I honestly would love a video of Matt teaching tricks to Ben, Jamie, and maybe Jono. Could be a whole series really. Would be cool to watch the progression. On a side note. I’m not overly familiar with all the tricks and what their names mean. There is an old video of Tony Hawk breaking down tons of tricks in slowmo. Would be cool to see something similar with MTB/BMX
Just had that operation a few months back due to same problem with the clavicle not healing, recovery was pretty quick and my shoulder been so much better since. Wishing you a speedy recovery Matt 🙏🙏
To get the slip and slide to work. You need to jump off the extension into the slide. also, try doing it wearing a skin suit, reduces friction and will bond well with the baby oil and washing up liquid
I dont know that it will ever work. Ive built one before with a foam ramp into a pool. I think the issue is the arc of the ramp. Unlike a bike that rolls and can pump. He is not only trying to go back up but back up and arc. The load into the ramp is going to kill his speed unless it starts still on the roll in. The ramp we made was foam thankfully. About 8ft long and 3ft high and it was enough to launch about 20ft but still going down hill
Wishing you an easy surgery and a speedy recovery. Love the videos as always! Don't rush the healing process, take it slow. You're still young and it being the end of summer, it's the perfect time to have it done.
Hi, its Tak Broadhurst from Bowenvale NZ (The Vale Christchurch) .Ive had the Latarjet shoulder surgery, you will be immobile for a month but you can rebuild AND it is far stronger afterwards. Chin up mate.
I pray for a safe surgery and quick full recovery Matt. Love you're videos. Definitely could make a whole video of Matt's "progression" at fakies from day one to present day. Call it recovery series maybe.
Slip and slide tip, lower the ramp to landing expectations. Or understand that gravity is both creating the speed and pulling into the friction of contact. You’d be better on some kind of board or hard flat surface which would counteract the negative speed force of gravity + friction. See sleds for reference
Good luck with the surgery Matt hope all goes well and wish you a speedy recovery! Look forward to your update and the future playground builds take it easy and keep us posted!!
first off, good luck on the surgery Matt, hope the shoulder doesnt keep bothering you after its healed! but i think the reason the "slip-n-slide" isnt working, is because of how tall the lip or 'take off' is. it works with bikes becasue there is very little resistence to keep body weight moving. with out them though, there is too mcuh loss of momentum due to the lack of pumping and getting the pop out of the lip like you would with a bike. I would assume a shorter lip (height wise) would work better, but then the person on the actual slide woudlnt make it to the already existing airbag, really the only way i see that it would work is if you got a smaller airbag (renting unless you buy one to use in the new backyard build) but thats really the only way i can see it working. the content idea is great, part 1 was really entertaining! keep it up! :)
hi matt to help with the slip and slide conundrum you could pull the air bag and ramp far away and attach a water ski towing rope to your van to gain more speed hope you reed this and it helps
Great vlog Matt as always, you guys always make me laugh. All the very best with your surgery and heres to a speedy recovery.Cant wait to see you riding again.
Good luck with surgery and rehabilitation! Enjoy your time off, and I’m excited to see what content you and Ben are able to come up with over these next couple months.
I’m currently rehabbing from 4 broken ribs and a separated shoulder, timer of the bike is a bummer, but I’ve gotten around to some projects and reading that I might not have if I could spend every evening at the jump park. Try and enjoy the time off for what it is, and try to not get too bummed out 🤘 can’t wait to see more playground builds when it’s time
Glad you're getting that surgery done, Matt. And I'm excited to see the other guys riding! Maybe you can bring back Sam to tackle some of the more technical new features you think up.
i might have to have that surgery myself at some point. i am not looking forward to it. hopefully all goes well with your surgery and you have a quick and complete recovery.
ok bro simple physics..go from the start further up and make the ramp way less steep.. and turn the airbag around so you have the 1 meter high end to land on! have fun, hope i get to see the waterslide working. also get an airmatress/swimringthing for more speed. love your content. wish you good luck with the surgery and good recovery. get well soon and keep me entertained 😅
So I used to work at a water park and there is actually some technique to increasing your speed on a water slide… you can arch your back and lift your butt off the slide so all your weight is on your heels and your shoulders. This reduces your surface area in contact with the slide so friction is reduced. Not to mention shorts are not as smooth as skin, so alternatively you could just slide nude.
Good luck with the surgery, I had my collarbone plated after a displaced fracture that didn't heal. 10 weeks post surgery and feeling great, riding again etc etc
Good luck with the surgery and a speedy recovery Matt. With regards to the slip n slide I think your take off angle is too steep, try an angle that doesn't require as much energy to climb up so it doesn't slow you down at take off.
Interestingly our group has just been involved in a longitudinal cohort study assessing mid-clavicular shaft delayed non-union treatment. In your case because it's a very clear hypertrophic non-union and you're young and quite fit I think good reduction and consolidation could be achieved without an iliac crest autograft. Generally an anteroinferiorly positioned 3.5mm 7 hole pelvic locking compression plate can be used for reduction and fixation, but that could require a removal after bony fusion because they tend to stick out somewhat, if correct anatomical reduction can't be achieved after transection they'll probably opt for a cancellous bone graft from the iliac crest, which generally has very good results. Best of luck and interested to hear the followup.
@@algodong The autograft is used to improve healing, it gives your body a better platform to initiate osteogenesis. So 'what is the chance of the autograft failing' is a less important question than 'what is the chance of ORIF and consolidation failing without an autograft'. While it does depend on the nature of the non-union (I'd hazard a guess that you'd be in the atrophic category), generally for older patients, who experience bone loss rather than bony sclerosis/callous formation, using a bone graft is indicated. The body has a harder time with healing the bone lost to resection the older you get, so if I were you I'd probably want to go with a graft.
12:52 The look on Jamie's face when he realizes he spent weeks building the trails with rock hard clay only for Matt to say "you know what we need? Another hip."
Matt idk if you’ll read this but when I was younger I would go to water parks quite frequently as we didn’t have a pool, and I was able to figure out if you arch your shoulders while crossing your arms and keep your core tight you can basically just ride on your shoulder blades and heel (I recommend crossing your legs.) Effectively massively reducing drag! Probably not the first to discover this lol!
Had Clavicle Surgery on 14th of August after i shatterd it into 5 pieces.. got it fixed with 1 plate 4 screws and one rod to connect the two main pieces together... doc told me u good to ride again in 6 to 8 weeks
Good luck with your surgery dude, my only advice after your bone graft is don't sneeze!! Broke my femur didn't heal 3rd surgery they did a bone graft from iliac crest it worked. But trust me don't sneeze for at least 3 weeks!!! feels like you have just ripped every stitch and staple they put in you!! Heal quick

Video idea while Matt is out: "Best of" series with all the best crashes, jumps, tricks, and moments from over the years.
Yes please!
Plssss
Yes I agree
He’s gonna be in a digger building the big line at playground whilst he’s recovering
Yeah in agreement. Will keep Ben going for a few weeks.
Just had that operation a few months back due to same problem with the clavicle not healing, recovery was pretty quick and my shoulder been so much better since. Wishing you a speedy recovery Matt 🙏🙏
Me too man

i don’t understand why they haven’t gone off the top.
as well as taking out the slack in the tarp. making it super smooth
@@HalmarkCreates Yeah that would work 100%

whats the chance of the autograft failing, Im over 60 now (see above)
