  • Philippine National Police SWAT Team training program. The Advantage of the Edged Weapon has been known since the beginning of Warfare. Knowledge of this Advantage - the Mechanics of the Edged Weapon teach correct mechanics for all weapons including Firearms - has been lost since WW2. General George S. Patton was an accomplished Swordsman, designed the last Calvary Saber adopted by the US Army and authored the Training Manual. At the beginning of WW2 he cautioned not to disregard the skills of the Saber and Bayonet because "this is the weapon that makes men close with the enemy".

Tim you should consider starting an online program and video training archive where your supporters, fans and potential students can access learning materials and interact with you. People are willing to pay a reasonable price for this kind of thing

@@MrThule I appreciate your comment. One of the very reasons why my website has not been active for several years while I maintained training Instructors. I have been conducting study and research with a dedicated objective for the past 5+ years and said I would not do more until I was ready. There is only one Professional Standard for Instructors who teach while education and training should be offered to all. Competent Instructors can evaluate, teach, and train anyone regardless of age, experience, physical ability-if they have the will to learn and train to improve one’s knowledge and skill. One is not effective without the other.

You're still alive right on. Do you have a new site up yet. The old one doesn't exist anymore just the store. I got all the dvds, so there isn't anything else I can buy. I hope you can do more empty hands videos and talk about the leveraging arm that gets used in stabbings and armed robberies with a gun.

I’m not sure of a scenario where I would transition from a right handed grip to a left. Thats what he’s explaining right? I can see where I would change eye dominance based on angles of fire. But if I’m holding my grip with both hands I am not sure why it would be advantageous to switch dominant hands but remain double handed. What am I missing?

Minimizing exposure of your body when clearing or setting up on a hallway, door or corner. Not as effective as with a rifle but still useful.

The debate and choice about training to develop ambidextrous shooting ability-or not, will continue forever because there will be those who are skilled and effective using both methods. Personally, I will always attempt to shoot strong side from any position if possible-because everyone’s natural advantage will always be with the strong side/dominate eye, even if you train to shoot support side equally. However, if I cannot fire without overexposure I will attempt to fire around the same cover from a different position if possible. Shooting from Cover/Concealment if you have not been observed-Around is always first, Through if possible, Over when movement is not possible and the only option-but you best be off the cover and not a pop-up target. There are some specific situations/environments where observing and prepared to Fire with your support hand from cover has the most advantages.
I’m a left-handed Shooter so I have a slight natural ambidextrous advantage but I still had to develop my dominate Weapon and Empty-Hand striking ability with my Right Hand. Anyone who attempts to use and engage other Edged-Impact-Expedient weapons while left-handed. There is NO Advantage to doing so and one only needs to conduct some historical research to validate this fact.
The other Advantages to training for ambidexterity is that it does improve your overall ability to perform any Physical Skill dynamically because this balances your overall proprioception, such as initiating movement and presentation/fire/striking. When the body is balanced through symmetrical effort-you will enhance your performance from your dominate side even more. You will not know this if you don’t attempt an honest effort. Everything learned from any source must be trained, developed, and validated by you yourself. This is not a choice of one method of shooting over another, it is about maximizing optimal mental/physical performance on demand.
I agree, shooting cross-eye dominate can be an Advantage in some cases, if doable. Usually for those that shoot a pistol/handgun best in that way, which are a small minority.
      Here is the Why:
Ambidextrous ability offers specific Tactical Advantages-Minimizing exposure for Observation and Firing where the Strong side cannot accomplish this-and an Advantage in overall physical development and capability that enhances Strong side performance.
The Truth that has been lost and almost forgotten, and that is the main point instructed in the video, is that Skill with the Edged Weapon develops correct Body Mechanics for efficient movement through the body’s entire Range of Motion with any personal hand-held weapon (including the empty-hand) and that develops multiple Attributes used in Combat/The Fight such as Tactile Sensitivity with the Hands and Feet (if one understands the essential requirement for Maneuver). There is no other Physical Training Method more time-effective for this development. You will Strike and Move correctly to Strike and Attack the threat or you will be the casualty instead. If you cannot manipulate and move through the full-range of motion of the body with any weapon or device AND execute the specific mechanics of an efficient draw/presentation/fire of your choice then you have a limited stylistic ability that can only be accomplished if nothing obstructs that movement. This is also proven and well documented by institutions and individual professionals of recognized Combat Skill and Leadership-from relevant historical periods of High Intensity Combined Arms warfare.
The most important Value is the Simplest. If you possess sufficient knowledge and skill, no one will remove the Knife from your hand, ever, or your Pistol/Handgun from your Duty/Battle Belt/LBE/Concealed Carry Position, or any other time, place, or situation when Firing/Striking and moving. Unless you are about to conduct an actual operation, no one knows when they will be in a Gunfight or Fight of any kind, so you best train and develop offensive skills with your Knife and bring it along as well-this is Never a Disadvantage of any kind.
There is no defense, no reactionary gap, startle flinch response, etc, etc, if you know how to Judge (the Threat: Distance, Timing, and Direction of Movement and Firing/Striking) and Control the Range and Timing of the Fight as you Strike Attack, Close-with and Destroy on the Offensive. If you possess this skill set it is very unlikely you will ever have to transfer and shoot with your Support Hand-Equal Side.

This two-handed pistol technique is a technique for amateurs. If only for one reason - when firing from cover, a very large part of the body becomes open to return fire. Another example . If a briefcase with something important is attached to the hand, returning fire in case of attack is very inconvenient. And so on and so forth. This is a technique for competition, not for real life.
Look at the documentary footage of the street fighting in the war, you will never see this kind of stupidity there. Everyone wants to live.

I suggest more research and experience Sir. The ability to Fire effectively with the non-dominate hand is widely accepted. However, I am not teaching this as a tactic for shooting for cover - I am teaching the Physical Mechanics of switching hands that is secure and the most effective for multiple applications/situations that might occur in CQC. This method originates with the Knife and the same method can be used for effectively transitioning almost any other tool/item from one hand to the other.
When you train the transfer of the weapon from hand to hand it is best to go ahead and continue with gaining full grip and firing position-whatever method the individual trains and uses. You can continue with dry-firing or live fire on the range. In the event you need to transfer to your other hand things are probably not going as planned and you will need to Fire with deliberate speed and precision. This method of transferring hand to hand will ensure a smooth consistent execution.
I am not teaching to switch hands to shoot from both sides of cover. That can be accomplished and will provide more protection in some environments and situations - searching and clearing for example. I am instructing the physical skill of the weapon transfer. The most likely situations is when injured and unable to use your dominant hand/arm, or if you are grappling with a disarm attempt/attack as demonstrated with the Knife. Regards.
