Hi, coder of Strangeland here and part of Wormwood Studios (the dev studio behind Strangeland), so nice to see this video!! The asset was never implemented, it was just an idea to implement it. The idea was that it'd be triggered by typing L,S,D, but it didn't get implemented because it required recording new lines and we were too close to release!
This is one of those times where scrolling UA-cam comments is actually rad as hell. I'd never heard of Strangeland before this video but I'm absolutely in love with it visually and I'm about to look into playing it for the first time right now!
Question, though: can't you guys just add it in with a patch? I know it'd seem kinda pointless to do at this point, but I just want to know if you don't do it because it'd be too much work or you just don't think it's worth for other reasons.
@@Dreadjaws Yeah, but there's reasons why it would never make it, that would take a long time to explain on a single comment. Let's say creative differences for now. That will do. The game is quite easy to patch even. Saves won't break no matter what.
I remember the original Mortal Kombat II having stuff like "Sal Divita Wins", implying that you could play as one of the motion capture actors, and "Tanya Wins", years before she was an actual character in the game. You could see that stuff alongside all the regular text in the game by loading the EXE file in a text editor.
the real joy is that mortal kombat also has a rich storied history of having real, functional stupid bullshit in the games as well. you literally have no idea until you play the games extensively and/or datamine the game. ermac is a special example in that he *was* bullshit and then got *made real* 2 games later
I love this channel so much. It holds that old youtube almost scrappy and authentic style to it, but always has fresh and new easter egg entries instead or recycling them every single top 10.
@@drabulusdael9329 it's a Japanese game, called "Shiiman" in japan, so basically it was seaman there too. I don't think they knew of the other word in the first place.
Oddheader is the best at actually showing video clips directly relevant to what he’s talking about in video games. I’ve seen other channels do similar things, but they always have to use so much filler because they don’t put the actual time in to do it properly.
OddHeader just uses clips recorded by other people. He literally puts in the least amount of time possible. He says like 3-4 sentences over footage recorded by someone else. He doesn't test the eggs himself, he doesn't do any research, his Discord & Subreddit do 100% of the legwork, then he hits record & says what amounts to a small Wikipedia article. An OddHeader video could be finalized in less than 2 hours, I guarantee it.
The “Floyd counter” in the files is definitely a callback to “Shawn attacks” and “kano transformations” which were other red herrings included on the audit screens in the early games’ arcade versions
@quinnwilson2215 yeah, but Rain also turned out to be real, and he's a similar reference. Ermac, Rain, and Tanya all started out as red herrings but became real characters later, so there's a chance the same will happen with Floyd
6:52 DEMVRS Yeah, I got nothing either. It is interesting that the enemies could pull that kind of thing off, so perhaps there's more to do with the letters
13:15 just want to clarify, Magnus didn't accuse Hans of using a Vibrator. That was a joke made by some random twitch chatter in Chessbrah's stream, that somehow got picked up by the mainstream media.
To clarify further, Piers Morgan is a clown and you should probably assume anything he believes is at best questionable. He's made an entire career out of making up lies about famous people who are more interesting and talented than him. Some people might think there's more to this story when you credit the "mainstream media" with it, when really it was one famously untrustworthy dude from the tabloids. If some random guy had said it, I'd be more inclined to believe it, but the source it's less trustworthy than something you'd read on the back of a public toilet door.
Yeah, its funny and memey but its actually crazy that that became one of the most well-known chess "stories" of all time and it was literally just a casual joke someone made.
wasn't it also a reference to the cheater that had vibration nodes in his shoes to tell him the optimal moves by a bystander using a chess computer and watching them?
5:47 I think that one about accidentally leaving the camera rig on was just a joke. I imagine the rig was probably very bulky and unlikely to be forgotten about.

for the first one wouldn't the answers to trigger it be somewhere in the files? How would the game know what keywords are needed to trigger the easter egg if they aren't somewhere in the files?
