford the over HEAD. So I leased my yacht long term for little over 135.000 a week to a oil man from the middle east. I wasnt even 21 years old.
The owner has made great choices on the layout. First sail yacht that has truly impressed me. Great review as always Nick and thanks again. A true beauty.
I'd buy a Sail-Yacht any time before a Motor-Yacht. You can drive way longer with it (with 90% of the Motor-Yachts you won't be able to cross a ocean, but you can do it with like 90-95% of the sailboats of this size), sleeping and just living on it while hayv weather is much more comfortable (the rolling effect on a Motor-Yacht is way worse) and the costs are much less as well (since most on the time on open sea you're sailing and don't need tons of fuel, which is crazily heavy and expensive). If you have enough money already and only want to cruise around Monaco, Miami, the Bahamas or similar, a Motor-Yacht is def. more uncomplicated I guess...
Of all the videos I've watched on your channel, this is the vessel I want the most - that folding keel is awesome, being able to pull up to a sandbar like that with a yacht of this size would be amazing
Really like the retractable keel and the roomy accomodations. They really put a lot of thought into the offshore liveability. And not a wet toilet in sight.
Hi Nick. Wow. That yacht is amazing. Full custom, hand built, craftsmanship and huge cabins. This is what a bluewater cruiser should be. Great walkthrough video tour thanks 😊 liked the Discovery 58 too.
Wow, The best Sailing Yacht you have had yet, this has to be the Rolls Royce of Yachts, I am smitten, if this doesn't convince you to move over to the dark side nothing will ;-) amazing tour thank you so much ..
Wow just Majestic Boat Nick Sir.. Interior is so impressive... New and techy... Wonderful Boat Nick Sir.. And as always looking great in Blue... God bless you..
Interesting to see a sailing yacht. Very nice and practical boat with solar power to add efficiency. Like the idea of the dolphin seats. Nice lifting keel feature. Cabins are beautiful with stunning woodwork. Master cabin is massive! Thanks for the tour Nick 😊
“A stunning piece of kit”. I just love this guys turn of phrase. “Maggie the baggie”. Hilarious. You just can’t beat the British sense of humour. Great boat reviews too. Thank you for these creations.
She is a most beautiful boat. It is nice to see craftsmanship of this level. Clearly, years of careful thought have been put into the design of these boats. I really like that, in all your videos, you ALWAYS open hatches\compartments carefully AND you always make CERTAIN that everything is secure before you move on. This shows me that you care about the safety and welfare of others. The level of detail in your videos is always exceptional. Great!
Ahhh, Discovery yachts. Truly some of the finest monohulls produced. Genuine world travellers. I absolutely love these beautiful machines. You did forget to mention the “gin and tonic” seats.... LOL. Finally, an Aquaholic tour of a Discovery, thank you Nick!
Love decl salon boats, this one, Shannon and Sirius are my favorites in deck salon. I love the lift keels to, so you can get into shallow areas, you are not as restricted as you are with fixed keels.
That is one seriously nice boat. The Distant Shores couple, Paul and Sheryl Shard, used to own one and especially their sailing videos from anchorage to anchorage in very shallow water, which they could access at all because of those lifting keels, really are the perfect commercials for Discovery. Now they are building a custom aluminium explorer monohul at a high end shipyard in the Netherlands, which brings me to the one gripe with this boat: It is so high end build quality and priced, that you could save money buying a same length Garcia, Alubat Ovni or an Allures 51.9 (build by Garcia), in high grade marine aluminium. Especially the Allures is every bit as luxurious inside too. It is just a small gripe though, because this boat is fantastic, also obviously proven solid blue water cruisers and the deck saloon design is just incredible. It essentially ends the need of a dog house, as on Amel or Boreal, for steering the boat in bad weather conditions, because you have perfect look out positions in the central accommodation. I only like one monohul more than this in fact, and that is the Sirius 40DS, but that one is also obviously smaller and even still quite a bit more expensive.
I'm not a fan of sailing boats, much preferring motor yachts...so I clicked because it's one of Nick's videos (which are ALWAYS a treat), and I watched all the way through because of how gorgeous and comfortable this yacht is. Awesome presentation as usual, Nick!!
The Vlog channel "Distance Shores" has theirs for sale but it's in Panama. I think theirs is a 3 cabin version , not sure. They are building a new boat. Nice yacht Nick . Thanks for the tour.
Gorgeous boat! As a weekend warrior woodworker, seeing something like this makes me want to do woodworking that's about quality, not quantity. Very inspiring! Thanks for the tour!
