I'm from Minnesota and flew in aviation 25 years and traveled extensively and lived in 10 states and this is the nicest biggest state fair I have ever been to🎉🌟
It's peanut butter powder in the whipped cream that give it that extra structure. It absorbs the moisture, making the cream nearly weep-proof - an important feature when dealing with Minnesota's summer humidity. Especially this year.
I am so glad you started this channel! I watch all your channels and the reptile adventures was my favorite for a long time until you started this channel. Please don't ever quit! And that pickle pizza looked amazing!!
The pickle pizza IS really good! I tried it when they introduced it two years ago. I now get a piece every year. I want to know who’s making it here now since Rick’s Pizza is from Florida.
Biggest state fair by daily attendance. It’s also the most food-centered fair in the country. It’s also high-quality food. It’s expensive, but the portion sizes and quality make up for the price. If you’re a new vendor, you have to submit your food to the vetting process. Your food will be sampled and they will determine if your food is not only fair-worthy, but also not a duplicate of another vendor. They want variety at the MN State Fair, and they want creativity.
I live in Minnesota and have never been to the state fair. My husband and I live near Winona, Minnesota. We are planning on going to the Asian Mall just to check it out and go to the Hot Pot restaurant 😊
I live in the subs of the Twin Cities and I like my traditional favorites of Luigi Fries, Garlic toast at the Italian junction, cheese bread at Vescio's, and yes the pronto pup. occasionally a pizza thrown in here and there (sausage/cheese). Plus you have to wash it down with Mt Dew. Now outside of the fair find me a good Walleye dinner or Walleye sandwich I am in heaven eating that stuff up.
I’ve been loving your food channel , it’s not that you’re doing anything different , you just got that perfect personality for doing this if that makes sense . Keep up the great work!
When you took that bite of the Minnesota corn dog i said out loud "oooh i bet thats good!" Then you made that face 😂 Definitely wanna eat that one day!
When I was little, the only way I would eat a corn dog was to dip it in maple syrup or honey. It just made sense to me. Don't most people put honey or maple syrup on corn meal muffins? Basically, a corn dog is a corn meal muffin wrapped around a hot dog.
My dad took his new fiancé to the fair on Saturday. She’d never been to a state fair and she’s 82! They live in Galveston, but we’re from Wisconsin transplanted to Minnesota in ‘79 and she was raised in Massachusetts transplanted to Texas when she was a teenager. It might have to do with the fact that the Texas fair is in Dallas and it’s about an 8 hour drive. So since they were traveling up here so she could meet us, going to the fair was a no brainer. In any case, they had a great time. She was blown away by the Creative Arts building and loved the parade.
Your pickle pizza reminds me of a pastrami pizza I tried the other day. It had pastrami of course, but mustard and pickles too. It was different but still delish!
Quite a selection of different foods! I couldn't help but think of Adam from WWR when you tried the dillicious pizza! Also, never would have thought to use maple syrup with a corn dog... but apparently it works really well!
I'm a pickle queen and i want to try that pizza! I'll try the fried ranch too. Oh and that fried licorice and the Minnesota corn dog! I need to go to the Minnesota Fair next year
When I was introduced to Minnesota sushi, it was made with Buddig corned beef. I’ve never had it with ham. And the friend who introduced it to me 40 years ago called it “pickle things”. I’ve called it pickle things ever since and that’s how I make it.
@ItsJustLisa I'm not a native Minnesotan, but I became a fan of Minnesota sushi (aka Lutheran sushi) years before I came across the name of this potluck delight in a James Lileks-esque article. (Unfortunately, I can neither recall the author nor find the article online.) I was unaware of the corned-beef version, but I'll whip up a batch of "pickle things" soon. Thanks!
Can't believe you tried to poison your nephew - ha, ha!! I would love the pickle pizza. Bummer about the wild rice "Swedish" meatballs. I just bought a jar of lingonberry jam at my local store. Have big plans to make Swedish meatballs soon. Tip: they need allspice and nutmeg. Hi from lovely Oregon.
1 Dam... what better way to enjoy bacon?! 2 Ranch? Is that sweet and sour...? Is that ranch mashed potatoes? 3 Uh...... I'm twitching here.... 4 Dill, dill, with a side of dill pickle.... I love cherry! 7 Sounds Delish Yes, you must find cheese curds!!!! #RattleOn #EatthePlanet
The ranch is made with cream cheese. It sounds like a jalapeño popper without the jalapeño, so to speak. I’m guessing they freeze the mixture in triangular nuggets in order to easily bread it.

Thanks for the reviews! I wasn’t aware of the Minnesota corn dog and I can’t wait to try it now.

Can’t bring myself to wait that long for the pickle pizza, but I did get the Toppers version of it, and they did a good job with it

Those veggie fries are so good. I get them at least twice each fair time. Multi-day visitor here.
I should give them a try...but, yeah, veggies lol
I tried the pickle pizza with the Dill dip at the Farmington mn fair it was pretty damn good lol id get it again!!
When I go to the Minnesota State Fair, I will def try the Minnesota Corn Dog for breakfast! 😋

Great to see your nephew, pity he couldn't hang with you longer, you're a great wee team. ❤
I think so too. We will do many more food videos together in the future
Can you do a review on the Korean ayce bbq and hot pot? Shinhwa Korean Steakhouse in Roseville and J Pot in Maplewood.
I'll certainly add those to my list!
You'll have to go to the New York State Fair sometime. Pickle pizza originated in Rochester NY. New York has fantastic foods.
I'd love to go one day!

Rick's pickle pizza would be better with ham to play on another MN classic: Minnesota sushi!
Not a bad idea
There was a ham/pickle potato skin there this year

The dill pickle pizza is one of my top three each year!
It'll be mine now. I'm sad the pickle donuts wasn't there this year
