I like how the manager is honest about the fact that they designed the shops layout to basically trick people to buy stuff, I mean they do need the revenue so...
This is the standard, even supermarkets and groceries are design so you attempted to buy more things than your need. It is called layout optimization iirc.

I am a former baggage handler there, it's a airport with a good soul to work, you can buy almost everything even after usual german closing hours. But 11 years are enough...
Flying from the US for the past 25 years to MUC with a connecting flight to HAJ, we never missed our connecting flight, never missed our luggage, transition though boarder patrol so smooth… MUC gets a 10 out of 10, FRA a 1 out of 10 ! Keep it up MUC !!!

Well if you really want to put each on the cart carefully like you probably would. The first thing comes off is time. Imagine yourself in their shoes, say an Airbus A320 and two guys maximum lifting the bags and put them on the cart. We are talking about 100 plus bags possibly. Not all people but most will get it close to the limit weight so here comes the result. If you did end up getting into the waiting area it can be another half an hour before you receive your bags again. The other part is worker can get really tired, lifting that isn't a joke they are heavy as hell. The case was designed in such a way that a throw isn't going to break them, plus fragile items have a dedicated area to be handled. Actually talking about rough, the conveyor belt in the background has much harder force than a baggage handler can do.
@@mr12Robbo Agreed, that drop seems almost designed for the purpose of damaging luggage😠 Now the cracks and broken off bits of plastic on my suitcase start to make sense...
I found that Yank overly annoying too... "I won´t bring gifts next time" all that walking lack of intellegence would have had to do would have been to check the German customs website to find information on what´s allowed and what not. If he would have declared his give aways he probably wouldn´t even have to pay for it-good thing they caught him, and he got what he deserved for not respecting our laws. Don´t follow American laws and you´ll be either, jailed, shot or deported-so, well yeah...^^
Yes, because the "bomb" threat is taken really seriously (at least at the munich airport). IF they can't identify the owner of such bag within a couple of minutes.... the whole airport could be shut down until the bomb squad arrives... which sometimes can last hours until the situation is cleared. In such situations EVERYTHING gets delayed.
I have been there a few times, amazing experience. I have never seen that level of sophistication to garbage containers - in an airport - anywhere in the world. I just do not know why it is called the Munich airport when in fact it is Lufthansa airport.
Flughafen München „Franz Josef Strauß“ (named after the former bavarian politician and minister-president) serves as a hub for Lufthansa but it is not the name of the airport!

12:20 I've heard a few stories from a friend, who works at an airport, about US citizens, bringing hand guns in their luggage, and then claim "2nd amendment rights", untill they're told "that dosen't work outside the US". Luckly, there's a few years between each case, the big question is "how did they get them ON the plane to begin with, don't they x-ray the bags or something?" One of the most important things before travling to another country, is to check what you may/may NOT bring INTO the country, then what you may bring OUT of it, and then what you MAY AND MAY NOT bring into your own country for your trip home. It sucks to be send back home, because you had something in your bag you were not allowed to, and equally sucks to have most of your souvenirs confiscated, because you're not allowed to import it.
In February 1973 i went on a skiing trip with school, I should have flown into Munich Airport from Manchester UK . As it was fog bound we landed somewhere in the DDR. We were never told we're we landed. We got on busses with curtains closed and armed guards back into West Germany. Our main disappointment was the planned trip to the 1972 Olympic site never took place due our late arrival 😢
fun fact about beer and the airport: it is named after franz josef strauss, a bavarian politician who was famous for his public appearances, as sonetimes he would be completely wasted.