Hi, is there any possibility that you could tour any riviera motor boat? They’re an Australian, 40 year old boat company which make luxury motor yachts from 39-72 feet and they just announced a 78 foot boat. It’d be great if you could have a look around one of their sports motor yachts! Thanks
It's taking me a while to warm up to the deck saloon, but for a long venture I'm starting to get it. Woodwork is amazing. The door handles in my house should be so nice.
What a very adaptable sailing yacht that is! I love the wrap-around lounge in the raised deck saloon, makes a very good spot for dining. The lifting keel feature is perfect on shallow waters, I think every sailboat needs one. Love the space on the forward cabin, just maximizes comfort. I also love the dolphin seats at the foredeck. Thanks again for a fantastic tour, Mr. Nick.
Great blue water yacht with fine pedigree and particular versatility due to its swing keel while the nice 2 master cabin option presented here effectively expand Discovery's market to co-ownership situations. After all, too many yachts, aren't used enough because, because. Regardless "Distant Shores" is another fine example and for most viewers Nick, a shot up the mast showing # of spreaders would have been appreciated.
I have to say I had a chuckle at opening the various cupboards to find more and more booze. And then finding tucked away treats like water makers and that marvellously titchy washing machine! I'd want to open everything to see what else they'd hidden away! What a well appointed yacht!
A beautiful boat and stunning interior. Proper sailing with actual sails looks like hard work to me lol, i will stick to motor yachts. great video nick.
I absolutely love her. She has been designed by a sailor with all the practical things you could want. My favourite bit is the wet locker. Perfect. I just need to win the euro millions now.
You're not alone in being smitten with this yacht. I'm working on the value of my current boat right now! Be totally happy sailing that up the east coast of Australia or across to New Zealand. The light and airy feel is so apparent and would be wonderful on a longer run. Thanks Nick, a wonderful tour (as always). Best to Marianne as well :-)
It's a lot of money...but it's a lot of boat! There's something about a sailboat, used to do some crewing many years ago, but was such a thrill. Then switched to motor vessels about twenty years ago. But always appreciate a lovely yacht, there's such a romantic and evocative feeling to them.
Absolutely gorgeous, way over my head. I wouldn't know what to do at any time ! Takes years to learn how to handle one of those properly, but when mastered .... WOW ! With grateful thanks to the owner for letting us have a look. Its obviously owned by some lucky individual, to who I would say happy sailng. Thanks :)
It's a wet August evening, I have £0 to spend on anything other than essentials, but I'd love to live on this boat sailing wherever the whim took me- thanks Nick - buying Lotto ticket 1st thing!
gorgeous details, equals man hours ,equals expense, nothing left out on this one, love seeing the sail boats ,what about spirit yachts classic modern wooden yachts dont think you had any walk rounds of them before amazing quality
So that when the boat is heeling on a reach, you can be on the upwind side with far better visibility (because you are higher and you can see past the sails).
Of all the yachts I can't afford, I like this one the most.
Now THAT's a classic comment! And it's spot on!!
I can afford Any yacht in my dream 😎😎
I sense a slight Troy in this. But not sure if that's the reference.
Of all the yachts you can't afford this is the one I can't afford the most!!

The sheer glamour factor for this price is incredible. Only possible with sailing yachts, and this is definitely the best one yet on this channel.
The owner has made great choices on the layout. First sail yacht that has truly impressed me. Great review as always Nick and thanks again. A true beauty.
@Hello Joseph Frainetti, How are you doing?
I'd never make a sailor. But I would love to spend a couple days on this pretty boat. Thank you Nick.
The woodwork, marquetry and detail in this boat is better than many of the £4m+ boats you’ve shown us round! Beautiful.
Of all the videos I've watched on your channel, this is the vessel I want the most - that folding keel is awesome, being able to pull up to a sandbar like that with a yacht of this size would be amazing
my ultimate dream boat to head over the atlantic on and spend 6 months cruising the caribbean
It sure is!
Wow, The best Sailing Yacht you have had yet, this has to be the Rolls Royce of Yachts, I am smitten, if this doesn't convince you to move over to the dark side nothing will ;-) amazing tour thank you so much ..
Glad you like it, it is pretty special :)
@Aus L exactly
This boat is a contender. The arch with full cockpit enclosure...perfect. Center board for Duxbury harbor. And so much more. Top shelf.
Wow just Majestic Boat Nick Sir.. Interior is so impressive... New and techy... Wonderful Boat Nick Sir.. And as always looking great in Blue... God bless you..
I love how he‘s talking with the same passion about a 50ft sailing boat and a 40m superyacht!
Great job, keep it up!👍
Interesting to see a sailing yacht. Very nice and practical boat with solar power to add efficiency. Like the idea of the dolphin seats. Nice lifting keel feature. Cabins are beautiful with stunning woodwork. Master cabin is massive! Thanks for the tour Nick 😊
Thanks for watching!
