Debbie, I just had to come by and tell you THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for sharing this with us. I tried your rice water and onion juice mixture, and let me tell you, it's a miracle mixture. I wear my hair in a bun everyday with a scrunchie. Every time I take the scrunchie out, it pulls out a lot of my hair. Then, came you! No lie, after doing this rinse, I have had practically zero breakage and shedding. I can count the strands that shed and it is maybe 2-5 strands a day. It has blown my mind how amazing my hair has gotten over this first week of using this mixture. My hair has thickened, has more volume, doesn't break, and my bun is nice and full. Also, my scalp doesn't itch, and I don't have any dandruff like I've suffered with my whole life. This is all after the first day of using it. This is the first time in 8 years of being natural that I actually love my hair. I now have a sense of pride in my hair that I didn't have before.

So sorry, I'm just seeing your question. I used half the onion juice from one red onion. I froze the other half and used it the following week. I mixed the onion juice with the rice water. I used 1 cup of rice and 1 cup of distilled water and let it ferment for 24 hours in a mason jar in my pantry. I put the mixture in a spray bottle and applied the whole bottle to my hair, left it on for 1 hour, rinsed out, and then conditioned. I wear my hair in a bun everyday, but last night I decided to comb it out and check the length. Oh my word, my hair has grown so, so much. It looks so healthy and much thicker. I love the results. I've only done it twice, so far. Definitely try it.

Not only that, my hair definitely look shinny, healthier and cleaner then usual (even when I put gel/hairspray on my hair). This treatment definitely WORKS! My mom is also using it and she says her hair feels smooth, looks shinny & it’s getting longer (even though she likes short hair). So once again THANK YOU for your wisdom.

Onion juice and fermented rice water are the truth!!!🙌🏾 I have multi textured type 4 hair (a,b, and c; primarily b/c) low to high porosity, thick to fine strands, and high density. I had a major set back last summer resulting in bald patches and thinning of my edges (especially my right side). I also experienced another set back earlier this year due to a bad choice in protective styling and pure laziness and neglect. I experienced excessive shedding, breakage, and dryness. At the beginning of June, I decided to reevaluate my regimen and go back to what my hair loves - diy all natural ingredients and Ayurvedic herbs. I began implementing the use of fermented rice water and onion/garlic/ginger treatments. My hair loves both! I use rice water regularly. I use a daily moisturizing spray which contains rice water and my diy tea (1:1 ratio, refrigerate). I also use it as the liquid in my diy deep conditioning concoctions. I reuse the rice by just adding more water (don’t waste the rice - reuse it for up to a month+). I then blend the rice into a creamy consistency, strain it through a pantyhose and add oils, honey, aloe vera juice, etc for a deep conditioning concoction. For the onion juice, I prefer using the yellow one because it contains the highest amount of sulfur. The red contains more nutrients and antioxidants (I may start mixing the two to reap all the benefits). I blend all ingredients and strain using a pantyhose, add an essential oil, massage onto scalp and hair, and cover with a plastic cap and scarf. One onion yields about 4 applications (freeze into individual applications). I also make an onion/garlic/ginger infused oil. I use the onion juice and oil as a prepoo. I also mix the oil with my Ayurvedic diy oil for scalp massages (grew back my edges). My hair is the healthiest it’s ever been since returning to natural. I have so much new growth. My hair is strong, moisturized, shinny, soft, and so full, and growing. My shedding is minimal and my breakage has completely subsided. Of course like many things it requires consistency - you won’t see results overnight. Figure out what works best for your hair and be consistent. Be patient and watch your hair transform. Fermented rice water and onions will always be a part of my hair regimen.🙌🏾🌺

