Dear Eirin! What a superb presentation of your trip! It was good to see you moving around. You sure got some good news! So hopefully you'll be back upright soon without as much pain. No bones in pressure sore is great. The exercises looked strong but good for your body. Sorry you didn't feel well.
A lot of prayers for your continued recovery so you can get stronger! Seems likes you are on the mend. This was awesome! I got to see Norway😊 Thanks for sharing!!! Be well soon ❤🙏🙏🙏🌹

You look and sound fantastic. So much more mobile then your usual videos. I am so happy you are doing well and your kind husband is taking such good care of you. God Bless you both and your mom. It looks so beautiful there. We are still freezing our butts off here in Massachusetts. The afternoons are beautiful but still frost on the windshields in the morning.

Eirin, I didn't know I would enjoy your hospital trip so much! You are such a brilliant young lady and you are able to explain everything so succintly. I am so very happy you have a lovely hospital facility with a hotel and the medical team seems really knowledgeable and supportive also. Sorry you felt so nauseous and unwell after the massage. It is wonderful you are hopeful and life is more balanced for you. It is also comforting that you have people like Steinar and your mom as support. You are all beautiful souls. 🥰I love you all. Cheering you on from California, USA.

Hi Eirin, Thank you so much for your update, so glad that it was mostly good news! I just wanted to ensure that you were aware of the drug called Pamidronate, my son used to have monthly infusions of it, and it helped greatly with his bone density. My beautiful son had severe cerebral palsy (spastic quadraplegia) and had bone density issues due to him not being able to weight bear. The pamidronate helped him so much. You are probably already aware of it, but I just wanted to make sure. Your endocrine specialist may be able to help, I believe there are even more options available now as well.
We lost my beautiful boy 7 years ago, but he lives on in my heart and spirit. Your positive attitude and empathy for others remind me of him a great deal. Thank you for sharing your lives with us, I always look forward to your updates, and am sending lots of love and positive thoughts from Australia xo

Wow. So interesting, so grateful to know more about you. I have such respect for the wonderful, calm way you deal with life in general. Beautiful scenery. Love your snacks. As an American, I am amazed at the waiting times for patients in European countries. So happy to see you getting what you need. Ferries can be a hard to handle. I've been known to get sea-sick lol. Stay well. Elizabeth from NYC.

Thank you for taking us along with you! I'm so glad this hospital visit gave you some real relief and hope. (And that hospital is like nothing I've seen here in the US!) Physical therapy really is no joke, right? Nearly 20 years ago, I had six months of PT after a car accident, and I still remember how tired I was after every session. Here's hoping it gets easier and that you have more and more good days. Stay well!

I do have a question though. Did you say standing exercises? I’m not sure what you mean by that. Even though you have your days where you get down, it seems like more of your days will be up!❤😊❤. I just about spit out my coffee when you said that about the wedgie!! That was hilarious!!😅😅. I can be raised in an upright position, using a bed or bench with tilt function. Using padded straps over the hips, knees and chest, so that I’m «locked» in that position 👍❤️😃 This is good for bones, circulation, digestion, muscles etc.

A hospital with a hotel sounds nice. The views are amazing from the journey there and from the hospital. I just had a colonoscopy and indoscopy. I have Crohns and Ulcerative Colitis. My doctor's office called and I have an appointment this coming week. I had a high fever for a couple of days. So something is going on. I hope your blood pressure stabilizes. I'm glad you are able to continue your standing exercises. And no colonoscopy was great news. The prep is awful. Norway is so beautiful. Is it like this most of the year?

You got sooo much good help and information to help you this is Fantastic!!! It would be wonderful to make a yearly trip if that is possible? They gave you quite a beat down too. I laughed hard when you said that, whoever said back rubs feel good, you want to find them and give them a wedgie😅😂😂. I do not think I would like them either and have never had one. It would seem to me I made the right decision two years ago when, my husband got me as a birthday gift of an hour long backrub🥴 I told him to use it Lol! I got dinner and show as my replacement 🎁

I was very sad to see you so miserable on Thursday (I hope you didn't have to miss any important sessions). But praise God for an uplifting trip overall! ❤

Omg I LOL’ed at the “whoever said massages are good I want to find them and give them a wedgie.” 😂😂😂😂 I so felt that one. I’ve had massage near my parts of my spine that are messed up and it’s truly Wwe body slam added with PT. I did pt for post op spine surgery and it would always make me come out looking exactly like you. Hot, red faced, nausea on the way home in the car and some days in tears. Turns out they had me in a therapy program that was a hit over my need level and so painful and stressful and rough. It was made more for people who need to go back to labor jobs and I had to do a little circuit training where I had to carry a bucket of bricks, get down oh my hands and knees to do some exercise I forget, then walk up a ladder and back down, do some upper body pulley weights and a few others and then a walk down their hall and I had to do multiple rounds of this with post op recovery pain and would get woozy and dizzy on the ladder so it was scary to me. The bricks though only a few were so painful and so on. I will never forget it. It was my first ever PT experience so I didn’t know how to speak up for myself nor say no. I was very naive and young minded at the time. I’ve since had a great physical therapist who has pushed me very gently with a lot of adjustments for pain and keeping my mind occupied during the tough parts. He was so great. I maybe going back to him to prepare and after a knee replacement I need and am working my way towards. (Yuck). So I’m with you oj giving them a wedgie. Whoever thinks a bucket of bricks and a ladder is good times is a demented sadist.
I did have some massage by my good PT that was helpful but I’ve had people try to give me massage around my c spine where I have some issues and felt like I may as well be in a street fight. People who want to be helpful and aren’t trained too will give it a go and I’m like noooooooooooooo!!!!
They don’t get it and are taken aback by my rejecting what they find as comfortable and relaxing lol.
Ok I’m only halfway thru but your video was not too bouncy in the car. Give yourself credit. I’ve seen more car bounce by fully healthy and capable people lol.
Oh also I could feel the water anxiety for you oh the ferry. Can’t blame you at all while being in a chair, on a boat and over water which is your traumatic life changing turn. I would be freaking right the heck out. You did good and smart not to go where it’s loud and over stimulating while just still even adjusting to sitting upright again. The pain with the noise makes me overloaded when my pain is too high also. People don’t understand why I like quiet and low stimulating settings in public. When you are already in pain and cannot control your environment as much it a recipe for panic or just general anxiety and for me I used to get moody and angry as an emotional response.
But yeah. Give ‘em a wedgie is the best answer to it all! 😂

