    @260rips Mark it's painful watching you use ancient massive IR illuminators. Get in touch so you can experience the Dark Engine BLADE. You won't notice it's on the rifle and you'll get the very most out of any NV system with it.

    That answers one of my biggest questions... is the new Alpex 4k in night mode? Judging by the x28 image quality I believe it's not 4k, its probably only 4k in day mode.

    • @260rips
      @260rips 5 місяців тому

      Yes it’s in night mode but on the higher mag (28x) it does pixilate a fair bit 🧐but then it’s only magnifying the pixels as it’s digital not optical 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @quadplay2591
      @quadplay2591 5 місяців тому

      Hey Mark, I just noticed something ... you may have had the scope in the Daytime Appature setting which reduces the light gathered. According to Ian's video over on Blackwood, the front lever should be turned download, the brief glance I saw in your video seems to show it in the Daytime mode... I could be totally wrong, but just wanted to mention it, just in case..

    • @260rips
      @260rips 5 місяців тому

      🧐 not sure, but I’m guessing if it’s in day mode it won’t pick up the ir?

    • @260rips
      @260rips 5 місяців тому

      The slider just adjusts the lens to let more light in so doesn’t really effect the image quality only brightness, the unit has an auto function to switch between day and night mode which I was using 👍

      Mark because you shoot over long distances and shorter distances with centre fire and air rifles, when you enter the data into your ballistic app and your using a 25 MOA mount as an example, how would you overcome this when measuring your scope height over rifle bore.

    Mark what’s your genuine honest thoughts in comparison to the apex to the latest pard ds35 that’s what I’m using and really happy with it but if there isn’t. Massive difference in picture quality probably not worth swapping.as the pards quality to the original alpex is a lot clearer

    No so good at longer range then, the 200 yard fox image wasnt the best

    • @260rips
      @260rips 5 місяців тому

      Past 200m you need to increase the magnification to shoot comfortably and like other nv scopes it does pixilate quite a bit!

      On this ground the grass is grazed short, ranges tend to be further and normally shooting up or down hill so the bipod does the job at the mo😉

    Nice work as usual 👍. I notice your using 243 quite a bit now and used to use 223 for night work. How would you rate them to each other?
    Im currently using 223 and thinking of adding 243 to the certificate in the future. Besides the possibility of deer, im guessing for fox, if pushing the range a bit while windy, the 243 would do better for drift if using heavier bullets? Also if doing longer range stuff during the day, im guessing superior, or would the benefit not be worth the cost of an extra gun do you reckon? Thanks
    * I've since decided a 6.5 would probably be the better addition as already using 233, more versatile an option for deer, especially if the lead ban goes ahead.

    • @260rips
      @260rips 5 місяців тому

      Yes the 243 is on loan from the channel sponsors and I’m rather enjoying using it! Yes it does pack a bit more punch and has the benefit of being deer legal!
      If it’s just for foxes and your not stretching out too far then the little 223 will still do well if you know the rifle, plus the ammo is a bit cheaper!

    • @stephenoshea1166
      @stephenoshea1166 5 місяців тому

      @@260rips Thanks, I won't rush anything, fatherst I've pushed the 223 so far is 200yd, and fox did need a follow up shot, to be fair, the shot was rushed as it was about to jump the boundary, every other one has dropped on the spot pretty much. In this video it proves with good shots the even the 243 can leave them run on a bit. I had a 243 once before but was daft and traded it back in after barely using it, (kids came along) now can't remember what the recoil was like etc. 223 is definitely a keeper I should hope and price of ammunition is definitely a consideration!

      I hope there is some step forward in image quality..maybe even a bigger object lense....I'm more interested in function than form.