I saw your original rice water recipe and I put it on my to-do list. All the while it was on the list my relaxed hair was breaking off daily. I moisturized and sealed nightly, I deep conditioned as well, used a protein treatment with no improvement. I wore my hair very low (near bald) for many years and I finally decided to grow and reached shoulder length to be defeated by breakage, then I watched this video. I decided to give the rice water a try and the very next day after the treatment the breakage stopped, I mean STOPPED. My hair looks super shiny, healthy and moisturized. I have done the rice water four times in two weeks following, the last time I added the onion and my hair is a force. It's strong, dark, healthy and shiny......Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the best, the real deal. I can say that because I followed not only your rice and onion juice recipe, but also your shampoo and conditioner recipe and love them all. They became my staple. I am a relaxer girl and even though you state this is great for natural hair, this is also great on relaxed hair. Please keep it coming. I noticed my hair always looks moisturized, is there a need for me to moisturize and seal nightly anymore? I haven't seen the need to. Btw I am planning a vacation to ATL simply to come to you for your magic touch. Yes it's that deep :)

Harvest, I've had alopecia for about ten years & then recent years my hair started matting & knotting up really bad when washing it. But rice water changed all that & white rice water seems to agree with my hair than black rice water. So easy to detangle-thank GOD!!!! I'm seeking thickness & strength more so than length & I've seen both since using it the pass 2 months. I think sometimes our hair problems concerning thinning & baldness is misdiagnosed as Alopecia when really all it is is a mineral deficiency in the body and\or scalp. Rice water has protein in it & my hair acts like it is starved for it. So now I am trying to find that balance with moisturizing and protein so I don't have an overload with either. God's blessing to you, me & all those journeying back to healthy thick strong hair! :-)

I have thin low porosity hair low density hair. Have done rice water everyday last week as a rinse. I can say I have not noted any shedding since u started. I will keep monitoring. But today is my full wash day, as I plan to do full wash days once weekly. However I have added onion garlic water to my rice water and steam for 1 hour before rinsing. Let us see what happens in the coming weeks. I will keep this regiment for two months. And planning on adding liquid biotin. Currently I take prenatal and loads of water as I try to workout daily.

She never had a problem again but for some reason my son’s hair is more stubborn and I’m going to try this. This may be difficult, but I would suggest that your daughter go a few weeks to months on a gluten free diet. I too had an alopecia problem and I did a gluten-free diet and drank 2 tablespoons of coconut oil per day. By the grace of God, I haven’t had a problem since. I pray healing for your daughter!! 🙏🏾

I’m very new to finding out about the benefits of onions for hair growth but I find that it works. Instead of using it in water, I use it in an oil with curry leaves and fenugreek seeds cooked briefly and steeped together with oil (I used organic cold press coconut and neem oils). The difference in my hair in three weeks was amazing and I just used it once each week before washing; messaging it into my scalp for several minutes. It really does make a difference in the health of your hair. The growth is automatic added bonus. I’m going to try this as well.

I did my Rice water treatment yesterday. I just added a twist. I fermented my rice water for 4 days, on the 2nd night I added 2 plugs of garlic and half of a small onion and left it up to the 4th day. I didn't blend anything tho, I just put it in as the raw product. I washed my hair and conditioned then i rinse with the mix and put a shower cap on. I waited until an hour and after conditioned again. The way my hair felt was AMAZING. I loved it instantly but get this that same day i made a natural hair oil to help even more.
I did aloe vera, Coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil and vitamin E, i put that in my hair, the next day it was like a miracle no BS. My ends felt so soft and so together, my hair was soft and shiny. It feels like nothing i felt with my hair before. Not joking. I am excited for this process to see what happens with my hair, at work my friends noticed and felt it and were blown away. My ends look healthy. My hair is so damaged am so hopeful this works. If it does am selling it. No BS! Lol but my hair is/was so broken and shedsing like crazy. Thanks so much Doc because this is so helpful and motivating. Am keeping the faith on this one. I say just take the chance and see if it works.

Ok so you'll need to make a video, actually you should've done a video of your hair before/after and the process of what you made.

I just started doing it today 😅. Since I don't have a blender, I used a grater and I think it did some pretty job as well. Wish me luck
