  • In this video we had the opportunity and great pleasure to film England Internation Sea Match Angler Joe Plumstead, We learned a lot!!!
    This is a slightly longer video than we usually produce , but we couldnt trim it down any more and not lose information because of this there will be other videos that come out of this session so keep watching.
    Joe is a thoroughly nice guy and an excellent angler. we also met his son Harvey, who is also an up and coming sea Angler , Harvey will no doubt carry on the 3 generations of Plumstead family tradition.
    Tony has this theory , you cant win a match if you are being filmed, so hes been sending CJ to film all of his rivals, watch the video to the end to find out if it is true.

    A trip down memory lane for me as an older match angler,fished next to Joe's dad at Southwold in the 1992 Samf Masters final.
    Talent obviously runs in the family.

    Super interesting - also that backwards pendulum cast. I fished that exact bay recently with Tony's frozen salted lugs. Thanks for your efforts CJ.

      @@tonystackleseamatch398 Fished from about 1pm till 8pm (sunset) 2 rods and only got a gurnard and two weever fish. Still, 2 new species and a great day out. Threw lures in the morning at sunrise at Cow Gap - no luck as there were about 12 seals about. Love fishing at Eastbourne.

    Just a question, is Joe Plumstead related to Billy Plumstead who I use to fish with when I lived in Eastbourne. I just cannot believe how the years have disappeared if that is the case. Also, all the talk of catching dogfish! You would never see a dogfish caught off the beach in the late 70's.

    • @tonystackleseamatch398
      @tonystackleseamatch398  Рік тому

      Bill Plumstead , is Joe's dad. And you are right the species of fish on the beaches here have changed .

    hi ya, i was always taught when snagged to walk along the beach against the pull of the tide, then back the other way, some times maybe 50 yards or more to get out off it, i know in a match its all about time but that could be a bigger snag there now, also being an ex field caster the main thing is a solid foot base, there is no need to be in the water where the ground may move, you could have mentioned those two points for lesser anglers

    • @tonystackleseamatch398

      It wasnt a casting lesson, i was just filming what Joe does. Thank you for your observations,

    • @leerichy6489
      @leerichy6489 Рік тому

      @@tonystackleseamatch398 The time when Joe moved into the water further was when he cast up the tide to the right....I would say it was to avoid the high posts of the breakwater catching his line as the lead settled and moved to the left in the strong tide. Just my thoughts.
      What I do know is....someone with his experience and talent....usually do things for a reason.
      Very good film again CJ, I can see this Channel growing very quickly.
