Even though I would have loved it if the figure came with more accessories like maybe a long laser effect. The detailing is outstanding. The colouring even is amazing 😍

If you repaint the armor, may I suggest trying contrast paint by games workshop, or Vallejo. That armor is prime material for it. (It's semi translucent, so would stain everything blue, but letting the silver drybrushing show through)
I was going to do my own silver dry brushing tbh
I am also planning to repaint mine. He has a really strong presence although the joints in the knees and feet aren't tight on mine, I can still get him to stand. Regardless of the QC issues, I'm still glad I got him.

Justin. Perhaps after some tweaking, would you be able to do a follow-up video of this figure when it has been modified into a more screen accurate representation of Darkseid?

It’s pretty good as a starter figure. It’s going to need someone to fix it to bring it up to it’s full potential. Paint and detailing the skin and coloring the armor correctly.
A side from that. This is a really good figure. Once someone does the work to fix the issue including the face and body being different colors. This is good going to great!
Fantastic video as always. I love the changes you made for 2023. Intro looks nice and this new color is white or light beige is a nice clean look. It’s like a studio look.
I comment on your sense of humor frequently. I think most of us appreciate the bad humor. I can’t see watching a video with out it. It’s so bad it’s good lol! It’s almost enough to bring someone over to the, …….wait for it………………….,Darkseid 😂!

Excellent review, as always Justin! Just want to chime in on the coloring issue/debate. In my opinion, the only representation of this Darkseid that is accurate, color wise, is the 1/4 WETA statue. They actually touched on the issue of which color to go with in one of their earlier videos going over their statue. In some scenes it's very grey, and in others there are hints of blue/purple. I think the McFarlane and Queen studios versions are way too saturated in their choices of blue/purple whereas WETA nailed it perfectly! This 108 figure is more in line with the colors of the 1/10 Iron Studios Darkseid, which is almost entirely gray. If I could get a 1/6 Darkseid that matched WETA's 1/4 one, I'd be thrilled! Check out a few reviews of that statue to see what I mean. I have one, myself, and it is breathtaking in how intricate the coloring of his armor actually is. Plus, WETA was the visual effects company Snyder used for his JL cut, so I think they'd naturally know which colors are most accurate.

I just watched some Darkseid scenes on UA-cam. The armor is black with some metallic.
You might have mixed up with the comic book look.
The movie itself was toned very cool so it might have originally be navy blue but the tone made it look pretty much black
Then why are all the other licensed pieces blue?
The comic and other works are blue.... but Recalf.Decaf is correct, I even pulled up photos from the movie... if there is a blue tone it is very faint. So to be movie accurate it is pretty much correct as it is. Remember he changed things all the time about the characters in the movies and did not stay totally true..... aka martian manhunter....
I'd paint the armor with Tamiya Clue Blue in order to not lose those washes and dry brush details

The dry brushing for the omega beams headsculpt doesn't bother me because I can chalk it up to the light from the fire but in general, it's pretty off-putting

I love it, but wish I knew how big it was in person. The damn thing is the size of my 1/4 NECA figs and doesn’t fit in the Detolfs with my 1/6 JL figs!

I found a rovanic studio version that’s more accurate to the movie plus the omega beam looks a lot better

My question is about a figure you reviewed about a year ago. But what body did you replace your wrestler spider man with? And how did you switch over the clothes, because it appears that all his clothing besides the sweater is glued on. Just wondering because I wanted to switch over to a better body. Also what body would you recommend?

I wouldn’t say cheap and hollow it has weight to it but it doesn’t feel statuesque either. If the only metric for quality is measured by touching it then maybe skip, not sure
Even though the Snyderverse has been officially axed, Darkseid was so freaking badass in the Snydercut that I've been dying for a Hot Toys 1/6 scale figure of him, I'm very irritated they never made one, and I'm sure they never will. Sideshow has some cool statues, but I'm not really a statue guy, and the best ones are WAY out of my price range anyway, almost $2,000 for them. I discovered this third party figure recently and was so stoked, but after watching your video here, at $330, it just isn't worth it imo, no matter how much I want Darkseid in my collection. 1/6 scale figure collecting is an expensive hobby, so I just won't spend that kind of money on anything but the best.
It's a decent figure, but for a Hot Toys price, I expect every single aspect of the figure to be on par with HT, and this figure just isn't, not even close. Max I'd pay for this, considering the small amount of different accessories and body parts, no display stand(come on, really?), lack of seamless joints(I just can't go back ever since HT started making them), questionable quality, and inconsistent paintwork, is half what they're charging for it.

I was hoping you put him next to Hot Toys Thanos. Darkseid should be taller than him so i wanted to see how he scales next to the bigger figures. Maybe you can do a update size comparison video
He is. I only do comparisons that make sense to the lineup. Iron Man against Batman is a no as likely nobody would display them together. If you are getting Darkseid you likely have the league, if you also have Thanos you know how they scale with him
@@JustinsCollection i respectly disagree. I am planning doing a master set putting DC and Marvel heroes on one side, all together fighting DC and Marvel villains. Darkseid and Thanos Would be the biggest atractions, they might be awesome side on side. (Heroes and Villains from movies and tv series)

Im so mixed on the figure. I LOVE Darkseid and would like a 1/6 scale rep for my displays. I love the head, and parts of this...but idk. I may just dump the cash into getting the Prime One Statue

Just started getting into figures (picked up my first ever hot toys last week!) so I have no idea about this - are 3rd party unlisenced figures legal? How do the companies get away with selling IP, actors' likenesses and whatnot?

Same here I’ve started about 6 months ago. 3 hot toys and about 6 3rd party toys. 3rd party toys are worth it.
it could look better, maybe I'll try to get it but there are some gaps that pretty bad and definitely it looks awful without the armor

I don't think he's worth the price point. The knee and ankle joints are not that strong for how top heavy he is. The plastic used to make him is like an oversized Marvel Legend figure. I also noticed, when I got mine, the paint application was off between the body and head. I think I'll take your suggestion about dry brushing, and maybe look into painting his armor. I was disappointed with this one, if I'm being honest.