What a lovely surprise to see your video during the long awaited trip. Eirin, I am so pleased it was a positive visit to the hospital, except Thursday where you were poorly. Good luck with next appointment with the endocrinologist (is that right?) regarding bone density. Hopefully you will be able to stand. You can stand?

Thank you, Eirin, I appreciate your response. When my friend had her horse riding accident in 1995, I believed there must be a way to repair such injuries, there must be, we’re the most intelligent species on this beautiful planet. I was due to visit my ex in San Francisco and thought there must be a specialist working on stem cell engineering. Soon after Christopher Reeve had his accident. He did so much good work in this field. I did my own research and contacted surgeons in ‘Frisco’. I wanted hope for my friend and her new community. We have made some really good progress in this field. One day it will come. Rest assured your videos are important Eirin, you are informing the world of your life. I wish you all the very best. I look forward to seeing you stand. ❤

Wow! Those hospitals are amazing..and the room for someone to stay with you. Here in the states we just have a chair in the room we have to sit up and sleep in. A lot of running back and forth home to shower and back again. It's wonderful there! Good luck with your appointment coming uo in May. My little one has an appointment with her cardiologist in May as well. Fingers crossed things go well for both ❤❤

We do have rehabs that are more comfortable for caregivers/spouses to sleep here in the US. And in specialty hospitals it’s better…plus we have Ronald McDonald houses that are excellent for family.

Hi Eirin, it was a very lovely vlog. Your country is beautiful, I'm from New Zealand so it reminds me of NZ lots of nature too, thank you for taking us into the 5days journey with you, day 2 looks tough, and the place you stay and your husband hotel it's nice, first question, what that all paid for by them ? Or did you had to pay for the hotel for your husband ? 2nd question is the mobility transport Van yours ? Or did you had to rent it? And I am so glad you recieved many answer on your health wise, and moving forward to better days, would be nice too if you can seats a lot more too. And can I just say, your husband if I could give him award I would. I wish I was a better person like him, he has a heart of gold, I watched the vlog how you meet him, I believe he was meant for you, and you to him. But can you ever travel overseas ? And since you can stretch your leg, will you be doing it more daily to keep that motion a bit ? I hope you can understand my question, thank you for being patience.

Thank you! ❤️ My stay is covered by the free universal healthcare system in Norway, and Uloba (where my husband is employed as one of my assistants) covers everything for him 👍 The car is technically «owned» by the Norwegian State, since they paid for it. I only had to pay a small fee and have to cover all the costs of using it; fuel, service and repairs, and insurance 👍 I can and have traveled overseas, yes 😃 I will make an effort to get more stretching and exercises 🥰

One more question? Might you explain a bit about your health care in your country? Here is Canada health care is covered but many purchase extra insurance to help out in areas like physio, massage, medicines, eye care, etc). We do have issues here with long wait lists for example a knee replacement wait up to 2 year wait. To see pain clinic up to 2-3 years. Now having said that…if you are in an emergency situation one would receive surgery immediately or at least quicker. My family Dr. Recently stated that my CRPS needed to be seen as urgent and so it only took a month. If it would not have been deemed urgent then the wait would have been 2-3 years. 😮

I’m happy you’re getting treatment faster! 🥰 We don’t have insurance for healthcare in Norway; only for debilitating accidents or death. While we do have wait lists, they’re rarely longer than 1 year - thankfully. Medicine is free if you have a chronic issue, unless it’s foreign, unapproved or experimental. If I’m in an emergency situation requiring surgery, they operate right then and there 👍 Our wait lists are sorted by urgency.

Your husband cracks me up, “that’s a bit grim, a cemetery” lol. Both of you are funny. Humor is one of the best coping mechanisms we have in life. I like following your journies, you seem like a cool person. It’s also neat as an American (I live in Chicago) seeing some of your beautiful country! Your English is also better than some Americans I know haha.
Eirin, I had a random thought(s). I don’t know it’s my ADHD or what, but as I was thinking about what it’s like to live with a spinal cord injury. Maybe you could do some talk on these issues, if you think they’re worthwhile topics at all…
With all the helpful little things and med technology, therapy we have for people with spinal cord injuries... 1) what is your feeling about this: what areas of this condition do you wish there’d be more help, research or treatments for?
    2) I am curious what things were like for people with spinal cord damage and paralysis in the past, like at different periods in history. I thought about it… and said same thing as your husband “hm, kind of a grim thought” haha.
But really, I’m into history and medical history is fascinating, yes sometimes it can be dark, but that’s how history can be. We are so lucky to live in the modern times we live in. I wonder how treatment evolved?
Question: if someone with your similar original injury was living ___ years ago, what would life be like?
I found a little paper on history. Parapiga was first described on a papyrus in Egypt in 3000BC
