    Now that I don't work at Polaris anymore I can enjoy former competitor brands for what they are instead of how they stack up. This Can-Am is a really nice quad!

    I have been a Dirt Trax fan all my life. When I was a kid I subscribed to the magazine. But life happened and it was not always easy to keep up with u guys. Things are much better these days for me than when I was going through my younger adult years and a good while back I rediscovered you guys on UA-cam. It may be too late for a short story but lol to cut it shorter 😅 I just want to say a big thanks to you all at Dirt Trax for all the great content 👍

    Thanks for the review. This exact model (2020) will be in my garage next week. I'm a hunter and as you have said, this model provides everything you need and nothing you don't. It seems to be the perfect package and I've heard nothing but excellent reviews of the 650 power plant. My camp is 4 kms down some of the rockiest Canadian Shield that you could cross. The off-road jeep clubs call it "Hell's Run". Can't wait to drive it onto camp.

    You got it right, we bought the 2020 650 Outlander camo and it's all you said. I find it's a bit on the heavy side and kinda like riding an Oldsmobile, but very stable. I also have the Polaris 570 which I prefer to ride in the trails, it's a bit looser and lighter, and almost as peppy.Thanks, Jon

    My honest review of my 2019 can am max 570xt. Love the way it rides and handles. Did 150km ride on this past weekend and it didn't tire me out or make me sore. It is all stock. The winch works really good, power steering is good, would like a little more assist at moderate speeds. The front visco lock works really well for me, i actually don't even care to have a manual locker. The drive train has been trouble free. When the machine was new the amout of heat from the drive belt was almost unbearable. That got better after about 250kms. Now the bad: The plastic is way too easy to crack, even in warm weather, it actually really pisses me off. Since day 1 the fuel level has never read proper. Ot has been back 6 times to the dealership. It may be fixed now, i will update down the road. The dealership has been awesome to work with, BRP needs to figure there stuff out. Over all though i really do like the machine, and the 570 is plenty of power even with 2 people on it.

    Great review. I totally agree on the 650 being the sweet spot in engines. I have had Can Ams with 500, 650 and 1000 and my favorite has been the 650. I like the fact that the tires are the HD ACT's. Older models had the regular ACT's and in my case, I punctured one on the sidewall with a fairly small stick. Nice machine!

    I have a 2014 650XT. I would buy another one and would do just as you said, get it in a package with options. The mud deflectors alone are $129 US and should be on every Can Am. I get soaked riding but this time of year I don't mind. My son just picked up a 2017 1000 last week and I like my 650 XT better. It is way more manageable on the trail. It will do everything you said and really is just an superb all around great machine. I will be following this review for sure.

    I have a 2006 Arctic Cat 650h1 and I love it. To me it seems like the 600cc atvs are just the perfect sweat spot for an atv. As nice as it would be to have those bigger atvs, for me I don’t feel the need to have them. I would most likely use the bigger ones performance based vs work/play performance. Would you do a review and test ride on the new John Deere Gator XUV 835r. I want to know what your guys thoughts are on it seeing that you have done a review of the 825i, and perhaps do a comparison. i bought the Outlander XT850 camo a couple months ago and i absolutely love it!! i was trying to decide between the 650 and 850 but i wanted the new intelligent throttle control (ITC) that is only available on the 850 and 1000 models. there is zero thumb fatigue after a days riding and you can switch between eco, normal or sport mode and i havent needed sport mode at all because normal mode is absolute ridiculous power!! Also, the 850 only cost me 900 bucks more and guys on the CanAm forums told me i would regret not choosing the extra power over the 650. The only 2 things i dont like is the 16 grease fittings that is too much maintenance for me and the 850 runs HOT which is annoying on a humid day. I use to be around Can am’s a lot a few years ago. I and other people would notice that the 650’s hold back was a lot more/aggressive than the 800s and 850s when letting off the gas. We felt like it made it hard to putt or go slow, because it would almost load the front suspension. We never did figure out what it would take to get rid of that as far as adjusting the clutching?

      On my 2019 sportsman 850sp which I actually just got back yesterday from the dealership, I had some transmission problems. The shop said it had a broke switch shaft subassembly (caused it to not shift in to any gear besides high and low), and a primary clutch one way bearing was worn bad (causing it to drive slowly even if the gas was not being held). It has only had 1,400 miles on it. Gladly I purchased the extended warranty so I didnt have to pay a arm and leg for it. Just had to pay for a new belt and 50$ deductible. I also was not very impressed with the ebs on the trails at Hatfield and mccoys it was very jerky when you let off the gas. Many people have told me you just have to get use to the throttle but the pace I want to go down the hill is right in between where the ebs kicks in and no throttle. Im sorry if that was not good explanation for the ebs but im not sure how else to describe it.

      Honda and Grizz have the superior reputation for reliability and durability, out of these three, this Outlander is most powerful. As far as ride quality, the Honda and the Grizzly have soft and cushy suspension and there's noticeable body roll in the corners that isn't as prevalent on the Outy.

    • @dirttraxtv
      @dirttraxtv  3 роки тому +3

      I love the Grizzly a lot, but in this comparo (Grizzly XTR vs Outlander 650), I have to give it to the Outlander. It is faster (61mph vs 69mph) and rides and handles better on rough trails. Ride and handling would definitely be better if the Grizzly was using trail tires and not a square set up, but in this case, the Outy wins.

    The Polaris and Can-am 570s are perfect for trail riding and the slightly larger displacement engines are powerful enough for the mud tires.

    • @dirttraxtv
      @dirttraxtv  4 роки тому +2

      570 is a good engine and decent power and super glad you're happy with it. Not sure you're going to convince an overwhelming majority that there's no need for an 800-1000cc engine though. Lots of us still like that extra power.

      So I kind of didn't finish my first comment as I got distracted and posted. The bigger engines come with bigger costs to the manufacturer. The cost may not always suit them even before passing it along to the customer.
      I think in the future we are going to see more and more manufacturers trimming the amount of engines being sold, and in it's place will be a variety of trim levels, like the Kodiak. I mean how many engines do you need to stuff into the same exact chassis?
      As far as big bore motors go, 850s are perfect.
