- Living In Austin - Today I am going to dissect exactly what has happened to make Austin drop down from the #1 city to live in in all of the US, to #40. Some are over it. Some still adore this magical city.
In my opinion, Austin, is still super awesome place to live and in this video I will be giving you all 4 reasons why Austin is still a fantastic city to call home. I will also give you the scoop on why I think it dropped down to #40 on Nationally Ranked List for places to live in the US.

This is a great video, thank you for being real
Thanks so much for the feedback and support!
I was thinking to move to Austin but I’m so glad you made this video.❤Well, I’m not good at heat… especially oven-hot 😮now I have the second thought 💭 Thank you!🙏
Definitely come over for a visit before you make up your mind though
I am moving to Austin literally next month haha it can't be that bad! Yes I'm coming from CA. I'd be willing to bet that the traffic and homelessness in Austin does not even come close to what it is in California. I've lived in Sacramento, Los Angeles, Orange County, the SF Bay Area, and its absolutely out of control everywhere. I am looking forward to living in a new city and state and can't wait to explore Austin!!
I love your videos and your energy! Keep up the great work !
I just moved from the Bay Area in June! I don’t find the traffic to be nearly as bad as CA but my commute to work is only 1 mile haha! It seems like the homeless has gotten better over the years and i mainly see them under bridges and such. It’s such a fun outdoorsy city and I’m excited to really get out and explore once this intense heat simmers down.
@@jnklein love to hear that! I'm currently in Monterey, CA so I've been enjoying prob the best weather in the nation during these summer months. I'm sure that heat is going to be a rude awakening but nothing I haven't experienced before living in Sacramento, Las Vegas, etc. I also work remote so I don't think traffic will bother me too much. Glad to hear you're enjoying Austin so far, especially coming from a fellow Californian :D
@@giovannib2255 yes, enjoy the cooler coastal weather while you have it haha! It’s humid here unlike Vegas but honestly the humidity is way worse in Houston or Florida so I haven’t been effected by it to badly. I hope your move goes smoothly. It’s always such a stressful process!
Hey Giovanni, Welcome to Austin! I am so glad to hear that you see the value and quality of life that Austin still offers. You're totally right about the homeless situation, it really doesn't compare. It's also been cleaned up a ton in Austin over the last two years.
Hope you settle in quickly and get to enjoy this fun town to the max!
Thanks so much for the support!
@@jnklein Agreed, the humidity here isn't nearly as bad as it is in Florida. I used to spend a lot of time in Florida during the summers and was always so angry when I got there because the humidity is SO uncomfortable. Hahah! I don't think people people really get used to the hot weather here, but there are so many other trade offs that make it worth the move.
Love my city, born and raised. It has major flaws (don't want to get into it) but I believe you about the people and culture. I've met some of the coolest people here and made the best memories. Don't see myself anywhere else.
I appreciate this feedback!
Like literally anywhere, Austin has its pros and cons. People very much love this city and we’re really lucky to be here 😊
I feel the exact same way 👍
I've been in the area for about a decade now, and there have definitely been changes. But I think there's also so much variety that you can make of it what you will. As of right now I still enjoy being here, and don't have any compelling reasons to leave!
On a completely unrelated note, have you ever played any city-builder games like Sim City of Cities: Skylines? I think it could be funny to use a game like that in a sketch, and say something like "Wait, this isn't Austin! Let's get back to reality!" Just a random thought...
Moved here on a whim in April 2020 when the pandemic hit. I was actually surprised about the homelessness and how bad it was even in North Austin where I moved to. I still think the area as a whole is one of the best places to live in the US. We're in the middle of the state and within driving distance of the other major Texas cities. There's a decent bit of everything here (i.e. it's not the #1 food city in America but you can find something here that hits your particular pallet) I think with remote work here to stay and return-to-office mandates failing, the migration will slow down a bit.
Hey there !
That feels like a really accurate assessment to me.
You’re right, the homeless camps got super bad for a large portion of the pandemic.
I also agree about the food scene, if you want the best quality and variety, I feel like Houston is the spot. 🙃🙃
It’ll be interesting to see how migration numbers are affected by #1- company lay offs and #2- people having to go back to their office.
Where did you move from? 😊😊
@@AustinTX from NYC
@@steezli oh dang, that’s a biiiig move. Huge difference!
I love NYC, we were there a few weeks ago and loved the weather haha 😂
@@michaelmclaughlin1958 oh no! Thanks for the heads up, we’ll make a note for the next one ☝🏼
explains the record breaking number of texas plates up here exploring western montana
Interesting, I had no idea! Why do you think Texans might be attracted to Montana? 😊😊
Abusable high me encanto 🥹 totalmente cierto
Which areas are safe affordable family friendly to live?? Does it get very cold there?? Do you have crocodiles problems, love bugs?? Scorpion??What are the properties taxes on a average?? Does it hail in all texas?? Flood?? Is more humid or dry? Is there tornados, hurricane?? How's the health insurance ??
🤷♂️ come visit.
Land value taxes better than prop tax.
But the prop taxes are keeping prices of houses reasonable else they go to millions like sf bay area and no one can afford it then except super wealthy.
No income tax makes sense wealth creation is not punished
Curbing land speculators is important
Great summary 🌟
I too love Austin's butt but coming from Chicago I had all these high hopes on austin although it is a nice little town I. Never heard of San Antonio too much, but the Alamo and and San Antonio actioh. My God actually turned out to be a more family orientatell.
Somewhat Of what I'm looking for me and my family, and actually has a lot more to do than just go to the water.
San Antonio as well as the only. Sing park directed handicap people in the world. San Antonio also is the only city that is connecting all the major works around the city and you could. Bike run Which you could use the trail to rent bikes or run. When I lived in Austin? The only thing that I could do on my day off is hit the river water. There is a lot more to do in San Antonio. Not to mechinned when family comes in from outer town. There's a lot more places to take family and friends.
Hey there,
San Antonio is awesome! Lots of culture, lots of history, and so much stuff to do. I'm a huge fan of San Antonio, glad you're there and thriving!
Cheers!
its so many fake people here so i gotta disagree about the friendly part
How so??
@@AustinTX the whole genuine doesnt exist here west coast people bringing all that fake vibes here acting like they care then flake
@@mattnorman5241 hmmm, sorry that’s been your experience. I think that’s bound to happen anywhere.
I feel like that happens less in Austin, but that’s just my experience and I can’t speak for anyone else I guess 🤷🏼♀️
I'm sorry you've run into fake people here. I've liver in the Austin area for awhile, and I've had the pleasure of meeting some extremely real people over the years. It's been a great place, and I'm glad to still be here.
