- I bought 125 of 2024 1 oz Canadian Maple Leaf silver coins from Costco...was it a mistake?
EDIT: I stand corrected. We do get 2% cash reward from Costco and 2% reward from Citi card.
I bought several tube of American Eagles and Maple leafs through costco, saving me just over 200 dollars had I bought it through Amazon. But they run out fast. Since I mail order it, I have to check for it's availability (when they are out) several times a day. Once I see that they are available,I purchase them asap, otherwise they will sell out quickly. Dealers are probably buying from Costco then flipping them for a profit.
I did pretty much the same. I search for them on their website daily. I wont be surprised if dealers buy from them as well :)
Good score, Homey! I don't have any silver or gold. But, I own shares of Costco. I'm as happy as you are, for you! Costco selling gold and silver has been a hugh boon for them. I can hardly wait for them to report their quarterly earnings on May 30th!
Not worth it! Taxed in many states and your purchase is traceable. My LCS does not tax or record cash sale.
What’s it matter if they track?
I'm not 100%. I do believe I got 2% from Costco Executive member and 2% from Citibank. I use it so much and cash back rewards are not immediate. You're the first to say metals don't count.
Stand corrected. I just checked my Costco account details and I do see it in my rewards. Als, my citi card as well. Wow! How are they even making a profit? Thanks for the comment.
Check their website often. They didn't have Maples available yesterday, but I picked up 2 tubes this morning (5/9) at 9am. They were out of stock by 10am. The 2% rewards eligibility may vary by state. They gave it to me in FL. I paid the same as Wolf even thought spot had increased to $28.
Thanks for the info! I'm from CA
I just checked my Costco account details and I do see it in my rewards. Also, my Citi card as well. How is Costco even making a profit?
I would keep checking back cause supposedly a limit of 5 on the 10 ounce bars but that is per transaction not a lifetime cap
Thx yeah i was able to buy more! Silver eagles!
I went to the Costco store today (5/26/2024) they have the Gold bar PAMP at the old price of $2,399.99, online is for $2,449.99. It seems you have to check the local store first in case they have some leftovers and haven't changed the price yet. (Spot price today is $2,335.20)
Yeah i saw a lot of people saying the same thing as you but for my location they never display any gold or silver for customers. Im in Los Angeles.
I watched a video where a guy bought 5 bars from a Costco in Florida and he did get the 2% back on his card. You might want to double check that. Edit: 10th subscriber! Just started stacking last year myself and my first purchase was maples as well. I got maples with the last year with Queen Elizabeth on them.
Hey James, thanks for being my 10th subscriber. So cool! Yeah I started stacking on 2017. With what's happening around the world...I'm glad I did.
I just checked it today, did not buy them, on the checkout is showing that you get the 2%
"Total$4,149.95
You have earned approximately $83.00 towards your Executive Member 2% Reward on this purchase."
You get another 2% if you use there Citi visa
You're right, i got them too. Thx
That's correct
Is Costco going to by it back when you need to sale it ???
Saving a few dimes to kill the S.B.m. or the L.C.S is not work it !!!....
No, Costco doesn't buy your silver coins back. Also, they have a no return policy. This is why I always record my unboxing just in case they mistakenly ship the wrong items or the wrong quantity. Costco's customer service is really good though so I'm not too concern about getting my money back in case something goes wrong.
Don't be ridiculous. They don't buy anything else back, including jewelry, etc., you gotta be really naive.
Here in the U.K. we have to pay 20% tax on silver, that’s why I only collect gold coins like Britannias.
Oh wow i never knew that. Thx for your comment.
Britannias are my favorite.
I pay no sales tax in my state
I have been getting the 2% executive awards after I have made the purchase's of silver coins from Costco, Shhhh, do not mention this to Costco!
:)
Do you have any experience with investing in gold and silver IRAs? Would like to hear others opinions/experience with that.
You can buy 5 more every week when the limit resets.
Oh, really? Thanks for the info! :)
Yea i was about to ask how often we can buy them
Just bought 39 1 oz Buffalos, from Walmart, at an average of $14.34@. Spot is just over $32.
Great pick up!...
Thanks!
Very nice to know infromtion.
Thanks!
I would like to get into stacking coins when do you think it’s a good time to jump in
I got that same UPS pack and opened in in like 1/8 the time you did 😂
No Tax on precious metals in Fla. and many other states
In CA you need to buy over $2K in order to exempt from tax.