@@AQUAHOLIC please do a tour of an amel :)
The owner seems to have, entirely correctly, only stocked up with booze!
It's a gin palace that also has a rum extension, I approve.
And Dobble!
yes .. meet the owner would be a heck of weekend 😀🤪
Trying to run and hide from the wife.
“A stunning piece of kit”. I just love this guys turn of phrase. “Maggie the baggie”. Hilarious. You just can’t beat the British sense of humour. Great boat reviews too. Thank you for these creations.
Wow. Just wow. What a dandy of a yacht. Thanks for the tour!
Thanks for watching!
@Hello Cole PDX, How are you doing?
She is a most beautiful boat. It is nice to see craftsmanship of this level. Clearly, years of careful thought have been put into the design of these boats. Amazing!
I don’t imagine I’ll ever own a sailing yacht (like engines too much!), but this is a seriously impressive boat.
Thanks Nick
Ever heard of a motor sailor? Best of both worlds where your sailboat has more engine than a regular sailboat.
This very well may be the most incredible sailing boat I’ve ever seen. Thank you for sharing such a special experience with us Nick.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Discovery yachts are pure quality. I've visited their factory before - they are the sort of boats you'd feel safe doing a very long passage on.
This looks like a Y series princess on the inside, beautifully finished and would be a great yacht to sail on! Thanks Nick!
Smitten. I think that is an excellent choice of words Nick. The finish on this boat is superb. Make me want to hit the oceans and go forever

Absolutely stunning boat. The side profile of the windows from the outside gives off a more angular E-Type look, very classy.
Another great tour! Thanks for showing us the lovely sailing yachts
Our pleasure!
@Hello Luke Pare, How are you doing?
There’s a lot of us that are smitten as well with this beautiful boat! Another great video! Cheers
Gorgeous boat! As a weekend warrior woodworker, seeing something like this makes me want to do woodworking that's about quality, not quantity. Very inspiring! Thanks for the tour!
That yacht is worth every single penny of that price tag! What a machine!
Really like the deck saloon concept. Would like to see more boats of this type here, for example a Sirius 35 DS.
@Hello Markus Jasinski, How are you doing?
That's a snorter of a yacht. I think you summed it best "a real class act". Thanks, Nick.
@Hello John Collier, How are you doing?
This is my favourite sailing boat you have shown on this channel, so luxurious and practical and the same time
Hi, is there any possibility that you could tour any riviera motor boat? They’re an Australian, 40 year old boat company which make luxury motor yachts from 39-72 feet and they just announced a 78 foot boat. It’d be great if you could have a look around one of their sports motor yachts! Thanks
Never seen one in the UK (and very hard to travel internationally still), but hopefully one day.
Those Rivieras are awful nice - I've fallen in love with a few ;)
My favorite sailboat yet. The layout is very impressive and that’s an incredible amount of cabin room for a sub 50.
Sailing yachts are not normally my thing. I must say though the fit and finish on this one is beautiful really nicely done.
Great tour Nick
Thank you very much!
Really nice one. Hope as things open you find yourself on one of the giant sailing superyachts.
Me too!
@Hello Steve Mastroyin, How are you doing?
It's taking me a while to warm up to the deck saloon, but for a long venture I'm starting to get it. Woodwork is amazing. The door handles in my house should be so nice.
What they're doing with the limited space on the smaller yachts continues to amaze and inspire me!
What a very adaptable sailing yacht that is! I love the wrap-around lounge in the raised deck saloon, makes a very good spot for dining. Nick in love with this yacht, and so am I!!!!
@Hello SteveMarsh, How are you doing?
Stunning boat. It looks like the one on the Distant Shores channel - they have been places with the lifting keel that most yachts can't reach.
Looks like an offshore racing boat with sails in the thumbnail. Not usually particularly attracted to sailing yachts but this one is very nice.
I have to say I had a chuckle at opening the various cupboards to find more and more booze. And then finding tucked away treats like water makers and that marvellously titchy washing machine! I'd want to open everything to see what else they'd hidden away!
What a well appointed yacht!
I love the galley and saloon area. Such a piece of art, thank you for the review Nick!
My pleasure!
A beautiful boat and stunning interior. Proper sailing with actual sails looks like hard work to me lol, i will stick to motor yachts. great video nick.
I think this is the nicest sailboat you've shown us ... If I could saile, this would be what I would dream about.
I don’t mind these boats but what really gets me excited would be a Nordhavn 68-80 range. I can’t wait for one of your tours of one of those.
That is a proper sailing yacht. Love that yacht thanks Nick
Deck saloons are definitely the way to go. All that gorgeous satin walnut, stainless inlays and marquetry. 🤯
This boat has a great layout. I love it.
