Nightwish really know how to open a show. An explosion of energy that hits you straight in the face and does not let up for minutes. They are all masters of their craft. So epic. Another great reaction. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Nightwish Army (Sydney, Australia Division) 🇦🇺 🤘
I wonder if we'll ever see them back down under? I saw them in Brisbane and it was crazy good...although I will miss Marco as it just seems wierd without his presence on the stage in the clips I've watched from the last year or so.
If you're away from Nightwish for a while, even a day or so, sometimes you forget, just a bit, how great they really are. Then, when you hear them again, you're just blown away, all over again. The music, the lyrics, the infectious enthusiasm of the entire band, just uplifts. So much to love about this song, but the highlight to me is the joyous duel between Emppu and Tuomas. Makes me smile and laugh in delight every time I see that. Thank you for that great reaction, Cosmic.
I don't think I've gone a day without Nightwish since I discovered them. For a while after I got my eardrum blown out it was touch and go, but I powered through. I could watch, right?
@craigbolton5093 True, I have a couple new Playlist with NW on them. One for live, one for the newest album. Pretty much playing something from them every day.
Shudder Before the Beautiful live at Wembley… one of the best concert openings I’ve ever seen. Ladies and gentleman…start your engines. The show has begun.😀🤘 What a “blow your mind” way to start a show!
This is how to open a show! It’s insane 🤘 I think you would appreciate Ayreon Twisted Coil (Electric Castle Live) Damian Wilson is immense in this. Keep up the great work 🥰
Just when I thought "Dark Chest of Wonders" at Wacken 2013 was the perfect show-opener, they come out with this one, which is arguably even better. You already like it, but you'll like it even more with repeated viewings! These guys sure do know how to open (and close) a show!
Their lyrics are just incredible.. the deep fascination for the universe, nature and our existance that Tuomas put into songs is the exact feeling that I had when I once looked into the night sky and decided to become an astrophysicist. Maybe that is one of the reasons Nightwish touches me that deep.. Can't wait till you listen to Shoemaker^^
I will never forget the night I saw Nightwish live! The excitement hearing Kai's first notes from show opener... I was little worried if I would miss Marko but didn't even remember him when they started 😁👍🏻 There are few songs that don't have live recordings but are still great songs. Like Edema Ruh. Also from Anette Turn Loose The Mermaids, The Crow, The Olw and The Dove and Escapist.
An awesome set, and album, opening song. The "Beautiful" refers to the beauty of the Earth itself, and all it has to offer. The song features their first guitar and keyboard duel in about 15 years at the time.
Nightwish Live are always amazing, you NEED to see them, I have seen them a couple of times, but last year was a special gig because it was just after Floor got the all clear from Cancer, and whilst obviously tiring she put heart and soul into every song, pure magic. Big Love
And THAT's how you start a concert! (Also an album, since it's the opener to my favourite ever album .) The Tuomas/Emppu duel always makes me smile, then you've got Floor and Marko killing it, Kai driving everything forward, the pyro, the orchestra...
The chorus is really catchy, especially the part when Floor sings 'we are shuddering before the beautiful' Perfect. Just Perfect. 🤘 Everything I would want a Nightwish song to be and more. Thank You 💙
Another explosive Opening from Nightwish 💥!!!! And that crowd just ROARS, when Floor walked on stage 🤘🤘🤘🤘. Shudder before the Beautiful is referring to the amazement and wonder we (The Travelers) should all feel regarding the natural world. It is all around us including the solar system and universe, which we are all a part of while traveling amongst the stars on this small spec of blue. I agree with you. The vocals should be slightly louder in the mix from this show. The bass is just a bit to loud with dampens the overall sound a little. This was from the Nightwish 2015 record, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful". many of the songs from this record revolve around a theme of wonder and appreciation for the natural world all around us. As you probably know from other comments, Nightwish members are very much nature lovers and ponder deeply about the universe, how it works, and our place within its grand workings. Thank You Cosmic for this reaction !!! NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
Not only are there a lot of songs, but there are two stellar vocalists that have done the same songs and you have to hear both versions. Also their live concerts are quality and the experience changes with the different concerts.
It makes me so happy you reacted to shudder. Everytime this song comes on while I'm driving around with teens. We sing and headbang. Of course drawing attention. We don't care. It's our song ❤️
One of my favourites!!! They have had some cracking show openers but I think this is the best one. Who else can give you music and a science lesson lol. You absolutely have to see them live. I saw them in Birmingham last Nov (Wembley further south) but next I'm making the effort to get to Wembley!! They aren't touring the next album BUT I think that is that is because 1) they all need a break and 2) 2026 will be a massive tour for the 30th Anniversary!! You should come over 😊
Nighwish knows how to start (and end) concerts very well. Floor has said in an interview that Tuomas makes the set lists. Tuomas does ask for others' opinions, but Floor said that the set list always looks so good that no one ever has anything to say about it... Nightwish was the first Finnish band to headline Wembley Arena. Sold out, 12500 fans around the world! (But they weren't the first Finnish band to perform at Wembley Arena because their support band was the Finnish Amorphis, so... 😄 )
That soft bridge around 5:40, Floors voice, the beautiful piano and that absolutely magnificent oboe/flute in the back. That is amongst the best few seconds of music ever written. Listen to it again and pay attention to the melody of the flute...it is so beautiful it almost makes me cry everytime....amazing
Just some expectation management - if you do get to see them in the US, they tend to play in smaller venues. Having seen them twice here, they don't have the pyrotechnics, but the music alone is worth 10X the ticket price. Don't miss them if you get the chance!
Hello Cosmic I've been following your channel for a while and always enjoy your candid reactions and comments, especially about my favorite metal band, Nightwish. You once said (or maybe wrote) that you may have missed a lot of good and interesting music in the past because you focused too much on one genre. Well I'm a 63 year old retired Police Commissioner from Germany and have always played drums and a bit of bass on the side as a hobby. I listened to a lot of blues and blues rock, but also hard rock and psychedelic rock. If you are still looking for exceptional voices and/or absolutely amazing guitar work, I would like to recommend Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart. Their joint projects, but also the work of each individual, are exceptional and, in their very own area, just as "dangerous" for the listener as the "rabbit hole" Nightwish (from which no one can save me - do I even want to be saved?). Like all good musicians, these two LIVE are even better in my opinion than in their studio recordings. As a start, I would like to recommend the closing number "I'd Rather Go Blind" from their exhausting concert in Amsterdam, which lasted almost two hours. Beth is already bathed in sweat and gets all the blues feeling out of herself again and Joe follows her singing with a three-minute guitar solo that still sends shivers down my spine when I hear it. ua-cam.com/video/UEHwO_UEp7A/v-deo.html More playing tips: Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart Official - "I'll Take Care of You" - Beacon Theater Live From New York ua-cam.com/video/nW3OrLHj0lQ/v-deo.html Joe Bonamassa Official - "Mountain Time" - Live From The Royal Albert Hall ua-cam.com/video/xiMqvPYPvQ0/v-deo.html Joe Bonamassa Official - "Going Down" - Live at the Greek Theater ua-cam.com/video/S79d6DZwPQQ/v-deo.html Joe Bonamassa Official - "Just Got Paid" - Tour de Force: Royal Albert Hall ua-cam.com/video/RLl800ezYVY/v-deo.html Joe Bonamassa Official - "Woke Up Dreaming" - Live From Royal Albert Hall ua-cam.com/video/HLoOnBbDeeQ/v-deo.html Joe Bonamassa Official - "Breaking Up Somebody's Home" - Live At The Greek Theater ua-cam.com/video/3DxaVOeudtU/v-deo.html and one of my favorites - small set (drums, bass and guitar) in a very small club - the fans are within reach! - Joe Bonamassa Official - "Happier Times" - Tour de Force: The Borderline ua-cam.com/video/0anePQIoEjA/v-deo.html This is just a very small part of the work of Joe and also Beth. Another fun Nightwish reaction. So much more to see! Anyway, getting ready to head over to Reisterstown for a nice family dinner (cousins are in from LA).
Yeah really nice to see Tuomas smile cos it seems so genuine. Imagine being this talented a songwriter and having a band like Nightwish to perform your work...he must be so proud ❤ I am so happy having discovered them and actually seen them live this summer 🙂
Hey man! I dont usually write comments but among the lots of reactors to nightwish I see yours among the best of all. I rediscovered nightwish after 15 or 16 years of being a lot like you and now i enjoy so much seeing sensible and knowledgeable people like you discovering them too. Keep it up!
Great reaction again, this time to another hell of a show opener. You are so right, this song just gets better and better as the song progresses. Loved it.

