I lived in Charleston late fifties early sixties. So many wonderful memories. Everything looks like it did then, as if time had stood still, beautiful. Great photography, thank you so much!
Thank You for creating this Great Video of one of America's Most Charming and Picturesque City's. I truly think i could be Happy living there!!!! Fantastic Job once again!
As a passenger on this trip, it was a pleasure to sit back with my feet up to see what I miss as I am always behind the wheel. It was a wonderful feeling as I noted the streets, businesses and all 'we' passed. I was not thinking about Emanuel AME (at 18 minutes) when the driver turned onto Calhoun from Meeting. That caught me off guard as I was not in town when the shooting happened, however, I was glued to the television as soon as the news broke into programming. Thanks much for such a relaxing ride in a city I love! I will be back to 'ride' again!
It's so interesting how the palm trees in South Carolina are so unique in their own way. They look completely different from the palm trees in Florida. And the palm trees in Florida look completely different than the palm trees in California.
Notice the times of day he chooses to drive, that's why most places appear desolate. Not really wise to do a driving video during peak rush hours. Walking videos on the other hand, you can do when everything is crowded.
Looks like a quaint, nice old fashioned town. Never lived in the south but it somewhat reminds me of town I grew up in, but didn’t preserve it like Charleston did
thanks for the video I'm moving there in 7 months got some family over there leaving Texas and heading over there start a new chapter it's great to watch this video of the downtown area I miss it it's been years since I've been there
Does anybody know about a private swinger type discreet club called gibbs or gribbes on downton charleston sc? Someone told me about it. He actually went inside the club. It does not seem like it on the outside. There is a sign that says gibbs or gribbes. Any locals or cab drivers know about it?
kind of...but not really, at least compared to other american cities like Philly, Boston, Baltimore, or St. Louis. Those cities have actual large areas of "Olde World" style urban organization and architecture. In my opinion, Charleston looks a lot more colonial/southern plantation style than European.
@Adam LB for most of charleston's history it has had a black majority as it was a major slave port. if this video was made in the late 80s early 90s the demographics would have been reversed. as for the african accent i guess you are referring to the Gullah culture. its is still in existence and those people are there just not as prevalent as it once was sadly. these days you can barely find a native Charlestonian in the city
It's funny, I've always heard charleston compared to savannah, but I've been to savannah and judging from this video, charleston looks a lot less ghetto than savannah
Savannah unlike Charleston is NOT FAKE!!!! I hate the way people dress extra just to go downtown in this crap hole. Savannah and expecially Broughton Street rocks!!!
@@LeConteSkier sadly u are right. charleston is now one of the most gentrified cities in the country. you barely run into anyone with a native charleston accent anymore. all the Gullah people have been priced out of the city and its being overrun by Midwesterners who never seen a beach before and want to escape the cold
I am not from America... but is that literally the speed limit of driving on city roads? Because that looks pretty slow for me who lives in Singapore. Although, do tell me if the speed limit varies every city or state.
speed limit is different in every state so it depends, and in some cities in the state it is different than other cities but usually it is not that slow it is act ally faster
I work construction in the residential areas (some commercial buildings) everyday...it is quite nice til it rains for 5 min and all the streets get blocked off cuz of flooding...then the city SUCKS!!!
There's a WHOLE LOTTA sitting around and waiting for lights to change in your videos. Could you consider pausing the recording at red lights? i like your camera work and driving, but all the waiting on traffic lights lessens the enjoyment, for me.
I refer you to the facts as to how Charleston handled the Emanuel AME Church shooting. Run a search to read articles and view news reports. I say hello to those I do not know without considering anything that may cause others to discriminate. Noting this video was shot a few weeks after the shooting. The church is seen at 18 minutes... a moment my eyes filled with tears as one read my children stories at the library and it was my pleasure to know another as a manager a few years prior. Visit Charleston to get a feel for the area to make your own decision. #CharlestonStrong

We moved to Charleston in 1988. Charleston is wonderful!
W John No offense but late fifties-early sixties ?? How old were you back then ??
Gwen C. Live there from 90 to 95. I know it's a lot different. How do you see it now?

Pacific Bound well...that's because these are palmetto trees not palm. They're different
the palms in south carolina are called sabal palms and the palms u see in California are fan palms
The ones in Florida are a type of sabal palm but don't know what type
+J G similar tho
Pacific Bound and the palms in Hawaii are different too
As a resident of a winter country, I love summer videos.
One of the nicest cities in America.
It's brilliant that you manage to avoid being locked behind other drivers! Thanks for the view...very fun.
Glad you enjoyed it :)

I live in Charlotte NC now.... but I love Charleston......in my home state SC!
Very pretty city; lots of character, no interchangeable skyscrapers. Beautiful!
Nice videography of the Charleston Peninsula.
+socarboy Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate it :)

Que hermosa ciudad, una perla , viviría allí sin duda alguna

Each block has its own cicada! I like it.
wow, this city is rather underrated!
happinesstappy Travel + Leisure ranked it the number 1 and 2 cities in the world the last two years in a row
beautiful location no much high buildings ideal place sustainable
Looks about the same as it did back in 1961-63 when I was stationed at CAFB; except the vehicles are newer.
Nice Ton
I like your videos. I like this one and, believe it or not, I like the one from Pittsburgh, PA.
Thanks for letting me know! Glad you enjoy them :)
Great car tour. Would have enjoyed some commentary.

That's so subjective.
Parabéns pelo vídeo ...
i like carolina thanks for this movie
i want to move here after high school!
Do you remember what day of the week it was when you made this? Not a lot of traffic.

really its nice city but in witch side this place in charleston
This city looks like really europeans!!
The city has done a great job preserving the historic buildings - Thanks for sharing!
J Utah you're welcome !! Keep going like that !! When u will drive in Indianapolis downtown ??

They could replace alot of those old 1940's hanging stoplights......

Savannah is great for teenagers on st Patrick's day. If you would like to step in vomit or get robbed than Savannah Ga is a great choice.

Lovely Place. It would be a great place to live if it wasn't for Hurricane season.
Big fan of Charleston. Lots of history and natural beauty!
That is a great combination. Happy travels, friend. Keep em coming.
I mean there are tall buildings, it very looks like a uk city
HUH!
Falilou Diakhate, uk is so dirty from litter compared to here
David Carson ,It's more like a southern English coastal town rather than a general UK city
It doesn't look like a British city at all

Although, do tell me if the speed limit varies every city or state.
Speed limits do vary from state to state. But generally, speed limits are low within cities for safety reasons.

cute place
I shocked not to see any motorcycles.

Charleston is ok💓💓
Lots of flooded sidewalks and standing water in curbside gutters. Yep, definitely a Southern city.....

guy at 5:45 had to shit
Lived here 25 years ago. Looks almost the same
The whole town is heavily ordinanced and grandfathered historic district, of course it still looks the same......
the man at 5:47 was holding his shit I think !
ChuckTown!
The one and only!
I want to to live here
+Michael Morris it is quite racist here. Hopefully you are white which I believe you are by the name so yea...you may like it here!
