Lucas is protecting his family. He doesn't want to leave because he knows he has to let Theo leave the small town and be free to live his life. It's a sacrifice the big brother has to make. Someone has to take care of their parents as they grow old.
That's the type of big brother most gay men needed growing up. He's flawed, but cares & can't save Théo from all gay trauma, but saves him from the hetero love triangle/ tease/ going nowhere relationship of the other guy in the team
Wow. What a beautiful film. This was a very complex story between 2 brothers who love and trust each other and their choices in life. I wish this was a full length film.
This is the real life. The first sex stories so often miserable and not convincing that we all have to get through when we start. How i envy these young guys that have met the right guy at the first time. The fear of sex, the not right person can kill the desire. This film is delicately played with a lot of sensivity. Bravo !
This is a good ending idk what y’all on about. Not every gay movie have to be romance, this movie is about brothers and how older brother makes sure that his little brother can have a better life in the future and not getting caught up in the dark side of gay world. Nathan and the old dude aren’t good enough for him, Theo deserve better.
His brother could appear toxic and abusive. If he really liked him, he wouldn't say "these fucking faggots" in front of him and his parents. And he would not have prevented him from going with Nathan, thus pushing him in a bad encounter. " Nathan isn't good enough for him" And how do you know that exactly?
theres no such thing as 'dark side of gay world'. its pointless blsht like 'dark side of hetero world'. the only 'dark side' here is homophobia and how its spreads all around the world. and make people hiding themselves from the others.
Very well made movie. A precise portrait of the loneliness and pain of LGBT people who grow in homophobic and conservative environments, specially in small towns...
And, the dangers of a young male without any guidance on how to handle such a situation in the company of a meetup, when a situation turns strange. One must know when to leave and not look back.
There are so many silly, stupid, terrible rom-coms that people love because they have happy endings. This is an example of a really well-made film. Outstanding writing, directing and acting and a unique, but realistic and believable story. I wanted to see more of the lives of Theo and Lucas. One question: what happened to Theo's motorbike after Lucas picked him up?
I did, or thought I did, as he was very accepting from the start. But also bad-tempered at times and occasionally violent, so I had to keep at a distance. I always appreciated the acceptance, though.
I tried to imagine what I would do, if I were in Theo's situation. I probably would have met with the man, despite Lucas's warning, but I wouldn't have stripped in response to being abruptly told to do so. The story is both sad and endearing. Thanks for sharing it.

Théo is such an innocent beauty longing for love and closeness. He is so lucky to have such great support in his big brother. Apart from sexual intimacy, I dare say they are as close as two humans can be. I wish I had such a brother. And although I did not grow up in the middle of nowhere, I feel the loneliness so bad... Christopher: It's hard to think of any gay comedy short one has seen, isn't it? That's what it sounds like you are hoping will come along now and then. I wouldn't describe this as just sad. Theo knows just how much his brother loves him now. Every time the homophobic baloney bubbles up out of Lucas, Theo is not sure. However: 1) Lucas would have smashed Harry to smithereens if he had gotten his hands on him; 2) "You were right to call me." In addition, we are left with the thought that Theo will soon leave their rural area to seek a new life. He won't be stuck in the closet forever, and may end up the happiest of them all. Lucas will stay at home and either be a salesman or coach the soccer team. It's not clear whether he will fall in love, though he may get married and raise a family just like his parents. Have you ever seen people in a deeper rut than the parents? If one is left with sadness, it's because Lucas and his parents are not able to break free, and they know it.
Confesso que prendi a respiração por diversas vezes, durante o filme, com medo de que o pior pudesse acontecer. Mas fiquei feliz em ver como a relação dos dois como irmãos é boa, onde podem sempre contar um com o outro.

Yes, I got the feeling that older brother is closeted too. Brothers should help each other out in any way they can. My older brother never had my side, now we don’t talk anymore.

