I fully heard, "I can see it when another man can channel." Alvaro just delivers it in such a way that another and man are slammed together almost like a single word when he speeds up the delivery and pacing of the line there for effect. I think this is just a slight alteration for his Talent because honestly how useful is seeing Ta'veren if there's a handful a generation? I think this is Rafe foreshadowing and playing the long game to set things up so Logain is more useful later to help recruit for the Black Tower.
This is a near direct call back to the books when Logain mentions to someone he saw a ta’veren that glowed so brightly they would change the world. I LOVE this because we as readers know about talents but new viewers don’t. This ushers them into Logain’s perspective about it without having to explain too much.
Point of order: the books never say he can see taveren. He says he saw a man shine so brightly he knew that man would shake the world. And that's the last we heard of it. There was never confirmation it was about taveren just fan speculation.
Kritter thanks for this post I agree this actor is very good at his craft. I am looking forward to watching his character path thru the rest of the series.
I do wonder if maybe logain can see it as a Talent or if it's true to all men?- I love the actor and I do love book logain I think he can do it justice
He says - when another man can channel. Doesnt mean he cant see the same for woman. Thry should have made Rand 'radiate brighter than the sun" to logaine. Would explain his hysterical laugh.
I heard, “when another man can channel, there’s a glow”. Whether this is a Talent unique to Logain or not, idk, but iirc correctly in season 1 Moiraine (along with the other Aes Sedai we meet) did not seem able to immediately sense the ability to channel in Nynaeve or Egwene when met. For some reason she had an inkling that Egwene was near the time for her spark to manifest so she guided her through it by using the blue stone of her head chain like in EotW, but otherwise it was not made clear in the show that the ability is readily sensed among women. Me thinks they’re going for a subversion and switching it so men can see a glow and sense the ability in others while women cannot. I suppose we’ll learn more as season 2 progresses and especially when we meet some Seanchan up close and personal but who knows...? **Spoilers (maybe 🤷🏾♂️)** On another note, if I heard correctly during a pre-WGA/SAG/Aftra strike interview, Josha said Rand spends time in an [“insane”] asylum on his walkabout since the season 1 finale. I believe that this is where he is meeting Logain. Perhaps it’s in Cairhien or not, but I have a feeling it’s there that this scene takes place and maybe even it’s there that the Amyrlin Suian was visiting? Perhaps not on that last bit as Rand is wearing blue in this scene and black in the scene where he speaks to her, but it’s an idea none the less… 🤔
i didn't read the books but i enjoyed the first season, slow paced but perfect for starting chapter of a new series although i will probably begin to read the novels as soon as i finish season 2
I checked the alt text posted on the official Wheel of Time Twitter account. It says "when another man can channel". Logain has seen plenty of female channelers so he would have mentioned it if he saw the glow on both men and women. I love Alvaro Morte's acting in this scene. Do all male channelers have this ability or is this Logain's Talent? The only other case of male channelers seeing each other in S1 was Rand and Ishy; Rand might be too inexperienced to see the glow and Ishy had not reason to mention it. If they're reversing men and women's abilities for checking for channeling ability, recruiting for the Black Tower is a tad easier, especially if male learners who have never channeled also have the glow. Also, Logain has seen male channelers before and can even sense their strength.
I hope not, it will make spotting hidden forsaken too easy or obvious, especially before rand sets up the black tower. Like afterwards, it doesn't matter much, as we know most of them by then, and worries of infiltration in the black tower are much more important than a random person in an inn being one of the forsaken. If it is confirmed early that all male channelers can see each other, it is going to make most of the path to the aiel waste and the building tension with the merchant caravan useless. Though we don't even know if they're keeping asmodean, as they seem to want Logain training rand.
@FractalParadox there's no way they are making it that all male channelers can easily spot another man that can channel. This is just a more useful tweak to Logain's existing Talent in the books. I'm still not convinced they are replacing Amodean because he is needed to teach weaves and techniques like Traveling from the Age of Legends that Logain can't help with. I think this is just a means of introducing some lore about men and the One Power and to give Logain more of a role besides vanishing for books on end.
@DawsonCowals I mean, I wanna believe, but Ewgene healing Nynaeve after she burned herself out, with no training and like 8 books too early (and the fact that's Ewgene who does that and not Nynaeve) in episode 8 of s1 kind of puts a light 30‐ton damper on whatever hope I have for the correct and logic application of the One Power. I think they are just going to treat it as just all-powerful magic with a different name. And the teleporting t'angreal Moraine uses to meet with Siuan is a clear proof of that.
@@FractalParadox If all men have this ability, it would make sense if they can also mask their channeling ability like women can in the books. That way, Asmodean could still be a surprise.
Rand can’t see Logain glowing so maybe this is a Talent of Logain’s. Or something any male channeler can learn? Can Forsaken mask the glow, like masking the ability to channel from others? Can’t wait to learn more!❤
The first time Rand saw him in the TV show he was Gentled . Logain could tell Ta'veren in the books so if you go by that that was what he seen around Nyneave
I think they disappointed so much of their core audience that they will keep revealing stuff in the marketing until they either run out of stuff or the numbers get back to Season 1 hype
The show did great in its first season, or do you mean they disappointed their core audience between seasons? If that’s your argument, where are you getting that from? 😅
Wow... they just can't help themselves. He can see when another man can channel? So we are truly fully removing Robert Jordan from this show. Women can see a glow surround each other, but Male Channelers cannot. It's a fundamental handicap Jordan incorporates into his story. Men can barely feel when another man channels. Logain has the ability to see ta'veren not the glow of the male half of the true source. Rand's glow was so intense because he's the most powerful Ta'Veren that has ever lived. I disagree with this scene 100%. I very much like Alvaro :-) but these changes are really unnecessary. Mr. Jordan is probably rolling in his grave atm.
Update: The alt text says it’s “when another man can channel” so even though that’s not what I heard, I can accept that’s what he said 😅.

@@Ailthas That's true.
It would be interesting to see him recruiting for the Asha'man because of this
Love Logain in the books. So hyped to see him more in the show.
Me toooooo. I LOVE this casting choice for him too!
@KritterXD definitely not what I pictured when I read the books but this is spot on casting
Kritter thanks for this post I agree this actor is very good at his craft. I am looking forward to watching his character path thru the rest of the series.
I love all of it!!! The acting is incredible!!!
Agreed 🥰🥰
If they kept it so he sees ta'veren, then Mat would have caught his attention as well.
I'm wondering if this is just a Talent Logain has or if all men can see other men that can channel via a glow. 🤔
I listened like 5 times and I didn’t hear him say another man so I thinkkkkk he can just see “other” channelers, but I definitely could be wrong!
I do wonder if maybe logain can see it as a Talent or if it's true to all men?- I love the actor and I do love book logain I think he can do it justice

That’s not what I heard after listening a few times but that doesn’t mean I’m right.

Even more hyped, this looks really good
i didn't read the books but i enjoyed the first season, slow paced but perfect for starting chapter of a new series although i will probably begin to read the novels as soon as i finish season 2
Ahhh yay! I love that the show is bringing new people to the books!
Love this scene
I'm very excited to see more of Logain, I hope they don't turn him evil. But this is a great scene.
Maybe Selene told Rand that Logain was there? Maybe she's setting him up to teach Rand?
Oooh maybe!
Ooooh..."you need a teacher."
I like it better that he can see Channelers because him seeing ta'veren only pops up once

I doubt it, since Logain can’t actually channel. Plus we got an Asmodean statue so he’s bound to show up, right?!
