  • NOTE: CORRECTION on REDUCTION PLUG LOCATION . After doing further research online the Reduction Plug is to go into the 2nd B Port ( 2nd port where water returns to the pump from pool). If your skimmer is not working you can put this reduction plug in the 2nd port (NOT THE ONE THE SKIMMER IS HOOKED TO) and that will increase the suction on the port the skimmer is attached to in order for the skimmer to work. I will say that it still will not work with the little pump that came with the pool. I apologize for any inconvenience but the directions are very misleading. Thanks
    In this video I demonstrate how to assemble and install the INTEX Wall Mount Surface Skimmer. Show you that it will not work with a filter pump that does not pump a minimum of 1000 GPH.

    Yes i had one 2years and I just got the Haywood Skimmer . finally took The plunge and cut a hole in my pool. The other one worked OK but With kids moving around in the pool with that hanging over the pool it was always pushing it up out of the water and the other pump would lose its prime. what a pain in the neck it was. And what a big difference with the Hayward skimmer my water. no bugs it's crystal clear and i don't have to Use the leaf net I would never use that other one again .

    Love it. Speaking my language. LOL Yeah, some say they had a valve on the 2nd intake to reduce the flow. I will install using the crap pump but once I get my sand filter ring replaced that I had on my 36x 16 then it things will be filtering just right. Of course the TX heat kills the tubing. I will end up replacing with that flex spay 2" and PVC pipe. Thanks for the tip. The instructions really dont fully describe the how to except basics. These little tips may help others spending hours scratching their heads wondering what in the heck they are doing wrong. Like with everything, gotta do some "engineering" to get things to work just right.

      @@papawsplace Mine arrives by Friday so got lots of prep work removing the old pool and now thinking about a skimmer. Saw some guys cutting larger inlet holes for the 1.5 inlets to feed their sand filter and cutting a skimmer hole. Hey, if you say it works good, then I will give it a shot. They are only $28. My only concern is if the sand filter fires up and the cyclone suction works too well on the skimmer the grand kids may get sucked into the vortex. LOL

      The polaris 65 works great but you must have a pump big enough to run it. The little pump that came with this pool was a joke. I upgraded to a Sandpro75D 3/4 hp and it run the polaris65 but that would be as small as a pump I would recommend, I now have a 1 HP VEVOR pump and it runs it better than the 3/4 HP did.

    I ordered one of these for my 22-foot Intex pool, getting tired of netting the leaves, I ordered mine from Amazon, and it's the US Pool Supply brand, but it's pretty much identical to the inter one, and still hooks up the same way. I also ordered and installed a Vevor pump and filter system on my pool after seeing your video, worked great until yesterday morning when I went to backwash it before leaving for vacation, the lid to the strainer basket on the pump sprung a leak, I think the seal just needs to be seated again, I just got frustrated with it and didn't have more time to mess with it, so the pump will remain off until we return next week.

    • @papawsplace
      @papawsplace  11 місяців тому

      The seal on the strainer has to be put in after the strainer basket, it has to be in the little groves and then tighten the lid down. It does get a little aggravating, but I use a little board as a handle in order to tighten the top down.

    Can you undo the hose that goes to the bottom of the skimmer and hook up a normal pool vacuum to it? I was just wondering because it has the adapter that you would need to be able to vacuum a pool and in pools with a built-in skimmer that's how you vacuum a pool but you put it in through the top. So I was just curious... 😁 Also I have a 16x48 Intex it came with the pump that is round on one side and has a little hump part on the other side did yours come with a pump like that or did yours come with just the little round part that holds the filter?

    • @papawsplace
      @papawsplace  3 роки тому +2

      The direction is a picture only and it does not explain anything only a picture. After doing research online the reducer plug is to put in the 2nd B port (water going from pool to Pump) I assume if a persons pump is to small you can reduce the 2nd port to help the skimmer get more suction through the port it in to make the skimmer work. I know I should have made another video on the skimmer. I put in the description below the video ( after doing further research) it goes in the Other Port B hole. If your pool has two Port Bs ( water going from pool to the pump) If your pool only has one port B then you don't use it. Even if you have two Port B's and your pump is big enough that the skimmer is working good you don't have to use the reducer plug.

