Thanks Ronald. We have a slideshow on the soda kiln we built at Washington Street Studios that will be posted online over the coming weeks. We posted it once but the sound quality was really poor. Found a faulty wire in our mics and are re-recording. It was my first kiln build, Phil's 10th or 11th, and it was very informative!
These sessions are terrific, I have been watching in the morning during breakfast and after sometimes watching 2 or 3. Working my way through them all to catch up and I have been exposed to so many great pointers and information. Thanks again. Cheers and stay well...Freddie
Thank you for the great information. I'm planning to build a wood kiln and thinking to make heat exchanger in the chimney to preheat the incoming air. I hope to find way to utilize tons of energy which are thrown out through a chimney. I think to make the chimney from metal pipe build into bricks shell where air will be blowed from top to bottom forced by fan. Then the preheated air goes under the kiln into the firebox. The air flow can be regulated by fan speed and damper.
great video, I am considering getting into ceramics as a part time job, but I am only in the information gathering stage. My plan, tentatively, is to build a wood fired kiln into the side of a hill in my yard in order to make bricks, and household ceramics. I don't want to spend ANY money at all. (I live in the country and clay and wood are readily available.) What are my best options? Thanks!
Thank you. Every time I think I want to build a wood fired kiln I listen to this video again.
this is the best video I have found on kiln design. Great teacher.

I would love to see the design! Thank you for the encouragement and for sharing your plans.

Start with a lot of research! And see if you can find someone who has started down this path.
We spent money.
