    11 years have passed and this is still one of the best short film ever made. What a MASTERPIECE. I remember being in high school when I first watched this. I didn't understood it that much back then but I kept coming back year after year and when I fully understood the message of the film, I cried. This is just so beautifully done. The message is powerful that even if I watched it so many times it still strikes the same.

      I have watch this film also for several years and watch it again today. It brought tears to my eyes because I also hide who I was for 58 years. Lying to myself, but at the same time knowing. At 58 I meet the man of my dreams and we are married. We still live our private lives because we have jobs that deal with the public. My family knows and his many done support us but that OK we have each other.

    I remember when this was first posted. I was just blown away by it. I still am. It's powerful. And the fact that it makes all its points in less than 15 minutes is astounding. Some actors are good - they're half-way convincing, but you don't maybe feel all the ache, the bitterness, the anxiety they're trying to portray. With these guys, you feel it ALL. Or, I do anyway. In other words, they're not acting, they totally become D and Crim. A lesson for us all, even straight people should see this. Gay life is often far from easy, and if you get through it with no pain, you're damned lucky.

    OMG!!! Amazingly good! I believed both characters and the simple quiet of a home under tension, D's look of pity and sadness when he looked at the angry, uptight Crim. All he wanted from Crim was acceptance of his nature and to stop expressing his self hate in ways that would affect his kids. How many times have we had a fight with our partner, stormed off only to sit in the car, drive aimlessly and and wonder what the hell were we doing!
    Standing ovation here!

    I keep on coming back to this movie and re-watching it over and over. This movie is so intense. It is definitely something I will return to in the future to watch again. . It always gets to me when D says . ."I need you to say yes, I need you to tell me you understand" and when Crim says "Please don't leave me, please don't leave me". One man having to fight to keep his public persona even though it is at odds with his private life and the other person loving his partner but having to stand up for what he believes in even if it means the end of the relationship. Powerful story! Wish more gay films were like this.

    Last relationship that I had was similar with this. My ex was keep acting that he was a straight and ignoring all of the facts that he was gay. Same things, job, families and friends were the things that he had to create a boundaries from his sexuality. It wasn’t a toxic relationship yet it was very unhealthy relationship for my mental cause I was fully accepting for who I was and so proud of myself for being gay, but he wasn’t. It’s all over now...

He may not want to be associated with the more fem aspects of homosexuality but he sleeps with a guy for three years and thinks he’s Bi? The other guy should end it know and move on.

    I lived a very closeted life while serving in the Navy, with 4 years with Marines. Most of us did our best to hide, even mask our sexuality. Sometimes that meant saying hateful, hurtful homophobic comments -- actions to go along with the words, too. This was pre "Don't ask, don't tell." It was painful on many levels. I hope things are better for our service men and women.

    • @MrLourie
      @MrLourie 8 років тому +64

      +musicmojo100 Your response is to ALLOW someone to be abusive towards another, all in the name of job security and personal insecurity. Let "grown" people be whoever they want, even if what they want is the reason for another's fears and tears. No! They're not very adult if they use their circumstance as an excuse to express their anger on innocence rather than those responsible. No one, for no reason whatsoever, has the right to inflict their own troubles upon another. And, absolutely yes, I would out anyone who abused me. I say this because it can very close to my doing so a few years back. I did not go through with it because I demanded an apology and I supported him as he cam out to family and friends. Contrary to what is most often depicted of gay men not being able to protect themselves, I can. And, though it was necessary only twice in my experience, I am the one who does the ass beating.

I not an abuser, someone you seem to want to defend. If the issue involves me, then of course I will handle as I see fit. "To put it bluntly", maybe you, yourself, are guilty of such acts.

    This might be the best short film I've ever seen. Had to rewind the last shot.. I've been through this and I've known a lot of people that also did. Yes, it's heartbreaking but when you love someone you'll go through the worst just to try to be with them any way you can. Ugh.. all these gay shorts keep making me think of this one guy that no matter how hard I try I can't get him off my mind. Anyway.. brilliant and moving short film. Love it. 💖

    Cuando un hombre le dice a otro, (en el caso de este corto) "no me abandones y te amo" es la mayor muestra de amor
    La homofobia es la careta que muchos se ponen, para esconder su homosexualidad, y es una lástima, porque nadie les pide que lo declaren, sino, aceptarse.

    Movie is great outside of one moment. When Krim says he's bi, and the following conversation. It makes some sense for the self-hating homophobe to say this, and hell I almost believe he is bi, he had a wife. Either way, when D responds "Where's the girl?" it is bullshit. If the issue was whether he is bi or gay, then asking krim to prove his sexuality is no way to argue. Are you gay if you are still a virgin? yes. So why do bi ppl have to prove themselves? Besides, the issue isn't his sexuality, it is his disrespect for his boyfriend and his homophobia. Please don't conflate identifying as bi with being closeted or homophobic please. It hurts us all.

    • @brandenblinn
      @brandenblinn  10 років тому +9

      its is often the case in intense emotional moments that we say things that are neither logical nor fact...as is the case here. Although Crim may remain married with a wife and kids he has been living with and sexually engaged with D the entire time. There hasn't been another woman, or a girl or anyone else for that matter in their relationship...just the two of them and this is what D. is alluding to. Not so much that Crim hasn't had women but the fact that D. hasn't...nor has he ever wanted to.

    • @skylarwolff1608
      @skylarwolff1608 10 років тому +1

      I know this is 7 months later but I think D was saying that he himself wasnt bi because Crim told him that he was bi as well when he knew he wasn't. D was saying where was his own girl trying to prove to Crim that he (D) is gay not bi.

    • @RockingEveryday
      @RockingEveryday 10 років тому +2

      I think Dean was referring to his boyfriend forcing the "bi"-title on him even though he (Dean) is gay and with "Wheres the girl?" he means, that there never was a girl in his life and never will be, so he is not bi. After all he said "No, youre bi" even though Dean said multiple times that he was just gay.

      UA-cam will age restrict anything with swearing and nudity. Because we feel the message of this film is important to all ages, especially those who are just coming to terms with their own truths, we modified the film for EVERYONE. We opted to not restrict it to the whole for the fancy of the few. We're sorry that you are offended by this, you're welcome to go to our pay-per-view channel where, for a nominal fee you can view the film in its entirely without bleeps and cuts.

    In my opinion, the issue with the guy was not that he was secretly gay- everyone is entitled to his own way of telling people or not telling people because that is his business. The bad thing being addressed is his hostility towards others and being disrespectful with violent tendencies. Whether you are in the closet or not, the least that you could do is to be kind to others, regardless of who they identify to be.

(I’ll edit it when I get the correct spelling) and the movie was really good, the guys where hot (one of them was soooooo beautiful) and they had a happy ending. And also a couple of years ago I watched another gay film about these two dudes from different countries (Arabic countries) and one of them is facing difficulties in his country and the other one who is wealthy snuggles him to like France and they met and live happily ever after (I can’t remember the name but if you know tell me) that film was beautiful and the scenes where like amazing. Also if you want another happy ending gay couple watch Spartacus !! But yeah you right majority of Gay films and movies have sad ending like dude gay people have happy endings too

      ***** Well at least you have arguments to defend your opinion (which is good) but I still think it's wrong to call homosexuality a "choice" because of the following reasons:
      - you're using one of the terms that always comes among homophobic people (it's like using the word "faggot" to me);
      - preference is definitely not a choice, you didn't choose to prefer chocolate rather than vanilla, or the color blue rather than red.
      - if it was a choice, I think there would be no gays on this planet, regarding how complicated being gay can be! (And I speak as a Frenchman with great parents, family and friends).