Without watching this video a second time or reading any comments, my only thought is.....Run, Run, Run as fast as you can. When your Gay or different in anyway from most of the world, you cannot live just anywhere in the world. You can only survive where there is no or little ignorance and that is sometimes difficult to find.
This is a really sad film. Beautifully made. Tension throughout without any need for violence onscreen. I I have to disagree with lots of the positive comments about the brothers' relationship. The fact is that Theo is being abused almost as much by his brother as he was by the bloke he met up with. Instead of being positive about Theo being gay he hates it quite openly and aggessively stops Theo seeking a more normal relationship. I think it's really Lucas' fault that Theo is forced to use grindr. Theo needs his brother but that relationship is not going to help him one jot in the long run. Theo is stunning btw.
I think its a bit nuanced but you're pointing out something that others have missed. It is true that there is a lot of hostility towards Theo from his brother which make him a more complex character because his love for his brother is competing with his personal hate or disgust of homosexuality and in a way mirrors Theos internally struggle between shame and desire for companionship.
@@gideonros2705 I don't think that Lucas has a real problem with gay people. He hates it for his brother because he knows what Theo will have to go through. We know this because Theo has confided in Lucas.
i kind of thought there might have been something with nathan..... but that's just the 'romantic' in me... haha.... either way, it was a good film.... and good see lucas support his brother.
They both know they are gay. That's why it was not surprising that Theo asked Nathan to leave the party with him. I think they actually already hooked up too, hence the book Nathan returned. The brothers' relationship is so messed up.
It's a metaphor that Théo and Lucas will be going on the their new journey. Despite Lucas told Théo he would stay his football field, Lucas is still with Théo to leave. Because of Lucas's love to his little brother, he chooses a path with Théo for protection and guide. I quite love this ending. (Side note: The scooter is for moving on and the road is a journey.)
I had a similar experience when I was 17y.o. Was confused at that age and the thought of family and friends knowing my business got me caught up with a man much older than me. But, you live and learn from those situations... or you should.
Why are people saying that the brother is supportive? He is borderline "tolerating" it, he scared away the other guy that seemed interested in his brother which lead him to that bad encounter at the hotel, he basically fucked things up and caused problems
For me, it reflects my own experience in youth, with an older brother much like Lucas, completely accepting yet an the same time using homophobic language because that was common in society and among his friends at the time. Lucas 'scared away' Nathan because he thought Nathan was just playing around with Theo, who might wind up getting hurt emotionally. Pretty common, I think.
I remember doing these encounters when I was in highschool w men 3X my age... I remember thinking, these poor guys just want to feel young again, to feel like they still matter and I pity them because they searched for love so long and they just couldn't find it... I remember every single guy and their names to this day because each one was different but they all had one thing in common, they all wanted me to be their lover but I told them... Listen, I can be ur desire, ur forbidden Romeo, ur tabboo, ur wildest dream but that's it, I'm not ready to commit because I'm too young to fall in love, I just want a have fun... I know they all remember me because I'm that young boy who was wise beyond my years and an old soul which is how I got along w them because they loved that I wasn't just a pretty face or a nice fuck... I told each and every one of them to never give up on love somewhere out there there's always hope and when they find it don't let it go
gross. What a waste you are. I was a young guy who came out at 16 and would have killed for someone to be seriously interested in me and am now 40 and never got that first experience you had access too. But you just want to have fun. What a waste
We do not see such brother dynamics with an elder brother protective of his younger brother for him being more vulnerable on account of his sexuality. Granted he says homophobic problematic shit in front of him but its obvious not because of his hatred of the sexuality but the harsh societal norms that confine minorities and the dark void that most young queer men fall prey to, he cares for his brother and wants him safe with an actual partner that cares and respects Theo and that's why earlier on he questions Theo if he has someone queer in his class someone of his age, I feel its the direction's fault here to resort Lucas projecting homophobic language for no reason given that Theo confided so far only to his older brother, which shows that he felt safe enough to have his older brother knowing about his sexuality so him using homophobic phrases seems out of place. This is also highlighted by the fact that he despises Nathan who has a girlfriend playing around with his brother's feelings. He is a very likeable character and quite a fresh representation of a loving and caring older brother and the director's missed opportunity by just having him sprout random homophobic comments which he knows would upset Theo just falls short of this character reaching its true potential. Apart from that, I would the short film is note worthy and would not mind if it was actually a film focused on the dynamics but please loose the random homophobic comments from the brother for it makes no sense for the character :)
Hey, hi Internet friend. I have a different point of view. Please bear with my brief storytelling analysis of this short film. Lucas is a game of amateur soccer and Théo haven’t come out with his family and his any friends except his brother, Lucas. They both are living in the countryside. To them, their world is hard to accept Théo's sexual orientation. They both used a kind of homophobic language. Lucas is soccer which represents one of the muscular sports. For Théo, he wishes to hide his sexual orientation. Additional, Lucas totally accepts his litter brother is gay and Théo trusts him too! He wants to protect Théo and show his strong enough. His homophobic language represents a protection shield for Théo. However, it’s also hard for him to confront their parents. The conversation between Lucas and his mother implies he told her he has no idea about Théo has a girlfriend or not. A pure white lied, but he doesn’t like that. The whole short film wants to show trust and honesty. It’s why Lucas was so mad that Théo had lent a book to Nathen and didn’t tell him about the book and Nathen invited Théo to a party too! That’s why he acted like a jerk with homophobic judgments about the TV drama in front of Théo and their family. Théo felt awkward and upset to leave the table. Here might imply their mother has known already because she wants to watch the show to understand her little boy. Later on, we saw Lucas enters Théo’s room and pick up the book which Théo lent to Nathan. Here shows Lucas feels sorry about earlier and also wants to know more about Théo, may also he search for an answer from the book why Théo didn’t tell him about he has a crush on Nathan (By the way, the book is “HOWL”, a poem book.). If we watch more closely at the peak of the film and the aftermath. They both don’t use any homophobic language anymore. Despite Lucas telling Théo, that he would stay on his football field; Lucas is still with Théo to leave. Because of Lucas's love for his little brother, he chooses a path with Théo for protection and guidance to him.
@@zet7220 -- An excellent analysis I agree with absolutely. I wonder how many caught what book it was. Howl, by gay American poet Alan Ginsberg, stirred up quite a controversy at the time, in the 1950s. Lucas reminds of my older brother who was much the same, completely accepting of me and protective, ready to beat up a guy he though was using me (but who was actually my first real love), which I had to dissuade him from doing. Yet at the same time he used coarse homophobic language because that was the norm in society and among his friends at the time. Plus he had anger issues and a tendency to violence, whereas Lucas has the same but to a much lesser degree. So, to me, this film was very very real, reflecting my own experience in youth. I have watched it multiple times since first viewing, bringing it to the attention of my partner and various friends. Absolutely loved the music as well.
Ultimately a very sad story. The gay brother has to leave - leave his village, his home, his background - in order to survive as a gay man. The straight brother can stay. Is that message really so beautiful? I would prefer a society in which the gay brother isn't forced to go into an exile. And the straight brother - I am not sure he'll be so happy staying there, putting up with the forced absence of his brother.
I wonder how many confused young guys have had the misfortune to have their cherry poped by the older married man - quite a few i would imagine because thats the type he goes for - easy to fool ,easy to get into bed and easy to mount - then cast aside job done and on to the next with no chance the wife ever finding out - you can see in the clip it troubles him but thats how it has to be - the only upside to this is the valuable lesson he is teaching these guys that will make them stronger and more able to survive the bumpy road ahead

