It’s just like my mother and I after seeing Elvis for the first time. I found out that my mom had never been to Graceland; the very next year was the 30th anniversary of his death and we made our pligrimage. Elvis is in the air. It’s incredible.

I'm an old coot in my seventies and I was about 7 when Elvis burst on to the scene. As both Jay and her mum are much younger than I, what they cannot really appreciate is the absolute explosion that almost everyone in the world felt when "Hearbreak Hotel " was released and he appeared performing in cinema newsreels world-wide.
NOBODY had ever moved, sang or looked like him, and popular music had become very bland.
Elvis was influenced by many genres.HIllbilly, Country, R&B, light Italian opera, and he put his own unique stamp on all that he sang: as I wrote earlier, I doubt if anyone who wasn't around in the 50s, can appreciate his impact, but, as evidenced by your reactions in this clip, you sure can enjoy him as much as we did. :-)

My Mom was a pre teen when she met Elvis. She was sooo excited to meet him and wanted nothing more than to get a kiss from him (like all the other girls) and when it came time for her turn, he gave her a kiss alright, but not on the lips, on her forehead (she was like 9yrs old)... she was soooo upset LOL After all these years, she was still mad about that lol