There's no denying that Tuomas is a true poet and a musical genius.
So true!
Can you imagine standing on that stage in front of thousands of fans, all there for you? Every single one of them Shuddering before the beautiful

Seeing Tuomas smile is like captured sunshine. Yes the dueling licks between him and Empuu was brilliant.

OHHH YEA! This was really good.
The mix of Floor & Marko is magic. The dichotomy in their vocal tones and both have amazing range. A match for the ages. IMHO.
So true!
Shudder Before the Beautiful live at Wembley… one of the best concert openings I’ve ever seen.
Ladies and gentleman…start your engines. The show has begun.😀🤘
What a “blow your mind” way to start a show!
We've seen NW four times now, and we are in this crowd.
Yes, you should see them live. They blow your mind.
We saw Tarja this year as well.
A fantastic show opener! Serious energy! Tuomas has told us the new Nightwish album will be "heavier"... dying to hear it!!
THAT is how you open a show! Nightwish could teach a masterclass in the art.
This is how to open a show! It’s insane 🤘
I think you would appreciate Ayreon Twisted Coil (Electric Castle Live) Damian Wilson is immense in this.

I saw them live for the 1st time last November in Amsterdam. It was EPIC 🤘🏻so yes you need to see them live when you can!!
i love that 'duel' of Tuomas and Emppu, sounds so great.

"Come to the Elfland the eldest said
