Hi Pete, I just found your utube site. This vedio has helped me out a lot, I had to reroute water lines to my cabin after losing my farm house due to hurricane 🌀 damage. Thank you for sharing
Good job Pete! I was a little confused though as to why you put a sleeve on to connect the two pipes together rather than just connecting them with a 45 cent pipe connector extension? I would worry about the rubber inside the sleeve eventually getting old or loosening up and causing a leak. Keep up the great videos. Cheers
It doesn't get that cold here but, our frost line is 12 inches. But earlier this year we got down to 5F one night and I put a piece of plywood over the top plus we had a few inches of snow covering the box and had no problems with other water line boxes on the property.
Keep track of where you put the sleeve connection in. You will to replace it in about a year. They should only be used for non constant pressure applications like a sprinkler lateral line. Use glue joints for constant pressure lines like mains. I made the same mistake and it was a costly and time consuming experience.
Sorry for the late response but for some reason your comment was held for review. I didn't want to just depend on my well for water, the pump could fall at some point so I want a dual source of water.
My daddy taught me a trick a long time ago...a way to stop that dripping water is to stuff bread in the end of the pipe. The bread will dissolve and be fine.
Pete, was the well already there when you bought the property? Do you know how deep the well is is? I’m in Dallas area looking to go to east Texas and wondering how deep wells are in that area, generally.
My well was already here, but I know that it's 300ft deep and the pump is at 180ft with the water table in at 99ft. It will cost about $10,000 to have a well drilled here in east Texas with pump and pressure tank.
Normal size home , awesome shop , self sufficient , beautiful property with no neighbours ......dude you are living the dream !
Thank you, I've said this in the passed, but especially now in the times we're living in. We need to get out of the cities and into the country.

Curious about running both sources of water through the same pipe. You drinking the rain water? Do something to ensure it's potable?
All water for drinking and cooking is filtered and goes through ceramic filters.
Pete, do you put heat lamps in those boxes during the winter or put insulation on the lines and valves?

what county are you in? Our water is shallow.
Pete - New per video update request: In each video regardless of topic - water tank level status report! Or semi frequently. Please. Thanks!
We've only had it rain twice here for a short time but we collected about 1800 gallons in total so far.
If you have a well why use rain?

Next time your digging near a line dig with the line and dig to the side of it. This will keep you from grabbing the line.
