I love that Almudron's entire moveset seems to be based on punishing you for relying on the wirebug and palamute too much. You're doing wirefall or swinging through the air? He just swats you out of the air. You're trying to ride away or wireslide? He smacks you with his tail punch from 60 feet away. You're trying to use the wirebug or palamute to get to his blind spot? He summons the mud walls and traps you. It's like he's actively telling you "Sit the fuck down".
One thing I love about him is that he feels like the anti-rise fight. Most monsters reward you for learning the new mechanics by providing you with advantages but not Almudron, he goes, "Back in my day, the hunters never had any of this stuff."
@@Pebble-f4ebecause they share the same skeleton i assume, that's how mh works, usually monsters that share classifications will share a lot of similarities
Fun fact: The ginormous mud ball Almudron takes from the terrain is actually a reference to a MH spin-off called Monster Hunter Explore. In that game, they introduced a new Elder called Nefu Garumudo (I think its localized name was something like Neff Galmud) who took out a huge crystal from the sand and attached it to its tail so it could upgrade most of its attacks. It's good to see how, Capcom despite shutting down Frontier, Online and even Explore, is still willing to borrow something from them!
God I miss the clutch claw for hammer. It was so amazing being able to clutch claw immediately after a charge attack, made the weapon flow so much better.
Invader monsters get themes too. Flagship, elder dragons, and invader monsters are the main ones to get themes, along with final bosses and really special monsters like Akantor and Ukanlos (which are not elder dragons but are giant monsters, not merely large ones) and Dah’ren/Jhen Mohran, to name a few. Basically, for the basic large monsters, it won’t get a theme unless it’s a flagship, invader, or elder.

There are no health bars for monsters in this game. Just like how real life works, you gotta observe the monster's behavior to tell if they are weak/tired. There's also icons on the map/monster icon to tell you if the monster is on its last legs.
