No Federal agency has the authority to pass laws and enforce them, only congress has that authority and they cannot give that authority to any agency as that is a violation of the opening clause to the Constitution "We the people..."

Has anyone suggested that the CDC has authority to enforce guidelines? My understanding is that all of the enforcement was coming from other government agencies, mostly at the state level, or from our benevolent corporate overlords.
I don't think anyone should be stopping anyone else from creating guidelines, but everyone should be free to ignore those guidelines and tell the "guider" to GFY.
@Epicword Yeah, I'm pretty sure the CDC hasn't arrested anyone. That's likely on the local police for enforcing some kind of state or local mandate. The CDC might have inspired it, but the actual problem is the other organizations taking the guidelines seriously and enforcing something. Fix those organizations so that the CDC being stupid is irrelevant.

CDC issued a No Sail Order which is not a general guideline on hand washing. USCG was made to enforce the No Sail Order illegally as CDC is not a commerce regulating body. Also, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity CEO’s are liberal democrats. It is my understanding that Carnival and NCL are the organizations who have been engaging in dialogue with DeSantis and the CDC while the RCCL group piddles around waiting to see what happens and then takes credit for the progress being made.

@@Ryan_Christopher only the legislative process can create law. The executive branch can impose fines, but the fines must be supported by law, and guidelines not enforceable. The federal government must have a legitimate legislative path and a budget for enforcement.
They did it with the opioid crisis. The guidelines CDC put out then walked back quietly, got made law in some Democratic states. They didn't have the authority but everyone took it as law and patients suffered.
