This is the best hotels in the Oahu area . It's full of intrigue ,Exploration, Imagination, Wonder ,Splendor, Magic ,And more please respect the hawaiian traditions language and mire . The people there are my OHANAS.
I always stay at the Outrigger Reef. All the rooms were renovated in 2020, as well as most other parts of the hotel like the main lobby area and restaurants like the recently opened Monkeypod Kitchen. The Outrigger Waikiki is a fine hotel with great staff, but the rooms have 1990s decor and desperately need an upgrade. I would only stay there if I had an Oceanfront room. The Outrigger Waikiki is situated on the most spectacular part of Waikiki Beach, so if you are mobility impaired it may be a good choice. The Outrigger Reef and Outrigger Waikiki are about a 5-7 minute walk away from each other (half mile) Both hotels are have great restaurants inside them as well as within walking distance outside the property. The Outrigger Reef is quieter because it is not near a major road and has a park on one side and a 5 star hotel on the other. (Halekulani) If you are on the Kalakaua side of the Outrigger Waikiki you will hear traffic and street noise and just more general noise of any big city.
Torn between these two properties and your feedback is helpful! I think we'll opt for the Outrigger Reef and walk to different beach areas for swimming etc.
Good choice. The best part of Waikiki Beach to dip in the water is in front of the Royal Hawaiian >Pink Palace, (5 minute walk from the Reef)at low tide you can walk out 2O0 yards and be in waist deep water. Also, there are 2 areas with concrete barriers if the waves are rough and you do not want to be thrown around. The Outrigger Waikiki is a great hotel ,with amazing staff, but the rooms on the street side can be noisy and like I said, the rooms are very outdated, but they probably have the best oceanfront views in Waikiki and a great vibe with Dukes restaurant. Bring a cheap pair of water shoes or buy a pair at the ABC stores, there are Rocky outcrops on Waikiki and you could stub your toe easily. Also, my pet peeve is slow elevators, the Outrigger Waikiki has many complaints about their elevator system, the Outrigger Reef elevators are very efficient and wait times are minimal.
Great video Miriam. Am loving all your videos. Well are visiting from Australia in May/June next year and would really like to see a walk through of The Hawaiian Monarch where we'll be staying Mahalo 😊
We loved the Outrigger Reef in 2012. I loved the seaside dining experience and the beautiful appearance then. It's even better now and we are planning to come back in 2025.
Aloha, Miriam, coming to the NCORE conference end of May and reserved a room at the Outrigger Waikiki; your comparison between the two Outrigger was very helpful. Although I like the idea of recent renovation, the new Monkeypod, and more tranquil setting, the Duke's brunch, Blue Note, the busy Duke's restaurant and bar, the very easy access to the beach and the Moniz surf family for lessons tips the scale for me--although I have been to the Outrigger Waikiki before to go to Duke's, and it is always very busy! You are Da KIne at video tours!
Aloha! I am planning to visit from Australia in the coming weeks. Do you have a video on the Alohalini Resort? I can't find hardly any information on this seemingly beautiful hotel. Mahalo!
We have stayed at the Reef, which was lovely, but we had to walk a ways to get to the good beach! I think it's confusing to have two Outrigger properties!! Next time we will try the Outrigger with the nice beach!! 🌺
The Outrigger Reef is MUCH Better than the regular Outrigger which is CRAZY with Tourists and NOISE!!! I saw NUMEROUS Sea Turtles and a Hawaiian Monk Seal and the Service was INCREDIBLE!!! I JUST Stayed there and I will Definately go there again!!
That's right! The ones by the pool are complimentary for guests. The ones on the beach/sand are 3rd party and must be rented (for $). Both are beachfront.
All these stereotypical tourists make me cringe. 😂 I’ll be at the Outrigger Waikiki Resort in late July, and I’m excited as I haven’t been to Hawaii since my Navy days.
I think we are all cringe in our own way. I love doing touristy things. I'm not sure why someone would go to a destination and intentionally avoid every 'touristy' thing

I stayed there with my folks, back in the 70s. When Don Ho performed by the pool at night.
Oh wow! I bet that was something to see.
@@YestoHawaii yes it was!
Great video, thank you for the comparison! Planning our first time trip for next year & so far I think I’ll be booking Outrigger Reef!
Nice! That's exciting! I like the location of the Reef

Mahalo 😊
Aww thanks! And I’m not too sure if I’d do the Hawaiian Monarch, it’s kind of a not so nice property. But might add it to the list in future!
I would definitely stay there.

I'll add it to the list to film this month! 🤙🏼
Ooh, a Local Motion. Good to know I don’t have to go all the way to Ala Moana if I want a shirt.
Waikiki has all the things haha

Hi! I'm confused.. so beach chairs and umbrellas need to be rented and are not complementary? Also, are both properties beachfront?
That's right! The ones by the pool are complimentary for guests. The ones on the beach/sand are 3rd party and must be rented (for $). Both are beachfront.
I'm just finding this out as well - that all the beach space is public property and run by permitted vendors - not the hotels.
Thanks for sharing
Mahalo! 🌺
if you stay at reef can you go to beach to go to dukes and blue note? also which is your preference? are they both oceanfront?
Yes, that's right - Duke's and Blue Note are both open to the public. Both of these outriggers are oceanfront too.
I hope to have a future Job there