Two things though I can’t seem to get the valve pushed all the way in to the b port inside the pool. Could that be the problem? Is there a flow thing at the bottom of these that should be open or is it that I need the stopper thing in the other b port? I’m so confused as to why this isn’t working but it’s a toss up between not enough HP or that I can’t get the skimmer blue valve thing pushed all the way in??? Please help!!

    • @papawsplace
      @papawsplace  3 роки тому

      I assuming when you say Valve Thing your referring to the skimmer hose / fitting that sticks into port B hole. If so, it will not stick all the way in on this pool. And yes you need to put the reducer stopper into the Other Port B Hole. Even when you do this your not gonna have a lot of suction with this size of pump but if it enough to suck water over the top of ( the Blue Floating Part) skimmer as trash floats by it will catch it in the basket. This Intex Skimmer is made for Intex Pools is why it's not the perfect fit. Mine does not have a lot of suction but it catches trash and bugs. I'm betting when you put the reducer plug in it will work.. 👍

Are you familiar w pumps that you buy separately? I have a Harris pump, I unplugged mine today and plugged it back up a few minutes later and it didn’t turn back on. This evening I plugged it up and it hummed for about 30 seconds then stopped. It’s brand new. It’s been hooked up to my pool and sand filter for 2-3 weeks and has worked perfectly. Any idea? Thank you for any help you may be able to offer!!

      That don't sound good. First let me ask few questions / statements. If you have it hooked to an extension cord and the cord is to small OR the cord is to long it can affect the amount of power going to the pump. The pump has to get the proper amount of electricity to run. If not it will burn the motor up (so to speak) The longer the cord the bigger the cord has to be. If your not running off of an extension cord and the pump is new I would send it back. Something is not right. Also never run a pump with out water / hooked up to the pool. It will also burn the motor up.

      @@papawsplace I do have it hooked up to an extension cord and it is long. I haven’t ran it without water at all. So you think the cord is possibly too long therefore working too hard to get the power and burned the motor up? Is there a way to find out if it is actually burned up? Do you know why it would work though until I unplugged it? I’m sorry so many questions. 😔

    • @papawsplace
      @papawsplace  3 роки тому

      I would plug your Ports A & B remove the pump and take it over to your electrical plug and try it without the extension cord. If it comes on don't let it run long (just a second). If does not come on Look in the manual and see if the pump has a reset button somewhere. If it doesn't have a reset button and it does not run while not on extension cord then IDK that's all I know to try.

      @@papawsplace I went out there this morning and plugged it up and it’s working fine. I tried hooking the hose from the skimmer to Part B. The water level dropped in the basket of the pump and the suction dropped significantly. The jet basically stopped shooting water out as well. So of course I unhooked the skimmer and after less than a minute the basket filled up in the pump. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m going to call Harris Customer Service today. Thanks for responding to all of my comments 😁

    at 5:39 you mention you have a vague direction about the reducer plug. That is actually a Drain plug and not a reducer. It is used for when you need to disconnect the hoses on the outside of the pool to stop drainage flow. If that is in there you have zero flow to the pump.

    • @papawsplace
      @papawsplace  3 роки тому +3

      No Sir, That is a Reducer Plug because it has a small hole in it. So it will not stop flow it reduces the flow...Thanks

      Hello Mr. PAWK, This skimmer has been working well for me BUT I have the GAME Sandpro75D Sand filter /pump. This skimmer did not work with the little pump that came with the pool. The pump just can't suck enough water for the skimmer to work the way it's designed to work. And even with my Sandpro75d I have one of the Port B holes plugged (with the plug that comes with the skimmer. it has a little hole in it)
