I am so grateful to have been worn down after so many years of striving in my flesh to enter into His rest. I cannot do anything apart from looking to Christ and being renewed daily. It is daily for me, otherwise I will stray away and try to drag myself back to the chess board and try to strive in my own strength. It is when we are weak and realize that apart from Him we can do nothing, Amen. Thank you DB.

Thanks, Brother David ... This is the purpose of God ... to bring us to an END of ourselves and our WRESTLING with God that we do, like Jacob, to try and prove we are worthy and our works are righteous. But God keeps us in "checkmate" on the chessboard of life until we realize that God is NOT interested in playing a chess game of man's righteousness but God wants us to stop playing games and receive a NEW life of JOY and Rest in Jesus Christ.
Loved this. I went through an awful depression/spiritual depression years ago because my life didn't look like everybody else's. I felt like because my life wasn't a certain way that I couldn't be useful or valuable to God.... and then that led me to "maybe He made a mistake by saving me" and I really felt like He was trying to get rid of me. Like He was scraping me off His shoe. I had to really fight back hard with Scripture and I came through on the other side of it, but I really felt like the enemy had really tried to take me down and take me out, but God had other plans. That's why He had me fight back with His Word ❤ I came though it knowing He loved me, but not like I know now with the better understanding I have now. Thank you!

I LOVE newness of life! The Lord floors me every now and then, when He does the thing. And who knows what are the effects of just one of those times in our lives, when the very life of God overtook, and flowed from within us with newness of life. Everlasting weights of glory!

Not sure if you’d hear about “Main Character Syndrome” but that’s what it sounds like with that chess analogy. Only to find we are not the main character but a side character apart the main characters quest. This was very edifying God bless brother.
Enjoying this. I'm 18 mins and 14 seconds in and I had to pause you when you mentioned the discipleship video. Everything is so connected. I'm reading through the gospels because of what I've heard you teach on discipleship. So earlier in this video, you were talking about how there is no shifting shadow with God, He won't turn on you and He is facing me with a smile on His face. I couldn't help but think of when I started reading Luke- the account of Christ's birth she the angels said "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is well pleased". All this makes me see everything differently and things that didn't quite make sense start to click into place.

This video came up right after I just watched another video you made a while back about newness and it’s all like a message that I needed to hear. Like I was walking through the store the other day and pondering my life and a lady in my proximity said it’s all going to be ok I promise. I believe that was God speaking to me through that lady who had no idea what I was going through because I didn’t have any expression on my face.

I love this chess match imagery, totally aligns with my experience with Him.
Now that I’m defeated, I can look at all my past striving and toiling with Him as part of a friendly competitive game that I was destined to lose (but like the kind Father He is He made the game interesting and let me think I had the upper hand at times lol)
Now that the game is finished, it’s like I woke up from a dream, the conflict is over and I’m just hanging out with God my friend every day now 🎉

I used to listen to GES Dr Bob Wilkins. I thought he was a he was a Grace teacher. He spoke about Grace but talks about punishment for sin, and after that I just couldn't listen to him anymore.

I would never die for the whole world, even the people who do evil. but I guess that's why he is so righteous and loving

Once you actually can rise above the din of the loaded gospel (it's called 'bait'- hooking you in bc you can hear truth, but cannot yet discern between that which is good and acceptable,) and HEAR the voice of your Shepherd, which is easy to entreat, you taste a rest that is so refreshing, you will NEVER go back to the wolves. At first that taste is so fine, it quickly escapes your palate, but you KNOW that it was exquisite, and you want to experience that taste again and again!!!
Newness is sometimes minute by minute bc you still look at your chess pieces in that exact same regretful manner - "had *I * not done xyz... maybe if *I* just move this piece here, I can start over and He will finally accept me...

Hey brother, can you explain acts 21 - why paul purified himself and offered a sacrifice - showing the people he did not leave the law of moses? Why did that take place if He rebuke peter in galatians for something similar - not walking uprightly according to the truth of the gospel.
It's not the same thing. It was a trap. He knew he was walking into it, but he knew it was going to be the way he would get to Rome. The spirit showed him he would be delivered over to the gentiles through it. But he was not walking like a hypocrite pretending to be something he wasn't. The law in Israel was not just ceremonial or moral. It was civil and he was being accused not just of being a law breaker. The way Peter was like being unrighteous he was being accused of stirring up sedition and riot throughout the whole country. And causing the people to rebel against Israeli law. He had the Liberty to be all things to all people. When he was among the Jews, he showed that he kept the customs and did not stir up discord. He taught that if you do these things to be justified then you are in bondage. But at the same time he also taught we use our Liberty to be all things to all people. So in Romans 14, he told people not to judge people who consider one day above the other as long as they're not doing it to be justified. In Galatians. He even said circumcision doesn't mean anything or uncircumcision but a new creation. In Acts he had Timothy circumcised so is not to offend the Jews in one place. It's hard for us to understand because as gentiles we don't live in a theocracy. But the law was not given to the individual to be justified. It was given to the nation as a witness. So Paul actually didn't end up completely going through with it anyway because the riot broke out. In Timothy, he said God delivered him from the mouth of a lion. Which is a reference to Daniel. Being in the lion's den where you can't move, God has to intervene. And that couldn't have been speaking about his imprisonment because he was in prison. Rather I believe it was God intervened so that the council of men was not carried out. The riot broke out. He just yielded himself. That's another thing about Paul and the apostles. They did not. Lord it. Over the faith of local churches, the local church always had to exercise the authority and they would submit in a sense. So it's a very complex situation. On the one hand, God delivered him. On the other hand, he was demonstrating to the Roman and Jewish authorities that he was not the source of all the discord that he walked peacefully. He he told Agrippa that he had always kept all the traditions. The traditions were connected to civil order and if you're in Jerusalem as a Jew, you live as a Jew. Hebrews and Galatians were written to churches that were not in Jerusalem. And they were written to people who were on some level thinking to be justified by law. The problem was not just the people. The problem was the existence of the temple system. That's why God had to allow it to be destroyed. As long as it was there. There's no way for the church to proceed without confusion, especially for Jewish believers.

I understand Israel is Guilty of the unforgivable sin. I also understand (I think) that today there is no unforgivable sin because Jesus blood covers ALL sin. And we're under the dispensation of Grace. Therefore no one today can blasphem the Holy Spirit contextually.

I answered you a number of times ago that it's not that you just say something bad about the holy Spirit. It's that you believe that the work of Christ is evil that his association And extending Kingdom benefits to sinners makes him Satan that's what they accused him of in that chapter. They were angry because he was extending Kingdom benefits to lepers and prostitutes and that's why they called him unclean and said he was Beelzebub

And it's okay. But you will not find peace and assurance by going to 5 different walls asking 10 different questions. You got to learn to STAND in the gospel. 1 Cor. 15: "1Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you STAND, 2by which also you are saved, if you HOLD FAST that word which I preached to you". They not only received the word - this is how they got saved - they learned to stand in it and hold it fast. How do we do that? By proclaiming the truths of what Christ has accomplished for us and thanking Him for it. David has a book "Preaching the gospel to yourself", it's short, daily-devotion style messages full of such truths. I suggest you buy it, it should be very helpful.
