Interesting how the simple presence of the piano in the background gives it a different spin - In the original, you'd imagine that the narrator is gleefully plotting revenge on some random authority figure who humiliated and abused them. This version somehow adds more of a sad tint to the anger, like, maybe the person they're taking revenge on used to be someone they trusted before they betrayed the narrator, or there's just more emphasis on the self-destructive side of revenge.
I love both versions and both bands a lot. I think this is a great twist on a genuinely good song. She's paying homage to a legendary band and she's doing it beautifully.
I have the CD of a concert where she performed this, and before she starts playing, she says, "I'm not even going to announce it, you should know who this is."
Think about that for a moment: Would a studio version ever be able to capture the raw emotion of this live performance? The actual sadness, betrayal, and rage that Amy is experiencing in this beautifully captured moment? Granted, a studio version would be nice, but I feel like it would lack the very thing which makes this cover so good.
Amy Lee is Queen. She can make any song amazing! And if anyone who thinks KoRn did it better, that's fine. Everyone has their own opinion. Just stop spreading hate on Amy's version. You'll ruin it for the others. ❤️
I really don't see any hate. Amy Lee probably has one of the most, if not THE most renowned and admired voice in rock and metal among female vocalists, so to disrespect her would be to disrespect those genres completely. Literally, ask pretty much any hard rock or metal band who they think the best female vocalist in those genres is and they're going to say Amy Lee. So if anyone were to cover their songs, this would be their pick.
Nicely done, but the song is by Korn and performed by Evanescence. :-) Both versions have their strengths, I'd really like to hear this version performed by Evanescence recorded in a studio.
Fuck em mate, you only live once.. arrogant sons of a bitches, "oh I'm so cool, I'm this, I'm that".. I never pretended to be better then I am, wheres my award? haha, fuck em dude! You're better then them, my friend
Drake Johnson Thanks, you're a good person :), you know, you are the kind of person that makes me think that I can trust in people, thank you for your words!
Enoch Nox It warms my heart to know what I said reached out to you, just remember this is the ultimate rebel song.. Thoughless is a "FUCK YOU" to all those thoughtless bastards who made fun of you just cus they think it's funny, I've had friends ive known for years just to turn around and betray me, but just remember.. they;re the weak ones, not us.. I'm a nice person but niceness gets mistaken for weakness, but ur not alone and this song speaks to many of us, ur not alone and wen someone gives u shit tell them to fuck off!
Enoch Nox Those "friends" who made you feel useless, forget about them.. I feel you suffer the same problems I do, you try and see the best in everyone.. But you will find people who respect your kindness, hell I've set up heroin addicts in my house cus i feel sorry for them, just so he cud turn around and punch me in the nose, some people are beyond help so fuck them
Woohoo, a korn song. I haven't heard korn for awhile, but recognized the song right away. During 1:15-1:26, it doesn't sound as powerful as Korn, but it's still sounds really good. Great job with the video.
Actually prefer this to the Ken version. Her voice gives the song a completely different edge beyond the whole teenage angsy feel the Lorn version has.
People, she kind of had to swear considering the source material. That being said... why can I not help but picture the band of Korn listening to this and headbanging?
Korn and Evanescence are fine with another, Amy Lee sang "Freak on a leash" with them like Corey Taylor … What's the problem with this cover, even Jonathan thinks it's pretty good o.o So … What's wrong with the people?!
There's this magical little thing, you may not have heard of it, cause it seems that a lot of people haven't. It's this awesome thing called... AN OPINION. Your welcome :)
Sadly again I must say Amy is right...Nice way to tell about a sad reality, since lot of men still behave abusingly to women,... Fortunaltly not all, but the ones that abuse, morally or phisically , must be "mistreated" way back... Love Amy, first time I hear about this song..
This was actually pretty good. I loved this cover. I thought it was pleasant. But if you really like Evanescence, then you wouldn't have to leave a comment like that. If you didn't like it, don't post a comment here, because people don't give a damn.
It took me hearing her curse to realize that I've never heard her curse before. xD

+KendrixTermina Good take on it buddy, the power of the piano!
KendrixTermina ghost f
KendrixTermina ap
KendrixTermina Of
Agreed. Your first point: a guy going after "the man." Second: angry woman going after ex boyfriend now turned pink haired butch feminist!

Knowing that there won't be a stuido version to this cover makes me sad everytime i listen
it's about time....
Think about that for a moment:

I came looking for one as well :( heartbroken
I know it doesn’t compare to a legit studio version, but there are some great studio remixes on YT.
That piano in minor key along with the driving drum beat and guitar is badass
Perfeito,,e me dá uma paz,, não é estranho encontrar paz numa música assim
This version freakin ROCKS!! Amy nailed it!!! ;)

Positive. Jonathan sings this song amazingly and besides him and Amy; nobody can do it better. My opinion.
Both are amazing
They MUST DO an audio version! Ams voice is so perfect for that song, she created one of the best covers! Pure queen! 🔥👑❤️
Cool, I didn't know Evanescence did a KoRn Cover

