BMW M2 Gets New Brakes - Akebono & Zimmermann (Review)

It's time for my BMW M2 to get new brakes, so I decided to get Akebono brake pads, and Zimmermann rotors for the M2. I'm going to explain why I picked these pads and rotors for my M2, and then after driving them, give my impression on Akebono's brake pads, and Zimmermann's rotors.
I'll cover some of the differences between the OEM BMW pads/rotors, and the Akebono & Zimmermann ones, so you can know what you can expect, and whether you should buy a set for your BMW M2 or not.
The video is split into 2 parts, with the first half of the video covering why I picked Akebono and Zimmermann, and the second half of the video is my full impression of the aftermarket parts, and essentially my review of these pads and rotors.

For those watching later on, the brakes are still great and I still have no complaints about them. The brake dust is much lower, and I don't seem to lose any stopping power when driving hard. You definitely need to push the brakes harder to get more stopping power compared to the OEM pads. Overall happy with them!

those imprints are normal for these brakes, nothing to worry about. Got them in Audi too

how are the new breaks holding up

So far great after maybe 1500 miles on them. Still no complaints and the brake dust is much less on the front compared to the rear that still has OEM pads. No issues with vibrations, fading, or anything.

I don’t have a BMW. Akebono is the only brake pad I will use. Akebono need no brake in period and that comes from Akebono. I have never embedded them and never had a problem.

That is true for the pads but the Zimmerman rotors do ask for a 300km break in period, so it was still needed in my case. But the Akebonos are great, I’ll definitely use them again.
