Bill Engvall is one of my favorite comedians ever and I’m glad you are getting around to his stuff. Even when you aren’t reacting to a specific bit his Comedy Specials are awesome. Here’s Your Sign, 15 degrees off cool, Aged and Confused, and Just Sell Him for parts are all incredible lol. Blue Collar Comedy Tour, Them Idiots: World Tour, and more. The guy is a legend.
Bill was born in Galveston, moved to Arizona and finished growing up in Dallas, Texas, Wayyyy north of Galveston. went to collage in the Dallas area, went to his 1st comedy club open mic and did very well, as you can see. Moved to southern California and the rest is history.
For me, the mystery of Renaissance Fairs is..why are they held at the height of summer? Dude gets his expensively crafted plate armor and then goes to stand in the sun wearing it so his armor is now a vegetable steamer. At least do it in cool weather.
My husband and I went to a Bill Engvall show and my stomach hurt for 2 days after from laughing so hard. He is the best. I love how he giggles at his own jokes.
Britt, general Patton served in the Mexican American war under general Pershing, he served in WWI and became famous and infamous in WWII. They also made a movie Patton about him in WWII, it is a movie worth watching.... Womens curliest hair... Geographically.... South of the belt.... Sorry, I have Bills take on that question... Damn boys will be boys!
renaissance festivals can be pretty fun if you get into it. but it also depends on the ones you go to. Renfest here in Texas is the biggest in the states and the weekends have themes.
George S. Patton the 3rd was a General that fought in World War 1 & 2. His grandfather George S. Patton Sr. was a Colonel in the Confederate Army, he didn’t fight at 1st Manassas aka 1st battle of Bull Run.
Renaissance fairs are a way to educate people about history. A proper fair will ensure clothing is per the way it was then. Same with some of the foods they eat. Cooked over an open fire. Try pan bread cooked outside...
Bill Engval is from Texas, and Ron White is from Texas. Jeff Foxworthy is from I think Virginia. Larry the cable guy is actually a yankee who went to collage in the south, and really liked the language and the atmosphere.
My dad got the family tossed out of every protestant church in town simply by telling the preacher that he should stick to Gods word and leave the political opinions outside the church.
Reenactments can be fun to participate in. When I was younger I was involved in a French and Indian war group. Its more or less cosplay with guns. Its fun to try to get your outfit as close to authentic as possible. Plus some groups will reenact battles for the public. Its fun if you have the time and interest in the time period.
The last Saturday of this month our church is having a fish fry and ice cream social. Lots of casseroles to go with the fish and multiple toppings for the homemade ice cream. A requirement to join any Baptist denomination (we're Free Will Baptist) is that you own at least one 9" x 13" casserole dish.
The reenactments aren't about winning or losing. It's more about history, collecting, and accuracy. Some events are better than others. As Bill pointed out. There are also events for the revolutionary era, WWII, and more.
Southern churches, especially Baptist ones, often have optional potluck for no reason at all between services on Sunday. The 'welcome' for someone actively becoming a member often just becomes a part of that. The church I went to as a teen did it both for fellowship, and lowkey as a way of making sure poorer families got to have a good meal. (And usually sent leftovers with people that wanted them too.)
As for worrying about people's kitchens and hygeine habits: You can be sure that there's gonna be both storebought and like KFC or Popeyes or something in the mix.
I did Civil War reenactment. Because so many people have been lied to about that era and don't know how good they have it today. I played a doctor. This is at the time that germs worked even a theory, bloodletting was a common cure, any bullet wound to the gut was fatal, and a wound to the bone meant amputation of limbs. The self didn't lose every battle so you didn't know how today's battle would come out. And if no one played the southern soldiers you don't have much of a battle do you? My brother and I did a bit where a statesman from the north and one from the self argued the merit of the war.
The fairs, depending on what's in the fair and how much funding, they can be fun but some boring. A rascal is a electric cart old people and disabled use. Yeah if I remember right he is southern but Bill lives in Cali I think or was it arziona where I'm at, I forget he's lived both places. My church holds parties for people who just got baptized and plan on re-attending services. They held one for my brother and me and one other person. They'd also hold potluck every so often on a small scale. Though once a year on of the members, my friend Tom, who owns a good business down here and has 3 or more locations, anyways he used to hold a huge get together once a year in his back yard. He'd grill up food, people would bring food they made, all cleanly made in sanitary conditions, that was a must lol. There'd be corn hole games, softball and all kinds others, he had a pretty big place he built himself until he sold it to be close to his daughter in peoria. I helped him get it ready for sale until my back gave out from a old tear almost a year before. Place was beautiful and there was always fun and love.
You might want to check out medieval times. It's a dinner and a show. It's kind of like the Renaissance Fair but better I guess depending on who runs the fair. But I love that place. I've never been to an actual Renaissance Fair myself. I would think it would be a little boring as well
The tennessee renesance festival is every week end in may its at the castle in the taylor swift love story video you can stand right where she stood most of the video
The Renaissance Faire was a big deal where I grew up. I resisted going forever but my wife is not from the U.S. so I decided to take her. The R.F. is essentially a costume party for carnies. Engvall is right. After about 30 minutes you find yourself thinking, "Jeez, this is BORING!" You could arguably be more entertained by hammering your own toes all day.
I am guilty of animals on all surfaces, and raisins in too many things…. BUT… I have enough self awareness to know to be a recluse and stay away from all human interaction. And I am totally ok with that. And I have a healthy “Christian” love for all human beings. We live. We die. And the less I interfere with others, the more gratitude I have, the better.
One of my high school teachers was a Civil War Re-enactor. Many years after I graduated, he was participating a battle, had a heart attack and passed away on the battlefield. No one realized it until it was over because everyone thought he was acting as a casualty.
@@brittreacts There are many versions of "Here's Your Sign"... It is his trademark act... There are many stand up versions, and even a music video with Travis Tritt...
It has been said that those who don't learn from history is destined to relive it ( one way or another . It might be packed differently but still the same old thing )
A Rascal is a motorized chair for feeble old people. "I'm a little rascal on my Little Rascal" was the tagline. The Renaissance was in the 1500's in England. A Faire is where devotees dress the part and go in character. Most attendees dress regular and go to have fun with the experience. You should go to one and have a smoked turkey leg.
People complain about biting into a chocolate chip cookie only to realize it has raisins, not chocolate chips. I want someone to make chocolate chip cookies with Raisinets. Examine them as closely as you want: sure enough, that’s chocolate. Surprise! Raisins inside! 😈
I got kicked out of a church when I was 20 I moved in with a girl that was 30. The whole town shut down when they found out my grandmother told me to stop by her house on my way to work one evening the whole church was waiting on the other on her front porch. OMG tell me I was an abomination.