This is definitely the best cover of thoughtless :)
OMG OMG OMG, I LOVE AMY-LEE SO MUCH! SHE IS SO AMAZING, WOW :D
Like this version better than the original, rather surprising that it actually works.
I agree that it works well, and I prefer the instrumental of this track but for me Johnathan's vocals make it so raw and effective.
Petronius Workshy "Johnathan's vocals make it so raw and effective." Which is why I'm surprised this version works so well.
ganondorfchampin you can't surf the Internet, because there are too many Links around
Caitlin Dunn Heh, I can crush Link beneath my fists!
this song is bad ass
XD
i happen to like both versions
Same
My voice is too sweet for this song, I STILL SING IT ANYWAY
Nicely done, but the song is by Korn and performed by Evanescence. :-)
Both versions have their strengths, I'd really like to hear this version performed by Evanescence recorded in a studio.
One of my favorite covers
Ahh Amy, you make this song so beautiful! I love Korn, but wow...magical.
We needed it then, we need this now. Welcome to 2020

I love this cover. She rocked it.
unas de las mejores canciones de este gran grupo
i love this song
this goes to my "friends" who make me feel like if i were useless, bitches.
Fuck em mate, you only live once.. arrogant sons of a bitches, "oh I'm so cool, I'm this, I'm that".. I never pretended to be better then I am, wheres my award? haha, fuck em dude! You're better then them, my friend
And can I just say, omfg her voice, this is an amazing cover and her voice really does hit you in the heart
Drake Johnson Thanks, you're a good person :), you know, you are the kind of person that makes me think that I can trust in people, thank you for your words!

This song gives me goosebumps (: in the good way :DD
Exelente cover
Mersi fain de video ! Ai facut o treaba foarte buna .
First Amy swear ;dd I LOVE EVANESCENCE !!!!!
This is beautiful
Better than the original in my opinion
+Rambo5750 Lol. Opinions can never be right or wrong because an opinion is not a fact.
***** Opinions are subjective so they can never right and wrong. A lot of people are too stupid to understand that.
***** Its hard to tell if your joking because all people do now is argue about who's opinions are right.
+Juan Aguirre JD's voice is much more powerful and emotional than this could ever be
I'm surprised there's no 4 year old "FUCK U THE ORIGNAL IS BETR THEN U SMEKY BUT FAC"
i can tell this is a very good song one of my favorite
fuckin awesome song man shame not much people knows should make this song worldwide
I love this song

I've never heard her curse! Wow. She does it surprisingly well for such a.... um... innocent-looking woman, I guess.
thanks to this cover. i remember it was Korn who made which trying to remember the name of this song
ohhhh how i wish they would record an album version of this cover. kicks so much ass
Actually prefer this to the Ken version. Her voice gives the song a completely different edge beyond the whole teenage angsy feel the Lorn version has.
*Korn!
Emma Jefferies wrong. Jonathan has much more emotion in Korns version.
Nice video
She can swear if she wants to and if you supported her you wouldn't care .. plus I think it just makes her even more badass .!
Awesome!
People, she kind of had to swear considering the source material. That being said... why can I not help but picture the band of Korn listening to this and headbanging?
I love Amy's version but I also love the original version with Korn
Evanescence did such a good take on this song.
To viciada 😍
YAASS
I love this song. I just wish I could find a version of her singing it that wasn't live, I hate hearing the fans cheering over her.
Thank you
How about we stop looking at this as a competition and say both artists did a good job performing this song? Hm? -_-
I love this cover, I personally think it's better than the original :)
0:37 anyone else thinks this sounds a little like Whole lotta rosie from ACDC
Such a slaughter of the original...
2019 😜👅👅👅
awesome, thank you
PREACH!
Korn and Evanescence are fine with another, Amy Lee sang "Freak on a leash" with them like Corey Taylor … What's the problem with this cover, even Jonathan thinks it's pretty good o.o So … What's wrong with the people?!
🔥
this vid is a bit sloppy but is good!!!Amy is just perfect!!!
Korn and Evanescence made a great duet with this music ;)
There's this magical little thing, you may not have heard of it, cause it seems that a lot of people haven't. It's this awesome thing called... AN OPINION. Your welcome :)
I would love to hear korn with Amy Lee singing a studio version version of this
U KNOW WHAT I LOVE HERE, WELL I ALWAY DID XD
and again I found the 96th good evanescence song! :D
I mean the 96th song to my phone, I have 95 song from earlyer and this song is the 96th song I'm oploaded to my phone :P
Relaxxxxx It's not her song. She was paid to do a cover for the band Korn in the album Anywhere But Home! :P
I believe she did a good job but I think korn's is better because its heavier.
Veins also they are the originators. I never knew this cover existed til today, and I was disappointed.
Agreed
Sadly again I must say Amy is right...Nice way to tell about a sad reality, since lot of men still behave abusingly to women,...
Fortunaltly not all, but the ones that abuse, morally or phisically , must be "mistreated" way back...
Love Amy, first time I hear about this song..
You do know its about getting bullied not men beating women, right?
It’s about the columbine shootings and the collateral damage bullying causes
xoxo thx love
This was actually pretty good, I still love the original more though.
First time I've ever heard Evanescence swear. O_O
In my opinion, this is absolutely better than Korn's version.
This was actually pretty good. I loved this cover. I thought it was pleasant. But if you really like Evanescence, then you wouldn't have to leave a comment like that. If you didn't like it, don't post a comment here, because people don't give a damn.
@gumaddict707 Thanks! =D
What about in Farther Away?
I love this cover so much and I also love the original
