Brissie (Brisbane) is a much more laidback place than Sydney and Melbourne. Big enough to have everything you'd want but not too big. The winters in Brisbane are amazing but the summer can be very humid, but that doesn't matter because you are either air conditioned or in the pool.
I moved to Brisvegas in 2007, but grew up in Newcastle and spent a couple of my early 20’s years in Sydney. I always describe Brisbane in a similar way as you, Suburban like Newy, but with everything Sydney has to offer. We even have a bridge! 😂😉

I once picked up a hitch hiker about seven years ago in a small outback town in South Australia called Coober Pedy. He was a white elderly guy wanting a ride to town on a hot sort of day. He jumped into my car and thanked me but I noticed he didn't have an Australian accent so I asked where he is from. He answered " here in Coober Pedy". I said " But you have a different accent ". Then he told me he originally came from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and he came to Coober Pedy as a much younger man meaning to be just visiting and then moving on but he fell in love with the town and never left. He said he plans on living in Coober Pedy until his dying day and then has a wish to be cremated and have his ashes scattered just outside of the town at a scenic desert spot called " The Breakaways ". He lives a simple sort of life. Just getting by and he sometimes rides a pushbike around town with a milk crate attached to the back which he uses for carrying shopping. A nice guy too from what I remember of our brief random meeting.
When you're ready, come on back to Australia Adrien. Be Australian. There's so many more amazing and diverse places for you to experience. More adventures. You're really welcome here because your heart is open to our country and to us.
Oh how wonderful to see Brisbane through your eyes young man. Me? British born, dual nationality French. Eldest son lives in AUS just south of Queensland border. And we visited Brisbane last Aussie summer. Such a beautiful city. Thank you for this video. Hope to find more on the web.
What a cool down to earth dude you are. Thanks for this video and everything you said in it, as an Aussie that lives in Brisbane I think you’re right about it all. It’s a great place, I think of it like a small town feel.. where as Sydney and Melbourne have much more of a big city vibe.
Good vid mate, Americans always welcome here in Aussie. I'm born and raised in North brissy and seen much of australia, I'm never leaving brissy love it!
Mate, enjoyed watching your video. Glad you enjoyed my home city of Brisbane. Hope you decided to become an Australian citizen, and you're very welcome here.
The thing I love about Australia is each city is a bit different and so easy to love, It's such a great country no matter where you go. Oh there are dives in suburbs like any other place in the world but over all it is just a great place.
Brisbane is my hometown, New Farm Park is my local park, and I’ve sat at the very same table at Cafe 63 for breakfast on many a Sunday morning. Glad you liked it here! I hope you got to experience some of the nightlife✌️
Eric Idle just called, he’s suing you for stealing his joke! ua-cam.com/video/R8aPABF7nW4/v-deo.html Note the choice of beer in their hands, proof they aren’t actually Aussies!
brisbane is approaching the world record " biggest urban area in the world " as it streches from the border at the gold coast al the way to the sunshine coast , uninterupted housing suburbs for 250 kilometers
Good to see you look both ways when crossing. I've heard the most dangerous thing in Australia for right hand lane drivers is getting hit by a car because they always look the wrong way when crossing.
I'm so glad you loved our little corner of the planet. If you have a chance to come back please PLEASE go see any or all of the three largest sand islands in the world that sit just off the coast here, Moorgumpin (Moreton), Minjerribah (Stradbroke) or K'gari (Fraser). They will take your breath away.
I wouldn’t worry about being chosen. I was told that they do a count and choose someone after a certain number of people have gone through. I’m a middle aged white Australian woman and I get chosen often. The guy told me one time it was a numbers game
If you like Brisbane, you'll also like Perth, it too is its own little world. It's approximately the same size. The difference is the weather: we get lots of sun most year round and low humidity. Winters get chilly. Summers get dry hot and have a sea breeze in the avo. I wanna check out Brizzy too coz my favourite Aussies I've met have come from either perth or brizzy on average, and melb, Sydney are too big for my humble desires :D
Hope you enjoy your stay mate. Make sure you get to see more of the country outside Queensland. Always nice to hear positive things about your native country, I hope that the positive experiences continue😉.
OMG YES!!! I noticed how healthy conscious the Aussies were too... Sure they have junk food, but the majority of Aussies eat really good ... Many I met were Vegetarian and Vegan...
As a welded on Sydney resident I have to admit Brisbane is a beautiful tropical city. Like Sydney it is a fantastic place to just walk and walk and take it all in.
I lived in Brisbane for three year and loved it. While in New Farm Park you should have caught the ferry to the CBD, so nice. I love Brisbane especially the weather, that weather you were experiencing, is for 8 months of the year. A perfect English summer.
I lived in Brisbane for many years. Also Sydney and have been to both Melbourne and Adelaide. I prefer Brisbane. The climate is better, it's more laid back and spread out, and the people are more relaxed. Further north, in the smaller towns and cities, it's even nicer.