I'm very cautious towards potlucks as well... But my dog is a goldendoodle, so it's OK it you get some of his hair. He's hypoallergenic... just pull it out... you'll be fine. :)
Big difference between pot luck at a city church and a country church. You don't gotta wory about clean in a country church and it will al be home meade by folks who have been cooking for years and years and years.
My churchs pot luck was 2 buckets of kfc 9 caseroles and several things made from a crock pot then the desert table thats my familys department orenge juce cake and nanner pudding

You need to react to the "I believe" song from the Blue Collar Tour Movie with Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Ingvall and Ron White.
Bill Engvall's "Here's Your Sign" routine is funny too.
Ive always enjoyed watching Bill since i first saw him back in the Blue Collar Comedy Tour days. Lovin that hair btw.
Glad you enjoyed it

Wow, thank you!
renaissance festivals can be pretty fun if you get into it. but it also depends on the ones you go to. Renfest here in Texas is the biggest in the states and the weekends have themes.
1:42 Civil War Reenactments are different battles selected at random. So each visit is a new fight.
George S. Patton the 3rd was a General that fought in World War 1 & 2. His grandfather George S. Patton Sr. was a Colonel in the Confederate Army, he didn’t fight at 1st Manassas aka 1st battle of Bull Run.
Rascal is a motorized wheelchair scooter thing like George Costanza had in 1 episode

Glad you got Bill’s style of humour , and laughed at these jokes, the man is naturally funny as heck , loved your reaction:)
Love the videos. Richard Jeni is another comedian you could look into if you already haven't. His bit called the bad news makes me laugh every time.
Well, your dad’s absolutely right. Churches have no business pushing politics unless they pay taxes.
He was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! It's sad, pathetic and wrong that that's true.
Good for him.
me too ?
Democrats hate the Bible

Pleast do his " flying with the USAF Thunderbirds". Being a 20 year Air force vet it's so funny.

General Patton was a military officer from World War II.

Bill engvall did one where he prank his father that is good one to watch

I go to reenactments for the history. The seeing of it how people dressed and acted. It puts it in a new perspective, you can't get from a book.

Renaissance Fairs and Civil War Reenactments are no different than cosplays. I've never been to any and don't think I will ever in my lifetime.
with ya Girl, raisins only belong in raisin bran and oatmeal cookies, yummy! =)
Pot Lucks are how you keep your immune system strong !

I certainly hope people listen to his church story and learned to ask a question clearly. That was definitely a trap question.
Sooo funny!! 😂
Kind suggestion:
Dolly Parton's top ten peeves on David Letterman. Hilarious!!

Pot lucks are a southern church staple. Especially when it comes to Baptist. Some will have at least one a month.
We have a " linger longer" dinner once a month. Same kind of thing.