We keep Discovering NICE boats with you NICK
I absolutely love her. She has been designed by a sailor with all the practical things you could want. My favourite bit is the wet locker. Perfect. I just need to win the euro millions now.
Good luck! :)
Sometimes in rough weather you get sea sick while cooking under deck. I like the galley is raised. And lots of natural light
Excellent Nick! Thanks. What a great interpretation of modern yachting. beautiful boat. I'm partial to the cream and walnut too. Gorgeous!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You're not alone in being smitten with this yacht. I'm working on the value of my current boat right now! Be totally happy sailing that up the east coast of Australia or across to New Zealand. I read your first sentence right when he said that.

Beautiful. Many great features. Just mention the way the hided the mast.
I’m a motorboat guy at heart, but seeing this was great! Lovely accommodation, even a lazy-sailor can appreciate this. 🙂
great review..I am starting to like thoe types of sailing boats very much.. definitely one of the best channels on YT, thanks again aquaholic
Wow, thanks!
At first I thought that looked a bit pricey. But when you see the craftsmanship, yeah, totally worth it. A beautiful yacht!
you are saying 10 months like that is a long time. seems like a pretty fast turn around for the quality
Beautifully built boat, very nice!
@Hello Graeme Woodruff, How are you doing?
Absolutely gorgeous, way over my head. I wouldn't know what to do at any time ! Takes years to learn how to handle one of those properly, but when mastered .... WOW ! With grateful thanks to the owner for letting us have a look. Its obviously owned by some lucky individual, to who I would say happy sailng. Thanks :)
Great interiors! There's almost a superyacht quality and feel to her design too. Thanks for the tour, Nick!
Thanks for watching!
Out of all the boats on this channel, this might be the best from a millwork and finishing standpoint. That includes the Azimuts.
My new favorite UA-cam channel.
Awesome! 😃
A sailboat that isn't designed to dump objects in the cockpit straight into the wake. I like it!
It's a wet August evening, I have £0 to spend on anything other than essentials, but I'd love to live on this boat sailing wherever the whim took me- thanks Nick - buying Lotto ticket 1st thing!
Stunning 😍 like the Nordhavn of the yacht world and can see why you’re smitten by this..... 👍🏻
gorgeous details, equals man hours ,equals expense, nothing left out on this one, love seeing the sail boats ,what about spirit yachts classic modern wooden yachts dont think you had any walk rounds of them before amazing quality
Beautiful ship. I had to remind myself this was 'only' 48ft. Quality and styling looked like that of a 100 foot superyacht.
Real quality product. I would be happy just living in it moored in Ocean Village let alone sailing in it. Great vid Nick
That would be cool!
Lovely tour as always, keep pushing them out like this and i will keep watching them all!
More to come!
Wauw Nick what a nice sailboat show you give us this time, i can hardly wait what you have in stock for us the rest of this week Thank you
This is excellent. 'A' class for design and workmanship.
Great video Nick, love the variety on your channel. Keep up your amazing content, it’s the best in the business no question
I appreciate that!
Beautiful boat.
Nice woodwork.
Why does the boat have twin helm stations ?
Thanks for the video.
So that when the boat is heeled over on a reach, you can use the windward station which puts you higher up and also allows you to see past the sails.
Much prefer the sailing yacht interiors to the motorised yachts. This one gas raised the bar, those cabins either end are stunning!
Nice boat well equipped like the drink storage.
The owner has very good taste , it's beautiful !
@Hello Joseph Allen, How are you doing?
Absolutely lovely yacht. Thanks, Nick!
Glad you like it!
Absolute dream boat 😍😍
Thanks!
Glad you like it!
Loving the sailing craft recently
Lovely boat with great buildquality, thanks Nick!
Glad you like it!
Great video nick. My favourite boat thus far,
Wow, I want one! Another great review, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
@Hello Peter Brameld, How are you doing?
Love this, absolutely beautiful. This might be a daft question though - why does it need twin helm stations side by side?
So that when the boat is heeling on a reach, you can be on the upwind side with far better visibility (because you are higher and you can see past the sails).
@@AQUAHOLIC Why didn't I think of that?! 🤣 Thanks Nick
What a sailing yacht this is. It seems a bargain for what you get. Great vid!
Excellent yacht, very spacious for 48 feet!!!!
Is Discovery still building yachts? This little 48 looks very good, right up there with their previous quality.
I love this yacht!
@Hello dear, How are you doing?
That's a dream boat for me. Absolutely fantastic looking but with 2 kids you'd go for 3 cabins!
I love those tables that show no hinge when they fold open, like how hard can it be for other boatbuilders?....
Nice Boat and Video 👍
Very nice. I hope you can go out on one sometime and show us what this sailing lark is all about 👍😁
