I recovered a bone marrow transplant 7 months ago after suffering AML with myelofibrosis for almost 2 years, it was terrible going into 60 blood transfusion finally with God almighty's help leukemia has gone now I'm starting a new life with my own family.
Good to see Stem Cell transplant being used effectively for AML also. I had APML in 2014. Not sure how I got through but I did. Sickest patient she has seen survive apparently. Anyway I was lucky to have a Stem cell collection after as I now have IgD PC Multiple myeloma and AL Amyloidosis. And will have a ASCT in the next month.
I'm going through this now. It's been two months since my transplant for Multiple Myeloma stage one. It's been rough. I'm depressed, mostly alone and have had to take care of myself, but I maintain a positive outlook all the same to get me trough.
I have had my transplant over 1 year now. I had/have an aggressive form of systemic sclerosis. Was looking at a wheel chair before and now I'm gardening and working in the yard. It took a good 6 to 8 months before getting better. Went through Pericarditis and other side effects afterwards but worth it. Stay positive... oh and steroids like Prednisone can really be hard on you mentally. Keep that in mind.
I am going for allogeneic stem cell transplant this week. This was a very good video; informative, reassuring, and the presenter was very knowledgeable and fluid in her presentation. Thank you.
@@kendall6439 thx Kendall. I am starting Maintenance Cycle 18 this Tuesday and still MRD Negative. Hope to row at the European Indoor Rowing Champs in 3 weeks time and the Worlds in 7 weeks time - both occasions I will be wearing my MyelomaUK orange singlet - just trying to build awareness 👍💪
Hi great video as always 🤜🧡🤛 I am having high dose chemo next week & stem cell transplant on Thursday. I am also going to be treated as an out patient with recovery from home instead of staying in hospital for the 2-3 weeks. All will be revealed on Thursday 🙏🙏🙏I have all faith in Professor Jackson at the Freeman hospital at Newcastle.
@emmanuelking9988 Good morning & good luck with your stem cell transplant 🙏 I had mine in Nov 22 unfortunately I was only in remission for 10 months when the Myeloma came back in 2023. I've been on a VRD chemo treatment since Oct 23 hoping my paraproteins become stable 🙏 Hoping & praying your stem cell treatment works for you 🙏 Take care & wishing you all the best for the future 🤜🤛
Thank you. I am still in melodysplastic syndrome due to heavy metal poisoning and have been having trouble getting straight answers from my doctors. They say I can survive on blood transfusions but my marrow is so messed up that a transplant is all that will save me.I'm 74 and I'll have trouble getting one and this helps me get my facts straight. By the way, this would be much easier if we yanks had a single payer health system like you.
Wife dhad it last month instead of staying in hospital we went home altera week . Went in quarantaine both and did a3 times a week short check in hospitaal. Being at home helped a lot . For recovery. (Dutch)
I am still awaiting the results of my blood test to see if I've got myeloma. However, I am concerned regarding the steroids and chemo therapy. I am type 2 diabetic and do not wish to increase my weight. Staying in hospital for 2 or more weeks is not on for me, not even for more than a day as I live with an indoor rescue cat I do not wish to stay in a cattery. If it can't be done as an outpatient I will have to decline the steroid and chemo treatments.

Will hospitals in Ontario allow an 84 year old in good shape both mentally and physically treatment or clinical trials?
Very helpful thank you
How much time of the whole procedure
Atif, it varies. I am here because my brother who has multiple myloma is undergoing a stem cell transplant.
Will stem cell work for Ed if the prostate is removed, for a senior 75 years old?