The 'small element' in elden ring that miyazaki hinted could very well have been a wooden shield at the start of the game that had markings similar to a knight in the DLC that appeared not too long ago.

Funfact regarding the Cow Level: There are also Kind of similar Things in two other Games. In The Bards Tale, you can summon a extremely dangerous Cow Boss if you defeat a certain Amount of Cows (also works with Chickens) and in Fallout 1 there's a random Encounter where you run into a Herd of Brahmin and if you wait long enough, instead of moo some will say ,,Moo, I say"🙃🐄
I love watching this channel with my adult son (who has autism). We usually watch together after his feeding time (he hates the tube no matter what gauge I try so he gets cranky) and right before I drop him off for his shift at Taco Bell. This always calms him down.
I remember finding the gloams for this D2 one many years ago before the xpac came out but passing it off as a bug since they were inexplicably non-hostile, and I think a lot of other people who came across them did as well. Most people who came across this specific spawn probably didn't even see their behavior since it becomes very ingrained in you to start blasting the second anything even remotely resembling a gloam/soul comes on screen and not stopping until they are dead. It's not a big surprise that this was never identified as an intentional easter egg then.
Thanks for making the first entry in the list the thumbnail. I clicked ONLY for seaman but I’ll stick around till the end. Thank you for your kindness. I owe you my life.
that cod developer was probably right about these proposal easter eggs being cursed lol. i think it has the potential to say a lot about the dynamic of the relationship before the breakup, like the infamous spiderman easter egg for example: after it had gone viral and the girlfriend rejected the proposal, she revealed that she didn't even play video games. for this kind of easter egg to actually work and be sweet and thoughtful, your partner actually has to have a love for video games. otherwise it kind of falls flat and only comes off as you wanting a cool easter egg in a game you like over wanting to do a special proposal for your partner.
...Mortal Kombat also has a history of putting in false and dummy character info to fool dataminers. MK11 had references to Ash Williams including fake intro dialog. This Pink Floyd reference is likely just that: a MISDIRECT

You must not know your boss very well then, because Victor Pflug/Mords says on the commentary *within the game itself* that he didn't create Strangeland. He did the art, which is great, but don't act like he created the whole game.
@@GorBlimey72 There's no need to be rude - I never said I was the sole creator of Strangeland so there's obviously a language barrier and/or misunderstanding here.
Just like the misunderstanding where I obviously was told this easter egg would be implemented in game by our coder.
Would be happy to clear it ALL up publicly though, if the misunderstandings persists :)
@@hibernaculum Uhhh ok dude??? I know you didn't say you were. That's what I just said to this guy. He's putting words in your mouth and claiming he works for "the creator of Strangeland" to make himself look important so I told him he was wrong. I dunno why you're getting in my face instead of telling him to stop lying about you for clout.
oddheader you need to review noita. The ENTIRE game is a huge secret. The game is literally unspoilable because of the next thing that the community needs to do, which is to solve the eye glyphs
The joy I gain from the frequency of oddheader uploads these days is unmatched
What I like about oddheader is that the discoveries and mysteries are always fresh. I see a lot of other channels that just recycle popular ones, but every time oddheader uploads I know I'll see something new. Respect 🤟
BABE WAKE UP! A NEW ODDHEADER VIDEO!!!!!!
FINALLY
Bro is like “I hope this comment will make people notice me again. So I’ll try it again.”
WOOOOO FUCKING LOVE ODDHEADER
HOLD ME BABE
Love the babe comments😂😂 these mfs have everything exept a bae😂
me: being bored on youtube oddheader: here is a new video for you my child
diablo 2? DEMVRS , sounds like the first letters of a runeword to me , Dol - (El/ Eth /Eld) - Mal - Vex - Ral - (Sol / Sur /Shael ) . 6 socket word.