Brisbane is underrated. Bonuses are two surf coasts 60 to 90 minutes north and south, islands directly off Brisbane 1 hour on ferry and amazing tropical world heritage rainforest hinterlands.
I often look upon Australia as America 2.0. I've lived in Brisbane 30 years and I have little to complain about. Adrien's first days in Brisbane were in Fortitude Valley which used to be a more dilapidated area. I used to work there. Think about the USA with an alternate history: no revolution, no African slave trade, no civil war, and no borders with overcrowded Latino nations (i.e. all English language). Now picture a climate similar to northern Mexico but without all the people (and crime). Border controls have also prevented many problems affecting so many other nations (coronavirus). The Brisbane airport has three control points: 1) Immigration which is mainly electronic now and is use to screen those with falsified documents or have overstayed on previous trips. 2) Customs: These are the people that look at those trying to bring in narcotics or other illegal items. 3)Quarantine: Brown shirts who scan your luggage for organic material. If you have no food, plan nor animal products then no worries. Adrien may have been questioned by Customs due to a swab being taken on his luggage giving a positive reading??
I hope you can visit Melbourne and Tasmania. The change down the East Coast in the culture is quite noticeable and interesting. Starting in Cairns and slowly moving all the way to Hobart.
lol you're making me laugh in a good way. Brother you would be a wonderful addition to Australia. I suppose that the best thing that you could do is apply.
Curly wurlies is English / Australian as are all the Cadbury’s products. Australia is renowned for great coffee. It was interesting watching as an Australian who lives in Brisbane and has a beach house at Noosa. I definitely think Brisbane is a great place to live. It isn’t a typical tourist destination.
Fortitude valley is a nice suburb, and New Farm Park is amazing, if you do come again, I really suggest staying in Highgate Hill, West End, South Brisbane or East Brisbane. I grew up as a teenager in West End and Highgate Hill, and it's amazing (it's changing now with the development), but there's amazing shops, restaurants and bus stops that take you right to the city and the valley (you can even walk). Depends where you are, but it's usually less busy than the Valley
I got so excited when I noticed you were walking through new farm! I used to live there before returning to the southern suburbs just outside the city. Also that grocery store you visited is an IGA which is more expensive than our three major grocery stores. But they’re locally owned and resourced so they’re good to support. Did you go out in fortitude valley? It’s so much fun. Glad you loved it!
One of the best kept secrets here in Australia is Evans Head, NSW. 3 1/2 hours south of Brisbane just over the boarder. Sleepy little seaside township with crystal clear glassy green water. The best damn prawns (shrimp) on the planet. Really good for a quiet getaway.
Im Aussie too🙂👍🇭🇲🦘 yep its gods country australia in general is a clean and friendly safe place to live. A lot of the population is on the outer edges around the continent all the costal areas whils inland is cites and rural agricultural areas. Good video mate hope you enjoy your time here in Australia and have a safe trip around , remember we drive on rhe left side here😂😂😂😂👍🦘🇭🇲
You should have also gone on the ferry to our eastern suburbs like Bulimba, sooo gorgeous, a village atmosphere with heaps of good cafes with fabulous coffees etcetc,, beautiful parklands with wide views of the City and our river, of course there are other gorgeous suburbs, but going by what your saying I think you'd love Bulimba, Balmoral and Hawthorne.
I'm not from Brissy, but it's probably one of the most laid back cities here & one of the warmest of the capital cities so probably one of easiest places to land in initially but other places are all different. Right back at you for the US, as there are plenty of places in the US I found equally good as here.

Great video
As an Aussie I’m was really pleased to hear you say such nice things about our country. 🇦🇺😘
Here in Australia, your 'Complexion' is immaterial, means nothing. You are 'You', the person.
What a cool down to earth dude you are. Thanks for this video and everything you said in it, as an Aussie that lives in Brisbane I think you’re right about it all. It’s a great place, I think of it like a small town feel.. where as Sydney and Melbourne have much more of a big city vibe.
Hey man glad you liked the place, hope some day you find your way back and live here permanently
Thanks for the nice relaxing vid. Hope you enjoyed your trip. Come back and stay! 😃👍
Good vid mate, Americans always welcome here in Aussie. I'm born and raised in North brissy and seen much of australia, I'm never leaving brissy love it!
Australia has the best coffee in the world!!! Hands down 😊
Mate, enjoyed watching your video. Glad you enjoyed my home city of Brisbane. Hope you decided to become an Australian citizen, and you're very welcome here.
Thank you for celebrating my city. ❤❤❤
Been to California and Florida and couldn't wait to get home to the Gold Coast. Your welcome here, and your luck to be here.
Q: What does American coffee and making love in a canoe have in common?
A: They’re both f-king close to water! 😂😂😂
Eric Idle just called, he’s suing you for stealing his joke!

Note the choice of beer in their hands, proof they aren’t actually Aussies!
David Handley Nice Monty Python reference Bruce.