Outstanding purchase!
Thank you!
why take them out the sealed tube
just to feel it. just curious, is it worth more inside a tube like 5 years later down the road?
Worth the same i hamdle mine as well...i gitta feeo the goodness i purchased lol
If you never open the tube then how do you know they sent you real silver.
If you paid $30.39 per coin and the spot price at the time was $27.48, that means you paid a 10.58% commission. That's a good rate for a silver coin.
Thanks! I feel lucky I got some before silver price shot up.
@@StackingWolf Great! I'm happy for you. Good job! It's all very pretty stuff but, I don't buy silver or gold. Instead, I have shares of Costco. So, even though I don't buy any silver or gold, I benefit through their company stock.
Bought five tubes 1.50 over spot if you spend over two thousand in ca you don’t have to pay sales tax
That’s right. Cheers!
I buy two monster mint sealed boxes of ASE'S every year. 1,000 bullion strikes in eagles alone.
Nice Maples!!
Thanks!
I bought 120 silver eagles from Costco best deal out there!!
125 coins
Good job, Joseph!
I’m your seventh subscriber
So cool! Thanks!
It’s good for Costco, likely not good 4 u. Ag has been 1 of the worst “investments/insurance” for decades. Wouldn’t trade u a single round of ammo for all your shiny rocks
Wow the Apmex spot is over $31 less than one month later 😮
Crazy, right. $100 in 1 year.
SALES TAX??????
It depends on your state. In CA if you spend over $2000 there’s no sales tax.
Does Costco buy back? Nope, better keep in with your local coin shop.
💯
I have a question for people who buy these SMLs... Does it matter to you that King Charles is on them now? I won't buy any silver with him on it.. I am wondering if there are others out there who avoid Charles' effigy when buy silver.. i cant find any discussions about it on the net..
Did you have to pay sales tax on that?
No sales tax.
Yup they have gold and silver, Sub
Can you buy single coins ?
No, they sell in a tube of 25 coins
Dude, give the cap a 1/8 twist and pop the top off...save your nails.
oh really it can twist off? There's tape there, it's so hard to get it off! Had to use a box cutter.
@@StackingWolf You will need to cut the security tape but after that you can just twist it and pop the corner of the lid.
got it. thanks for the tip!
G99d video thank you!!
You’re welcome!
New friend and Sub here 😊🎉
Thx Johnny!
Did you get taxed?
No sales tax
In CA, you have to buy over $2,000 for there to be no sales tax.
I think its state by state. In Washington state there is no sales tax on precious metals, I actually didnt even realize this and was buying silver from private parties for a while just to avoid getting taxed lmao im an idiot.
Lol. Yeah, you're right, it's state by state. Some states tax with no exemption. I try not to buy too many coins from one dealer. I try to diversify my purchases from different shops and online dealers as well.
Leave them sealed 💀
Some people say to leave it sealed and some say to open it to count. I like to open it to see it and stack it for fun :)
Why leave it sealed? No one will buy them till they confirm what's inside. By breaking the seal. No one pays more for sealed tubes. So just curious why you'd say to leave it sealed.
I'm not 100%. I do believe I got 2% from Costco Executive member and 2% from Citibank. I use it so much and cash back rewards are not immediate. You're the first to say metals don't count.
@@ReeferGil “No one will buy them till they confirm what’s inside”…Proceeds to explain that he bought them without confirming what’s inside. E-commerce must only be available to you. 🤣
@@MG-ge5ii how old are you? Of course you buy them sealed from vendors who bought them straight from the mint. If you're buying second hand, you open them.
If silver goes up in value and you want to sell them we'll Costco buy them back or do you have to go to a pawn shop and get Horn swallowed.
Costco wont buy it back. You typically sell it to a coin dealer. They would buy it back a little below silver spot price. Dont go to a pawn shop they will rip you off.
Save it to trade for food in future or barter for anything
Do not go to a pawn shop. They will buy them but a much reduced cost from the spot price. Best to go to a reputable coin dealer who pay you a much better buy back price or SD bullion or other online bullion dealer will give you a fair price.
Its not a matter of "if", but "when" silver goes up in price !
Does costco charge you more if you pay with credit card
Nope. It is same price