Could also potentially be the initials of devs who worked on enemy programming
@@ShadowEclipse777 who knows. could be both. the magic find boost dosent show, maybe there is a blank slate runeword for a dev weapon as well
@@lokitakahashi3042 As someone who used to hang out discussing D2 modding on Phrozen's site....... Runewords are super easy to data mine. If it was meant as a hint at a runeword we'd be able to see the Runeword in the files.
@Oddheader Also... the "dance" as it's called.... has a bunch of randomness to it that did actually get noticed years ago. The Magic Find bit might actually be the entire point to it. Do the ritual, then go murder a boss for lootz. Not having the stat display right is possibly indicative that the D2R team didn't know it existed. Yeah, D2:R... is mostly a graphics and game engine update, but the core game logic is still the same D2. It's such a faithful remake it even copies certain BUGS from the original.
The letters are dev names! And it also adds "infinite" magic find! MrLlama as a video on it :)
by @CouldBeBaked
This is an old easter egg known for 20 years, just not talked about much. And yes it spells letters of the developers.
I miss Seaman, it was the game that was my favorite dreamcast game and the game that made my parents sell my Dreamcast for a Playstation. They got tired of hearing me tell my friend 'Lets play with my Seaman' whenever they came over.
4:56 Holy shit, I almost forgot about that Magazine! I actually think I still have that issue lying around in a box somewhere. I absolutely loved the pixel art pencil puzzles in those things!
2:20 I've watched equalsthree videos in the early 2010's so I've already had a fish-frogman sing about doing my mother.
I admire the quality delivered by this content creator. Good research into the detail, always adding something new (it may sometimes take some time to find something new) and passionate about gaming in general.
Why does the seamen “song” sound like the instrumentals were taken from megaman NT warrior?!? Same soundbyte at 00:48 on the NT warrior intro
Youre the first person I've seen mention this!
@@wolfmiremcthorn9696 Idk why, I’m just an idiot online with some weird quirks… I may be wrong, but to me they sound alike…
@@Ariaofeffect megaman nt warrior was just niche I guess. Just happy to see someone actually caught it!
This is the first time I've ever seen anything related to sea man in YEARS dude
love this channel, is the only easter egg channel that survived all these years
3:49 Miyazaki has gone on record several times saying that he doesn't play his own games, because it would be too (emotionally) overwhelming
I just came back to watch this again to try and forget about the 13 minute sponsored ad he put out.
Imagine proposing to the woman you love in Call of Duty. Gamer moment.
Are you saying that she wouldn't be playing the game?
for the first one wouldn't the answers to trigger it be somewhere in the files? How would the game know what keywords are needed to trigger the easter egg if they aren't somewhere in the files?
You are right however the problem is the keywords are probably encrypted which makes this task extremely time consuming to reverse engineer.
@@MichaelPohoreski yeah I was assuming there would probably be more and that its not as simple as I think.
The 'small element' in elden ring that miyazaki hinted could very well have been a wooden shield at the start of the game that had markings similar to a knight in the DLC that appeared not too long ago.
Looks like the Easter Eggs are taking the toll on you brother.
13:13 This reads like a Kotaku article.
Wait, so Seaman is indeed semen in the end? Best plot twist in video game history folks
Was just hoping you’d post today and YOU DID
I genuinely love your lame dad-level puns. A new Odd video always brightens my day
Every time Leonard Nimoy comes up it always something weird
I wonder if the in-Game proposals are the gaming equivalent of getting your girlfriend's/boyfriend's name tattooed on you. Kinda crazy how that is yet another relationship curse.
Okay so that thumbnail violently ripped old memories from my childhood subconscious and I was not prepared
This is classic Oddheader. Awesome video
Just in time for my lunch break. Odd header never misses!
Your video uploads are the highlight of my month when it comes to UA-cam at least. THANK YOU FOR DOIN THE WORK AND PUTTING THIS STUFF TOGETHER AND BEING ALTOGETHER ENTERTAINING AND INVOLVED WITHIN UR OWN COMMUNITY U ROCK
Watching these videos always makes me wonder how many secrets were discovered by accident and the player who found them didn't even know they were a unfounded mystery
I still think about the unsolved Destiny Last Exit cypher you’ve previously mentioned. Has there been any update to that one?