When your Gay or different in anyway from most of the world, you cannot live just anywhere in the world. You can only survive where there is no or little ignorance and that is sometimes difficult to find.
His brother is very good and handsome.
i just love Pierre so muchhhh
this movie is so well done
casting acting cinematography but the story made me sad❤️👊🏻🎥👏🏻🙏🏻☘️
Hallo I'm gay need to partner can we talk
This is actually from a few years ago. It’s very good 👍
This is a really sad film.
@@Tomy_Yon thanks for your input!!
I think Nathan knows Theo is gay, but all he wants is to tease him.
@@philzmusic8098 sometimes teasing is fun..... and sometimes it just leaves you hanging!
I like this short movie, but I never understood the ending. Who's in the motorcycle?
theo and his brother
It's a metaphor that Théo and Lucas will be going on the their new journey. Despite Lucas told Théo he would stay his football field, Lucas is still with Théo to leave. Because of Lucas's love to his little brother, he chooses a path with Théo for protection and guide. I quite love this ending. (Side note: The scooter is for moving on and the road is a journey.)
@@zet7220 -- A lovely interpretation. I saw it as if they were just headed home, but I like your take on it better.
I can relate to this in so many levels, 😢
Lovely family values
Thank you for sharing this film. Cool!!!!
Good movie man, thanks for sharing
I had a similar experience when I was 17y.o. Was confused at that age and the thought of family and friends knowing my business got me caught up with a man much older than me. But, you live and learn from those situations... or you should.
I can relate to Theo a lot, it’s very hard to date out there.
Loved it so much!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lucas loves his brother regardless of his sexual preference... 😎
Alguém sabe o nome do ator que interpreta o Théo ?
Why are people saying that the brother is supportive? He is borderline "tolerating" it, he scared away the other guy that seemed interested in his brother which lead him to that bad encounter at the hotel, he basically fucked things up and caused problems
For me, it reflects my own experience in youth, with an older brother much like Lucas, completely accepting yet an the same time using homophobic language because that was common in society and among his friends at the time. Lucas 'scared away' Nathan because he thought Nathan was just playing around with Theo, who might wind up getting hurt emotionally. Pretty common, I think.
What's the name of the song at the party at 12:00
Also eines muss man den Franzosen lassen, Filme machen können sie !! Super
Great story.
shook that the moped fit in that car lol
Beautiful!

I agree but the truth is,not everyone finds their true love.
Thankyou for the Indonesian sub
Gracias por la traducción siempre quise saber que decian los actores 🎬👍🏼
Nathan's drunken state reveals that he loves Theo and is honest with him, but Theo's brother stands between them! 🤦
Obrigado pelas legendas em português
Ultimately a very sad story. The gay brother has to leave - leave his village, his home, his background - in order to survive as a gay man. The straight brother can stay. Is that message really so beautiful? I would prefer a society in which the gay brother isn't forced to go into an exile. And the straight brother - I am not sure he'll be so happy staying there, putting up with the forced absence of his brother.
Great film

Mais pourquoi tout le commentaire sont en englais 🤔mais où trouver ce film complet
Legal, adorei, irmão bem protetor
A mí me salen los subtítulos al costado izquierdo de la pantalla y solo se lee la mitad, el final de cada oración
What The name of Lucas?
Realmente, a felicidade não é coisa deste mundo
This is very good.
That's Nathan on the back of Theo's motorcycle in the closing scene, isn't it? Hmmm...
