The music video in my opinion is about sexual assault in the Japanese school system. Very often teachers will sexually assault a student and blame it on their “bad behavior”. The dancing girls are meant to represent the “bad behavior” being a distraction to the problem at hand. Notice whenever you watch the video you mainly pay attention to the girls dancing while the problem is in the background
I feel like it's not mockery towards her rather it's towards the teacher, she doesn't directly touch/motion towards the girl it's more towards the man. I think they're the victims as well, I don't know directly what they're saying but the part where she's punching the other girl in the stomach kinda hints at the man abused them and they either grew up, killed themselves or he beat them into submission to the point where they were scared to leave him
@@gnat6450 ah no, actually it's not like that at all. it's about a love between teacher and student while the teacher knows it's wrong he still won't give up the girl, however the girl wants to give up. the song is talking about how the love like this is both wrong and right and how the girl is suffering from it, because she wants to make excuses such as being naive but in the end even she knows it's wrong so she keeps on blaming the teacher for clearly being the adult in the relationship. and it was made clear the teacher never forced himself on her other than not giving up on loving her.
Wrong! In Japan often female student victims are blamed and are told to stay quiet since it’s there own fault for getting gr**med since they were “misbehaving” so the girls dancing are showing that even do there misbehaving the teacher isn’t doing anything to them.
In all honesty I used to get so creeped out whenever I saw a movie with romance between student and teacher . They keep thinking they will fight for love and make bullshit up to justify their behaviour but it is wrong and more on the part of adult teacher.
Maybe I'm imagining things, but that gesture at 2:47 actually symbolizes "love" between a student and a teacher from my point of view. It's not pure and soft, but rather something perverted and sexualised, especially from the teacher's side.

Her attitude and presence in every song, and her contrasting 3 members, really differentiate themselves apart from all of these other bland idol groups. I don't understand a single thing, but I'm just here to watch that tomboy occupy ALL of the space.
My interpretation of Koi Geba: I think Koi Geba's initial message of the song is kinda.. mixed? Atarashii Gakko clearly implied in the lyrics that "you're a teacher, so why don't you teach me that what's wrong is wrong? I dont have an idea about what bad things are, I want to learn, I want to be a student". but then the song is like "Revolt" for love. it may be confusing but the music video might give a context In the middle of the video, after the teacher-student couple dated for a while secretly, the girl student tried to escape from him. The teacher, however, goes after her. In the end, it is shown that they're together again. Possibly, the girl's request of "teach me that this is wrong" was never granted, and she ended up falling for the teacher (Even if it is wrong). The lyrics implied that their relationship is all about flowers, fun, beauty, not showing the ugly and wrong parts of it. This is why the girl probably ended up thinking like "Revolt, revolt, Love! revolt!" because she thinks it their love is merely a taboo topic but it is not wrong, so she will fight for it (because no one taught her that it is wrong, when her teacher/the guy was supposed to). It seems like Suzuka keeps trying to warn the student, but seems like she's invisible. So in the end, she fell to the floor (She gave up trying/she's tired?) Could be wrong, but it's fun to think about it

In fact they are the students who were the teacher's previous victims who killed themselves in the end out of fear of the repercussions of the scandal. The people don't look at them becouse they are obsessive spirits trying to warn the teacher's next victim.