I love how at 4:11 he puts Mrs. Odd as his gift. Very clever and sweet!
Black OPs 3 has still the impossible Easter Egg that was never been solved/found
Isn't there a Marriage Proposal Easter Egg in Black OPs 3, more specifically in the Zombies map Der Eisendrache?
I know it isn't a CoD game he's worked on but it stands to reason he'd be within the industry enough to hear about it, no? either way, great vid as always Mr. Head
EE is not related to Jesse Snyder, but it's very good that you reminded us about it 😍
That chess game is SO familiar! My dad got it for his computer, and I played that game a lot! I loved chess when I was a kid, and still do
It’s a good day when there’s a new Oddheader vid
Funfact regarding the Cow Level:
There are also Kind of similar Things in two other Games.
I've watched this six times already
love this channel and the commuinity that makes it possible. every video is a bangurr
purple rain. pink floyd. come on dude
4:57 Wow, I actually own that magazine. I don't remember where it is but it's in some box packed away.
AYO that fish was fuckin hilaris
My little oddhead is excited
I wonder how many times people actually have stumbled across some 'undiscovered' easter eggs just gone 'neat' and kept playing?
that cod developer was probably right about these proposal easter eggs being cursed lol. i think it has the potential to say a lot about the dynamic of the relationship before the breakup, like the infamous spiderman easter egg
for example: after it had gone viral and the girlfriend rejected the proposal, she revealed that she didn't even play video games.
for this kind of easter egg to actually work and be sweet and thoughtful, your partner actually has to have a love for video games. otherwise it kind of falls flat and only comes off as you wanting a cool easter egg in a game you like over wanting to do a special proposal for your partner.
BABE WAKE UP A NEW ODDHEADER TOP 8 HAS DROPPED
I literally hang in for these uploads, these videos are incredible, thanks again oddheader for your continued service in providing us entertainment ❤
I love how we are all waiting for twitter to be rescued and bought back from the dead
I don't know if you already covered this but Megaman 9 has an infamous easter egg that nobody has found yet, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist
I paused the video and came back... When was I looking at Prince Ruperts drops?.. Oh no it's just seaman.
3:30 aren't those what replaced the big fish monster from the old map?
2:04 This Game Was Ahead Of Its Tine
I was NOT expecting Diablo 2 and definitely wasn't expecting something I didn't know about diablo 2. This is why I love your videos
@divinedoodoo I agree Diablo 2 is such an interesting game.
...Mortal Kombat also has a history of putting in false and dummy character info to fool dataminers. MK11 had references to Ash Williams including fake intro dialog. This Pink Floyd reference is likely just that: a MISDIRECT
You oddy!! Thank you for the content fr. It’s enjoyable when I first watch, and the best background sounds for when I sleep or nap. Forever grateful for you 🤙
For anyone looking for the Beat of the Month episode where we interview Helava about Seaman, it's episode #77: Sweet Dreams - Dreamcast Interview Special! It can be found on most major podcast players. We've got a website, but when I try to link it my comments get deleted (although you can guess what it is...)
I was today years old when I realized Rain being purple is Purple Rain
Love the storytelling in your videos!
I wasn't prepared to see Nikita Mazepin's face on a fish today, but here we are
This is so much better than the ad.
Danke!
I had a real big smile seeing you had a new video. Thank you!!!
Everybody (normal) refusing to call Twitter "X" has gotta be one of my favorite things about the modern internet
Tru dat, Elon sucks
If you want to know about the letters in Diablo 2, I believe MrLlamaSC confirmed they are developer initials in a stream before. Would take a long time scrounging his content but wouldn't be too hard to just ask him while he's streaming.
Yesterday I was thinking about when a new video would come out! And today a new ODDHEADER video is out!
