K2 Base Camp Trek is one of the top 10 trails for trekking in the world. The trek mostly involves walking along the length of the 5th longest non polar glacier in the world i.e. Baltoro Glacier (63km) in the Karakoram range of Pakistan The trail on Baltoro up to concordia and even K2 base camp is isolated and rugged.
Concordia (Karakoram) is situated at an elevation of 4,500 m and K2 base camp is situated at 5,100 meters. Pakistan is home to hundreds of well-known mountains. On this trek you will see many of the 5,000m to 8000m plus mountains including K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum (2,4). You will be surrounded by several massive glaciers while you are on the trek.
This includes Biafo (67km - world's 3rd longest). One also gets a chance to witness rivers and streams including Indus, Panma and Braldu.
The trek starts at Askoli village of Baltistan. It takes 7hrs by jeep to reach Askoli from Skardu town that has an airport operating regular flights to the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad.
