So yeah, there were just these random jokes about how they gave them these lavish gifts, promises and 'whores' to keep them motivated. Not much different than S-Bombers in the middle east...

A developed intellect and educational breadth of knowledge encompassing a broad range of topics to reference, as well as a quick wit, because you can't "yes and" effectively - or play characters of any depth or nuance - if you don't have a library of resources and knowledge upon which to draw. But sure. Can't teach it. Not influenced by environmental factors at all.

There hasn't been a show on Television, which I don't watch, that has been as good as MadTV, which I can declare without hesitation despite the fact that I have not watched any comedy shows since MadTV.
Mad tv was great because the skit ended when it needed to. SNL has too much time to fill, so the sketch ends up awkwardly floundering minutes beyond the punchline.
That's because MadTv was actually well written with a beginning-middle-end and actual punchlines, had a phenomenal cast of talented comedians (Deborah Wilson is an outstanding vocalist and voice actor), and was filmed in advance. Meaning they could do multiple takes and to post-editing. Which means we, the audience, got the cream of the crop every Saturday night with MadTv

Both Harry Enfield & Chums and The Fast Show pre-dates it. It's more akin to one of their skits : particularly Country Matters with Bob Fleming. (Which is likely where the cough comes from).
Im willing to bet that Will Sasso is top 5 skit comedy performers of all time. All the cast members had their own flare to the show but Id watch mad T.V. because of Will Sasso.
I wasn't a huge fan of MadTV, but they had some gems you never could have seen on SNL. There are some sketches like the the iRaq which were extremely subversive during the early part of the War in Iraq. Sasso and McDonald were par with most great SNL performers in talent.
LOL! I like when he is Arnold or "scooter" the monkey, in the "Super Smash Box-office Monkey Movie". He also impersonates a little baby mouse called uncle Choo-Choo. Hilarious!!