I love the theories about the girls being ghost, past victims, and others so i’d like to share mine. I feel as though instead of helping the girl get away, they’re terrorizing the teacher with guilt, they are his emotions. The girl with the glasses obviously being the guilt, the short haired girl is the emptiness he feels without her, the long haired girl is his love for the student, the girl in the ponytail is his lust. Seeing the girl with glasses and the long haired one punch each other is signaling to the guy he feels guilty knowing what he’s done, yet his “love” hits back, but not as hard. In one of the elevator scenes the lead places her hand on his shoulder, almost as if he has a secret; Their love is wrong. and they only appear in/when they have been to that place, leaving memories. and when she has her hands in a heart and likes them, its giving the impression of he “tainted” her or her heart. Very lovely video and song, I love it lots and really had fun with this theory
im surprised your comment doesn't have that many likes and replies since it seems like such an original and very good theory this types of comment should really get some more representations
i was thinking similarly! But i think the girl with long hair could be the lust since the glasses girl is punching the long hair girl around 3:05 ish and when the LHG punches back they all start dancing (symbolizing the love is back again even though the guilt almost "knocked them down") and the teacher hugs the girl (might just be me but that hug was a lust hug and not a loving hug, can't explain but it just is) also, the love in the relationship seems to be fading before the punch scene, especially bc GG licked the heart (symbolizing lust) and started freaking out (the guilt for the lust) edit: i just looked it up and the kanji on the blackboard means "supplementary lessons" (hoshuu)
A non-hypersexualized girls band... I really hope it grows in popularity. Not only the music sounds good, but it also shows that heck, you don't have to match what is supposedly the most sexually attractive to get on the scene. Tbh, watching hypersexualized bands could end up being sad... No matter if the music matches my tastes, I can't really enjoy it plenty while thinking that these people probably made decisions they would have wished to not take, only for popularity, and now they are stuck with that...
and how do you know there girl aren’t being forced to be a “ non-sexual girl band”. It goes both ways so do you actually care or do you just want things to fit in your own small minded narrative
@@synthesin bro that's so dumb lots of girl bands are forced to sexualize themselves for fame because unfortunately sex sells and not every person wants to be serialized and if they did I'm sure they can make that choice
@@synthesin Well I guess as an human being, when something gets too common, I kinda enjoy seeing that something different tries to make its own way as well, despite not matching the meta... At the end, I don't really want this to be like that, and that to be like this, I probably just enjoy "eating spinach after 1 week of spaghetti", and vice versa... But then, if I I know spinach were coming from an illegal slave industry, I'd think about that before feeding my need of change... Though as you say, I admit I didn't really think about what if they were forced as well to match that style, and I'll keep that in mind... I was more about "Great, they don't have to force themselves to act like someones who're 'perfect', which would quite probably not match what they truly are, and likely result into mental issues" But at the end, being forced to be "just what you normaly are" instead of an holy idol still sounds more acceptable to them... Well... in fact, popularity amplifies the fear to be hated, or even abandoned (well I guess, I never went viral lol), so maybe the artists could end up forcing themselves against their own will... That's another story then...

It's crazy to me that the more I learn about Japanese culture and what it's actually like to be a Japanese citizen, the more the art there sounds like a beautiful yet tragic cry for help.
It's not "Give up". The title of the song is 恋ゲバ (koigeba) Koi meaning love and Geba being shortened from the German word "Gewalt" meaning violence. (ゲバルと(Gebaruto)= Gewalt) So "Love Violence" would be the direct translation. Puts things a little into perspective I think.
geba in japanese means (political) violence and you are right about the etymology. I also found that Gebaruto is "violence", and was used in reference to Japanese leftist student activism of the 50s and 60s
Learning what I did about the artist who helped write this song and how they often like to do play on words with lyrics, I feel that “geba” /is/ being used that way here too, in that it sounds kinda like “give up.”
(I’m Japanese) i found out the lyrics writer is Temma Matsunaga from the Japanese band Urbangarde! My best favorite!! Temma Matsunaga is one of the best contemporary poet in Japan, and he writes poems and lyrics by all kinds of Japanese subculture reference, and it’s still beautifully rhymed and deep. Majority of Matsunaga’s work is about Japanese teenage girl (Shōjo 少女)’s sensitivity in her adolescence. He wrote several songs about Japanese school girl who’s in love with her teacher. I’ll write down my opinion on lyrics as Temma Matsunaga fan’s perspective: I’ve always thought the title Koi Geba (恋ゲバ) came from the word Zeni Geba (銭ゲバ) which means the person who’s obsessed with money. (Zeni Geba 銭ゲバ is coinage made by the Japanese subculture manga artist George Akiyama.) So I think Koi Geba means the person who’s obsessed with love. (Koi=恋, means love, romantic relationship, or Eros) As other comments explain, Geba ゲバ is short for German word Gewalt ゲバルト. It’s the word used for left winger’s protest movement in the 1960s Japan, which Japanese left wingers fought against injustice of authority in the university and the government. Matsunaga often use Japanese left wingers cultural reference on his music, so I’m sure he meant the revolt against/of love in this song. Matsunaga also likes to play words that sound like English, so I think he implied “give up this love” too. Matsunaga’s band Urbangarde has great lyrics and musical sense too, so check it out if anyone likes this song’s lyrics. Urbangarde and AG collaborated on the song Shojo Gannen (少女元年), too.
@@JustsomeSpaceG1 it is quite clearly about the taboo of a romantic relationship between a student and the teacher. They saying protest coz everytime girl is blamed and video girls asking em to revolt against this and this stuff and also as the Main comment tells you about the writer and stuff. One more thing you will notice now that when you watch video you just girls dancing and not the actual behind happening!! It's made like that coz people don't see real problem and its just really infront of us so why to just see stand against it or aware other girls abour it. That's what video and song wants to aware. And here they are not talking about taboo or teacher-student relationship is wrong or bad, instead they are clearly trying to potray the stuff that can happen or happening with other girls and this video is just making them aware about this. [Lot to tell tho but for now only this much xD]
Also, Maybe you know this that Teacher-Student relationship is forbidden in Japaneae school! Like a very strict rule so they are also taking students questions.. Like why??(students que) and telling them how the ship is actually and not like you see as a "Love" and trying to experience them about this all actual relationship from where they can be happy to when the girl really want to just get out of it but can't. I heard a theory about this specific song a while ago that the dancing girls were trying to warn the girl falling in love with the teacher. It was theorized that they were basically his former victims and had been manipulated by him, so they were desperately trying to protect her throughout the music vid. I really like this theory because it adds a whole other layer to the video and everything reads differently (ex: when the girl tries to pull away from the teacher and run but he chases her down, when lead singer appears more frantic in the elevator towards the end ). Altogether one of my favorite theories I’ve heard for a general song :)) edit: look at the replies!! user ifuckedurmom (lol) pretty much summed it up

