    at my work we have a actual yanmar engine and I got to say it has lasted its worth. It is attached to a compressor that runs a trailer with tanks for oil/coolant changes at generator sites. It does burn oil but I blame that on the lack of maintenance of my co-workers.

    Sweet,
    Could you do me a favor, could you pull the recall cover off I need to get a look at the flywheel I plan on putting one of those engines in my Craftman GT6000, as you probably know the drivers of the flywheel side of the engine.
    Thanks

    Does any one know roughly how many revolutions per minute the crankshaft does on tick over?
    Trying to work out if it’s worth using one of these for a project. And dont want to run it at full pelt constantly.

    I have one of those too, currently mounted in a Bolens. It is a clone of the Yanmar L100. You stop it by closing the fuel rack (which you are calling the throttle, and does in fact perform the same function as the throttle on a gasoline engine). I have a few videos of mine running, powering an alternator and other stuff. I need to upload some more videos of it.
    Keep us posted as to how well yours works out!

    for the shut off it either is on the throttle or it can have its own lever to shut the engine down so if you want to you can make a separate shutoff lever and Trisian102100 is right it builds up a lot of compression to make the fuel explode in the cylinder which makes the engine run

  • @JSW793

    Yeah, Diesels don't have any spark plug or butterfly valve for the intake because the high compression causes the air to get hot enough to combust when fuel gets injected, and that high compression actually makes them more efficient than gas engines. In trucks and such with diesels, it's an electronic shutoff solenoid (like on newer briggs and kohler engines) that shuts off the engine, but in this case it's the throttle, which is a fuel valve in itself.

      Appearantly Diesel fuel is hygroscopic, and takes on moisture with time. For storage, adding a petroleum-based water emulsifier and lubricant helps maintain its freshness.

    The injection pressure on these little industrial diesels is not 25 psi as you stated, but usually around 100 bar, or close to 1500 psi!

    • @macmckee1643
      @macmckee1643 10 років тому

      I doubt that

    • @hiyadroogs
      @hiyadroogs 10 років тому +8

      mac mckee You may doubt it, but you only have to check in the manual to know that it's a fact. No diesel pump could possibly even open the injector nozzle at 25 or 250 psi. I have this very diesel engine type mounted in my motorbike, & I assure you the injection pressure is 1500 psi. In modern common rail diesel cars, the very best injection systems are now up to over 2000 bar: 30,000 psi.

    • @hiyadroogs
      @hiyadroogs 10 років тому

      ***** You misread the comment, Paul. Mac wasn't stating that the compression pressure was 25 psi, but the injection pressure.
      On these chinese clone diesels, depending on the manufacturer & model, the compression ratio is usually given as between 18:1 = 265 psi, & 21:1 = 309 psi.
      But the injection pressure is normally fairly standard at 100 bar; = 1470 - 1500 psi.

    I have two of these two of these engines. The one on my woodsplitter is going on to it's 7th year now for my firewood business. It runs 7 to 8 hours a day 5 days a week with no problems. The other on I found in Uncle Henry's for dirt cheap, because the guy didn't know how to start it. He never primed the injector so it wasn't able to pick up the fuel. I got it home and it fired up on the fourth pull so now it is running my wood conveyor.

    Nice.
    You're correct that to kill a diesel you kill the fuel supply. In a lot of older trucks you can turn the key off and pull it out and it'll keep running until you pull out the kill lever. (Like my Mog, and the older Internationals we use at work) Can't wait to see it in the Sears.
