I work in Pak’N Save Albany, and it’s usually fairly busy on Wednesdays, but last week on the day Costco opened there was barely anyone in store! Was a real nice change from Queen’s Memorial Monday when everyone in Auckland decided it would be the perfect time to flood the supermarket.
yeah its called the costco effect lol. Time to drop your prices Foodstuff! Also you said "nice change" but aren't you worried about your job???
@@kirklee8898 ah I’m not worried about losing my job, it was just nice not to be working my ass off and trying to weave in and around all the customers with a big pallet of vegetables.
Once the Hoo-ha is all ova we'll come back to PnS to buy those single items ova those Bulk items

I noticed on the Grocer website that Pak n Save Westgate has started to drop their prices on some products, that is good to see

I was a Costco food court employee before here in Hawaii and seeing those long lines in the Food court makes me cry .. hotdog and pizza maker must be crying while wrapping and cutting the pizzas ..
Hi Kyle, yes, I can only imagine the pressure that the staff were under on that day.
Couple of weeks time people will rush back to paknsave or countdown because of Costco's price but looking at it this is good competition for everyone
I'm in Auckland so here's some tips if your going to go to Costco
1. You will be in line for a long time even if it's raining
2. You will get tired
3. It will be crowded

Hi, I'm so happy to have found your channel for reasons you may not of realised as follows.
This is by far the best Costco NZ video, I love your concept of showing us without talking non-stop. It's good for people like me who are on the autistic spectrum. I would struggle with all the crowds but I still have a fascination after watching many Costco hauls from America. I am also terminally ill, have recently lost my parents so getting out and about is not easy and takes alot of energy that I don't have. By making this video I got to see it for myself from my own home so thank you so much for giving me a way to feel a part of the world. I'm going to watch your other videos as well.

Gotta stick to pak n saves or CD as I only buy a small portion of groceries on a weekly basis. Looks great though for those with a big family keen to save bucks.

Hi Jin, yes it really is a huge store. The prices are okay due to the bulk size of the goods there.
You guys are lucky they serve chicken wings & French fries at the concession stand..Costco’s here in the U.S. doesn’t offer it. 😢

I work for Costco in Canada and this mega store doesn"t even come close to our store in Canada. When I come to New Zealand for a visit I will take look and then tell my mates back in Canada it is flipping big.
This is just the first one here. Small country small costco but still big prices 😁.

Prices are due to bulk supply, a bit high because you buy more than you need 😉, as I learned. But, in saying that, it's worth a look. 😁
Looks like a lot of the pricing is pretty average. Maybe the hype. Also gotta pay an annual fee to just get in.
Yep, many will ponder the worth. I would say it's for the bulk buyers mainly, definitely not your typical Pack n Save type products in it. 😎
@@notalkjustwalkorride3928 I live in the states, and we have not only Costco, but Sams Club, and Walmart supercenters, plus Aldi. In the small city I live in, of 25,000 people, there's 6 major grocery stores. So competition between them is good. After awhile you get to know prices in the different stores. And shop hitting up 3 or 4 of them. But beforehand I'll look up the weekly sales prices online, make my list and hit the stores.
I’m thinking this store probably only for retailers and dairy owners because the savings will only come with bulk purchases. May visit one day 😊