I think Koi Geba's initial message of the song is kinda.. mixed? Atarashii Gakko clearly implied in the lyrics that "you're a teacher, so why don't you teach me that what's wrong is wrong? I dont have an idea about what bad things are, I want to learn, I want to be a student".
but then the song is like "Revolt" for love. it may be confusing but the music video might give a context
In the middle of the video, after the teacher-student couple dated for a while secretly, the girl student tried to escape from him. So in the end, she fell to the floor (She gave up trying/she's tired?)
Could be wrong, but it's fun to think about it
Great theory
The song and the video is an interesting take on grooming!
So he gaslighted her into believing their relationship is fine?
Thanks for this.

There's some kind of serious drama between a possible teacher & student. And the girls are just vibing there 🙄🤣🤣
What do you mean? They ARE the drama!
The thing is that, I tend to see that students getting into relationships with their teachers happens more often than you think. This might symbolize everyone turning a blind eye on p3dopheil4 and or normalize it, especially students. Idk tho, this band literally dances in every vid lolol
I'm pretty sure the message is that this is wrong (also the way they portray the couple kind of tells us that)
In fact they are the students who were the teacher's previous victims who killed themselves in the end out of fear of the repercussions of the scandal.

Im impressed!!!!!
That's a good theory
i was thinking similarly! But i think the girl with long hair could be the lust since the glasses girl is punching the long hair girl around 3:05 ish and when the LHG punches back they all start dancing (symbolizing the love is back again even though the guilt almost "knocked them down") and the teacher hugs the girl (might just be me but that hug was a lust hug and not a loving hug, can't explain but it just is)
also, the love in the relationship seems to be fading before the punch scene, especially bc GG licked the heart (symbolizing lust) and started freaking out (the guilt for the lust)
edit: i just looked it up and the kanji on the blackboard means "supplementary lessons" (hoshuu)

I was more about "Great, they don't have to force themselves to act like someones who're 'perfect', which would quite probably not match what they truly are, and likely result into mental issues"
But at the end, being forced to be "just what you normaly are" instead of an holy idol still sounds more acceptable to them...
Well... in fact, popularity amplifies the fear to be hated, or even abandoned (well I guess, I never went viral lol), so maybe the artists could end up forcing themselves against their own will... That's another story then...
@@Flower-gt2hw yea ik that but their are many women in the music industry that like to express their sex appeal like many males but the reaction is always different.
Thanks 𓅰
nah dude i'm pretty sure she is saying Gibber
So it mean “Domestic Abuse”
geba in japanese means (political) violence and you are right about the etymology.
I also found that Gebaruto is "violence", and was used in reference to Japanese leftist student activism of the 50s and 60s
Learning what I did about the artist who helped write this song and how they often like to do play on words with lyrics, I feel that “geba” /is/ being used that way here too, in that it sounds kinda like “give up.”

