I’ve been a long time fan of Joe Rogan. But I feel like everyone is going easy on him. Dude is crazy irresponsible with his platform. He’ll have the worse people on and defend them to the end of the earth all the while agreeing with every point they make even if it’s a point he’s disagreed with just the week before. No one gives him shit for this! Even you just now took it easier on him than you should. Defending Alex Smith is just a foul move. This is a guy who has the president’s ear and Joe is writing it off as “anyone who’s taking him seriously is the actual problem not Alex”. Joes just a huge hypocrite. Whether it’s excusing Sam Harris’ racism by saying “are we Asian supremacist then”, excusing Milo’s hate speech by calling him a provocateur, excusing Jordan Peterson’s asking of women should even be allowed in the work place, Amy Schumer’s joke stealing. The list is just getting super long. Dude even said that if Joey Diaz was raping women he wouldn’t end their friendship.
I don’t want JRE to end. But I want him held accountable so that he’s pressured into doing better. Hiding behind “I’m just a comedian, I don’t know shit” is not an excuse for that behavior or for the extreme laziness he displays intellectually on a consistent basis. He doesn’t even ask the obvious questions. You’ve got one of the most popular faces from the NRA on your show talking about how we need more socialism to combat inner city gun crime, and you don’t point out that he’s giving money to an organization that’s come out and made it clear that they are against the Democratic Party wholeheartedly? How does that even make sense, Democrats buy guns too. Why not press him on why he’s okay with how the NRA handled the killing of Castile? You can’t let a dude who’s the host of their biggest show simply claim he’s not an official spokesperson and doesn’t agree with Ted Nugent and then distance himself from everything that organization he’s supporting has done.
Agreed, Rogan goes way too easy on guests, for whatever reason. He seems more interested in looking intelligent to them, except regular listeners have heard it all a hundred times before. Still, if anything it's good to hear their views - just cause you listen to someone speak doesn't mean you agree with them.
Truth is, he doesn't seem bright enough to ask those kinds of questions on the spot. He's just trying to have an entertaining show.
Tho if you watch the JRE with Alex on, Rogan takes every opportunity he can to look up and verify what Alex starts ranting about. Props for that.
And yeah, he does need to do better with the kind of platform he has now. Hopefully he will.
Btw Jordan Peterson isn't against women in the workplace.
