Did this on Christmas day. Had to strip black paint off our bricks. We absolutely love the color scheme (same as yours) of the brick. Not too many houses in the US have this brick color scheme. Applied a brick sealer and boy does it bring the colors back to life.
@@samsmyth-nh4ko the stripper bought back the original color but it was a dull color... the sealer made it pop in the brick color.. so yes it darkened it but it how the true color was.
Hard to find help with an INTERIOR wall. Can't use a pressure washer indoors! I installed a brick veneer wall and I got too aggressive with the sponge and grey-washed the entire wall. The wire brush worked well and a matte sealer enhanced the brick without adding a sheen. Cheers from LaLa Land, California.
Hi there, this is so helpful, thank you so much!! we’re looking at exposing a similar size wall - want to get it done pre the builders coming in and doing some work, what kind of length of time would you recommend to allow for the whole project (probably 2 people…. DIY)
I'm putting this on repeat while I do exactly the same thing very soon in an old barn in Poland mate.. so thanks for this. (exactly same plaster on sides too, just making it feature wall). One question though, sorry if you may have said - on my wall, I found the bricks have been laid in an uneven manner.. some levels are slightly indented etc.. What should I do about this? Leave it alone or somehow shave off the ones sticking out, or fill in the ones indented?? Any advice appreciated.
Beautiful. I have a building that is two stories high and over 5,300 square feet with ONE ENTIRE side I want to use. The Outside wall is brick with stucco over it and inside it is that entire wall that is brick I would like to expose. This is nice but it would take MONTHS to do all of the brick. I am at a lost.
What are your thoughts on using stabiliser solution instead, or is it pretty much the same? Eg stormdry solution Did you have to repoint before doing this?
Wow........I'm surprised you didn't seal the brick before painting? What's the reasoning for doing it that way round? Cheers mate......informative as usual.

Did it make brick n mortar a darker shade than before?

Does your brick still look bright two years later?
@@BuddhaScribe still looks great
That looks ace! Thanks for the tips 🎉
Wow, that looks great! I'm stripping the paint off my fireplace bricks but the color is flat. Might try this..
Great job and a lot of elbow grease!
How long did it take to clean that area? How many sqft or sqm there are?
Lovely clean job
Thank you
Cracking job bro! I’m about do mine, just as you have 💪🏻
Thank you.. makes a big difference..
I came here for the know- how, stayed longer for the satisfying brushing sounds.

does this stop damp if you seal it both sides ? ,got a job that has damp on one wall ,it's pretty obviously the pointing wasn't done correctly

Would leave it see how it looks when finished, it may add to it . Thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating Nice one, thanks very much!
Where did you buy the sealent please
A good way to break in pure bristle brushes mabe ?
Love the look
Looks lovely but can the wall still breath if used on a old lime mortar wall ?
My question also. It creates the efforfesence
Does the brick and mortar stay that darker colour or does it dry the same again?
It does stay darker after it's dry, but may lighten slightly. Thanks
Do i need to do this if im putting plasterboard on the brickwork?
no not like this but you're better sealing the brick before applying any dot and dab. Diluted PVA is good. thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating Thanks so much for reply and super quickly!!!
Would diluted PVA 5:1 be as good as using the 'No Nonsense sealer' ? It would be a lot cheaper as the sealer is £15/litre?
No PVA helps with porosity of a surface helps keep dust down but it does not seal... Thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating Thank you - makes sense!

Does it leave a sheen?
No
What kind of brush did you use to out the solution on? Masonary brush?
No it was a 2" pure bristle brush... so I could work into the small areas. thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating I've tried using stabiliser and it does make the wall look darker. No idea how different it is to what you used.

Did you have to repoint before doing this?
Looks well that 👌
Are there ongoing maintenance considerations when exposing brickwork like that?
This has always been exposed built like this.. Once sealed just needs cleaning..
This might be a silly question, is there any reason why you didn't seal the brickwork first ? Looks terriffic by the way
So much to do and the customer wanted to check colours.. all walls and ceiling are being painted again.. thanks
So this can be a sealant and paint over it?
No it repels water and oil should not be painted.. thanks
@@PaintingandDecorating sorry, do you mean that the sealant is oil based?
@@PaintingandDecorating or do you mean the no nonsense stuff should not be painted over?
@@justintemp sorry my wording... it is not paintable. Thanks
Could you use a jet wash to clean it to save time.
Not really it's inside maybe outside. Thanks
spray with acid, sponge with water, spray with sealer. maybe im just lazy lol

So much going on the customer wanted the colour on the walls and they all need touching up or recoating yet. Thanks.
@@PaintingandDecorating got it........cheers mate!
