"The GRE is not an intelligence test . . . it also doesn't test the kind of material that you'll be asked to study in graduate school . . . it doesn't even ask you to write the kinds of essays that you'll be asked to write in most graduate programs. In fact, it's not even very good at telling how well you'll do in graduate school." So not only is it useless, but it costs $200. Wonderful. Just what I'd expect from the U.S. education system.
Why should we need to take the GRE when we already graduated from an Undergraduate Program? When you consider grades/GPA from Undergraduate, it makes no sense to test on high school knowledge.
I've been a college professor for eight years and I've been dreaming about earning my PhD. This exam makes me feel like an idiot and I consider this exam to be a pointless and absurd waste of time. This test is completely immoral and should be stopped immediately.
This was really good...Im taking the GRE on the 28th of september and I needed a picture on how the test is measured, scored, and reported. Thanks so much for the video. Take care and be in good health.
UWContinuingEd, the speaker, and most test prep advisors, make the assumption that everyone preparing for the GRE was a good high school student. I wasn't and barely went to class. So I'm not refreshing old skills; I'm learning new ones. Any advice, besides work hard, for me? I'm a professional who doesn't have time to study Algebra and geometry textbooks in their entirety. Plus my test date is fast approaching.
Tried my first practice test today. I got a 158 on Verbal & 142 on Quant. :) I've got work to do, but I'll keep trying. I've got a few months left before I take the actual exam.
Did GRE change in 2014? How many practice tests can we take? Will they count? Oh well I may as well start now. I just graduated with two Associates Degrees and starting University in Aug. So my advisor stated it will take me 2 1/2 to 3 years to graduate because I lost most credits from Los Angeles when moved out of state. BUT at least I have a clue. Afterwards I need to go to Grad school.
This is a very informative video. Thank you so much for the upload. However, can anyone tell me whats the website she mentioned regarding the GRE practice test? Thank you
Thanks for your interest. You can find the practice test at (Princetonreview dotcom /grad/free-gre-practice-test. aspx) be sure to take out the spaces and fix the URL or the link won’t work.
The princeton review free practice test that the uploader posted releases a trojan horse virus when you register to take the free online practice test.
What is the point of taking these test if they have no metric on how one will do in a grad program, or if it isn't the same material that is covered in a grad program. This is a barrier to entry. That is all it is and nothing more.
Is getting my Masters worth it? It's not that I'm not smart enough to get my Masters; it's just a lack of interest in taking at least two more years of paying thousands of dollars to hear someone preach their political views more than teach, and controls my average, if I express different views. (which, in theory, is what college is intended to include.)
The presentation entails very useful tips and information but is not motivating at all. The presenter coiled herself in a way that made me feel fall asleep. Not a good one.

I got a 340 on the GRE but yes, the test has flaws. I give some general tips on my channel.

It offers some baseline to compare people by.... And makes people money. Why do you think it costs $230 freakin dollars.

I just wish she wouldn’t say “Ok?” after every 2 sentences.
The GRE is just a weist of money.