Lol
Hey, wow! We here love anyone who loves Brisbane, you’ve captured the feel of the place really well. :D
Brissy and the Gold Coast area is amazing, lots to see and do. Subtropical rainforests, beaches, waterfalls.. amazing.
I'm so glad you felt welcome here. You are. x
New Farm Park.... The South end of Brisbane....🤣🤣🤣. You're so sweet!!😄😄
Brisbanian here! I wouldn't live anywhere else. Ours is a wonderful city.
brisbane is approaching the world record " biggest urban area in the world " as it streches from the border at the gold coast al the way to the sunshine coast , uninterupted housing suburbs for 250 kilometers
It's a bloody shithole
@@mathewkelly9968 yeah, I only go there for the theatre
Sprawl to the max
The beach at the opening shot is amazing - I go there annually
Dude welcome to Australia. Loved watching your perspective, come visit Perth soon!
@Benjamin Wallace the methy crackbois are at train stations Australia wide 😂
Glad you enjoyed your stay in my home town. Nice to see it from an outsider's perspective. Makes me appreciate it even more.
Hope you enjoy your stay mate. Make sure you get to see more of the country outside Queensland. Always nice to hear positive things about your native country, I hope that the positive experiences continue😉.
New farm park is one of my oldest memories as a child going there, but then I moved to Adelaide, still making memories though!
OMG YES!!! I noticed how healthy conscious the Aussies were too... Sure they have junk food, but the majority of Aussies eat really good ... Many I met were Vegetarian and Vegan...
I think it’s more because we do have access to high quality fresh food. We produce a lot of very good food here.
That feeling of uniqueness is one of the wonderful parts of travelling. Hope we can get back to international travel after Covid.
You are welcome here brother.
As a welded on Sydney resident I have to admit Brisbane is a beautiful tropical city. Like Sydney it is a fantastic place to just walk and walk and take it all in.
Australia truly is beautiful when you visit it
Great vid brutha, that how we roll here in bris and iv been all over the world and wouldn’t change it for anything
Adrien, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. If you think Brisbane is nice try going out into the country side. And yes your welcome to stay forever.
I lived in Brisbane for three year and loved it. While in New Farm Park you should have caught the ferry to the CBD, so nice. I love Brisbane especially the weather, that weather you were experiencing, is for 8 months of the year. A perfect English summer.
Even the smallest littlest cafes serve the most delicious coffee
Perth is Australia's best kept secret!
Nah, too many Perth people banging on about it
This is so pure :) glad you had a great time in my home town xx
Watchng this vid was very refreshing Adrien. Enjoyed it very much. Is there a part 2? And welcome!
Migrated to Brisbane in 2005. Best place to live in the world (in my opinion!) 😁
Thank you for your kind words about my home town. You are welcome here at any time.
Adrien, you are lucky. I'd love to move out there permanently from the US.
I could hear the magpies in the background. Half expected him to get swooped lol
I hope you can visit Melbourne and Tasmania. The change down the East Coast in the culture is quite noticeable and interesting. Starting in Cairns and slowly moving all the way to Hobart.
Good on you. It makes me appreciate just how good it is to be Australian when I watch this
Such a great video. It's wonderful when good people can appreciate our country. Enjoy!
lol you're making me laugh in a good way.
Loved this..Thanks for making such a great video of my home town..
Glad you enjoyed your time in my home town Brisbane and so impressed you pronounced my city's name like a native
I live here, miles better than the us. Glad u liked it
You're funny and so nice. Glad you enjoyed Oz. Come back soon!
Yep I stayed in Fortitude Valley. I loved that neighborhood. If I lived in Brisbane I’d want to live in New Farm. ❤️
Adrien Field you would be welcomed with open arms if you ever decide it’s for you. Thanks for the content 💕
Brisbane is the best. I’ve lived in Sydney and Tasmania , but Brisbane is the best 🥰🇦🇺
Should of hit the valley and done a friday - sunday sesh bender mate
So glad you love our country! I love visiting the US and have been (and lived there) many times but Australia is just so special
Glad that you liked Brisbane! The best city in the world.
Good video mate hope you enjoy your time here in Australia and have a safe trip around , remember we drive on rhe left side here😂😂😂😂👍🦘🇭🇲
Thank you so much to loved our Beautiful City,
You should have also gone on the ferry to our eastern suburbs like Bulimba, sooo gorgeous, a village atmosphere with heaps of good cafes with fabulous coffees etcetc,, beautiful parklands with wide views of the City and our river, of course there are other gorgeous suburbs, but going by what your saying I think you'd love Bulimba, Balmoral and Hawthorne.
Thanks for the tips 😊
Glad you enjoyed it mate I love America so much as well
Hope you ended up being one of us, Australia is the best!
I'm not from Brissy, but it's probably one of the most laid back cities here & one of the warmest of the capital cities so probably one of easiest places to land in initially but other places are all different.
Right back at you for the US, as there are plenty of places in the US I found equally good as here.