i found out the lyrics writer is Temma Matsunaga from the Japanese band Urbangarde!
I’ll write down my opinion on lyrics as Temma Matsunaga fan’s perspective:
I’ve always thought the title Koi Geba (恋ゲバ) came from the word Zeni Geba (銭ゲバ) which means the person who’s obsessed with money.
(Zeni Geba 銭ゲバ is coinage made by the Japanese subculture manga artist George Akiyama.)
So I think Koi Geba means the person who’s obsessed with love. (Koi=恋, means love, romantic relationship, or Eros)
As other comments explain, Geba ゲバ is short for German word Gewalt ゲバルト.
I noticed the "Geba=Give Up" too! And with your comment, it all becomes more clear and i get more informed! Really cool
What's the song about?
@@JustsomeSpaceG1 it is quite clearly about the taboo of a romantic relationship between a student and the teacher. No maybe you mistaken a bit,
Here there are trying to protect other schoolgirls or trying to spread awareness and messege about the relationship between a teacher and student.
Mainly about the Sexual Assualt happen with lot of girls so the song trying to aware them about this.
This song ans video also show how the dancing girls trying to protect girls and also saying to Give up on this relationship and also saying "Geba" to protest against this problem.
Also,
Maybe you know this that Teacher-Student relationship is forbidden in Japaneae school!
Like a very strict rule so they are also taking students questions.. Like why??(students que)
and telling them how the ship is actually and not like you see as a "Love" and trying to experience them about this all actual relationship from where they can be happy to when the girl really want to just get out of it but can't.
Lot to tell about this song but I will if you want~

This song is a Japanese reply to “the Police’s Don’t Stand so close to me” from the students point of view instead of the teachers…. Wow, good Job Ladies!
Altogether one of my favorite theories I’ve heard for a general song :))

with the theory of the girls being the teacher's past victims, the scene where Suzuka is pretending to hit Kannon in her tummy, i feel like thats a representation of Suzuka pretending to be the teacher and Kannon being one of the victims that was impregnated by him. He might have forced her to get an abortion or some way to get rid of the baby so that no one would find out and he wouldn't lose his job, bc its illegal yknow. She, however, hit Suzuka, maybe a representation of pushing the man away since she had already learned what's wrong is wrong and is now trying to warn the current victim with the other girls.

@@sebastianwilson-n2eno, is some sort of school representative thing
@@sebastianwilson-n2e the armbands are ment to represent a type of group or club like in school environments in Japan
1:13
Get up,Get up,Get up,Get up,Burning Love
↑真っ先にこれが思い浮かんだ。DESIREね。絶対リスペクトしてるよね。
売れて欲しい
腹パンされてる振り付け地味に好き
Rin's hair is so cute in this music video!
I’m not sure if anyone else noticed but at 3:30 in the back ground you can see the hotel sunreon witch is a adult hotel in shibuya, and the fact that the sensei and the student are outside it gives me the vibe that he is trying to take her in, or has already
Also at 3:01 I’m not sure if I’m right but you can see her mouth, what I believe to be, “ taskette “ Wich means “ help “, do by any means correct me if I’m wrong
Ok, anyone else getting really confused because you can hear little bits of Japanese that you know and then your just like “ wait what? “ it keeps happening 🤧
Idk why but i think that she said "sensei"
She could be saying so many different things it’s near impossible to find the correct one
@@jimmybobbyjoe take the context and it’ll narrow it down, also I’ve spent a good few years on lip reading, so I would hope I know what I’m talking about, lol, but you are correct, it was just a guess anyway, aha
THERE WAS THIS ONE COMMENT SAYING THAT EACH GIRLS REPRESENTED THE TEACHER'S FEELINGS AND I LOVE THEIR THEORY SO MUCH
I know!!! I love me some characters being given each a role
I love how Japanese songs can have dark and traumatizing meanings but you and I keep listening to them ignoring the lyrics after once
Because it slaps
Just look at Michael Jackson. He made songs about murder, abortion, defamation, blackmailing, child abuse, false accusations, etc. into worldwide hits.
I remember when only Japanese people did that
The 天才集団
1:48 best part just so beautiful yet brutal
their choreography always gives me the chills
3:07 i think Suzuka punching Kanon in the dance while the teacher and student are in the background shows that schools only pay attention to physical abuse/bad behaviour rather than sexual abuse. (as AG! in the MV are portrayed as distractions from the sexual abuse amongst the couple in the background)
The lady has an amazing voice, so strong and feminine. A wonderful singer, I wish her may you reach the starry skies of sucess.
涼花さんの情念がヒリヒリ伝わる 忘れられない作品…
0:53 when sh sings its just so good omg
i knowwww
この歌はこのボーカルさんにあってて素晴らしいね
2:18 Help me, I've fallen and can't get up.
Lmao
BAHAHAHhH
