This whole challenge broke my sanity a little I think. That being said, the hockey puck mouse is clearly the most superior gaming mouse ever created and I won't hear anything to the contrary For anyone interested in the full gameplay - ua-cam.com/video/RwhmTXikdSQ/v-deo.html (Members Only) Edit: there may be a couple random black flashes in the video, this appears to be a rendering issue. Big apologies for that one.
@@mgord9518 no, it just isn't "halo" like it used to be. Obviously, it can't. When Halo released the dorm would have LAN parties for days at a time. There is no way to get that feeling back. It broke so much ground it was almost a farming sim! I'm an old, crotchety 43 yo gamer. GET OFF MY LAWN!!! 😂
i put this on my powerbook G4, and i love it because its a nice recall on having to balance resolution and graphics fidelity. Also WOW that seller, he went above and beyond to make sure you could really play this game.
Josh, this is your harshest critic speaking. After studying your content for a while, I was convinced to switch to the iPhone 15 Pro Max since T-Mobile gave me a good deal. And it was actually thanks to your videos. You make such good detailed comparisons between old and new That I was able to get a big picture about what I want versus what I don’t want. You are an excellent video maker. Despite all the times that I could be a very harsh critic, I love your channel and you always do such a wonderful job, presenting old or new tech and great Dialogues behind them. So keep on going and I am going to continue watching your work. And thank you for all you do.
that power connector is very standard and extremely common, a very large amount of laptops use it, it's nicknamed "mickey mouse connector" for... obvious reasons but is actually called "IEC-320-C5"
You said Brutal Legendary after the marines started attacking you and that reminded me of the jack black game i havent thought about since it came out.
I have a virtual machine on UTM with Mac OS 9.2 to play "Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri," and it works perfectly, just as I played it 20 years ago. (In an Apple silicon)
Im sure halo was first ment to be being developed as a dreamcast game first before they stopped development on dreamcast and changed name to halo with future development
Halo was supposed to be a Macintosh exclusive, I was so hyped up about it. Then the trailer at Mac World expo 99 got so much hype that the game became a multi platform game: Mac, PC and PS2. Then Microsoft got greedy and bought Bungie and made it an Xbox exclusive. (although the game did release later on Mac, much later). I hated Microsoft for that because Bungie was making great games for Macintosh like Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth 2: Soulblighter and we would play Marathon 2 with friend on LAN at the time, Oni was a really cool game à la Ghost In The Shell. Now Bungie is just a shell of itself sadly... I really wish we could get a Myth sequel...
Oh yeah i tried that a while back but on a intel mac. even though i had the universal binary and the updates it just didnt want to work. it seemed to have to do something with the version of mac os that i was ruinning not really supporting x86 even though it was older than Catalina.
Lets be honest, if Halo stayed on Mac it would not have been a revolution unless American gamers were like "this is the greatest RTS ever made and it is better than StarCraft". Halo became Halo because Bungie was forced to use a gamepad. I think the port to Mac was the best outcome for this game. Now, HALF LIFE on Mac in 1999 oh boy now that would have been a revolution. Canceling it was imo worse than losing Halo for Mac and then getting a port later.
I played this game on my Mac growing up. Similar model to what you have there. I remember it playing much better and more smoothly! I wonder how much of the jank and lag might just be from the physical computer parts degrading with age. I think I may have used a better mouse though.
I wonder if it would've still become the 'Wanked To Death' cash cow that Microsoft made it, had Apple retained it. Itcertainly would've followed a different path, my god, halo 1 alone would be so vastly different, 2 & 3, well they owuld just be nothing like, although maybe similar, never say never when talking about such vast probabilities you know, but certainly 1 probably would've retained much of it's inception.
You can run it on a G3, but there’s a few caveats, first off you need to have the original 2003 PPC release because of a VRAM check that was added to the universal binary release that doesn’t exist in the original version (no iMac G3 has the required Vram officially) and in the Mac port, you can also hold down the p key to basically make it run even if the cpu isn’t powerful enough (except it will stop you in the later versions bc of that vram check that I mentioned) you’ll be met with a pretty bad mess of the VRAM struggling to upload textures but a glorious mess at that, the only person I’ve ever seen do it is Matt Casey and he did it on a 500 MHz model with 8 MB of VRAM, I have a 600 MHz model myself with 16 MB of VRAM that I will actually try to run halo on soon

How big are these apologies? And are they measured in gallons or mpg?
To think maybe in another universe, Halo was a world-wide phenomenon on Macs and would still be today
Halo is underrated nowadays. Shame Microsoft really fumbled the bag on this one
For real though
Halo is/was the greatest fps ever made. Microsoft ruined a legend.
@@nathangibson2114 Halo IS the best FPS ever made. Even Infinite is the best FPS on the market now.
@@nathangibson2114Is Infinite really that bad?

It wasn't the resolution that made it lag but you turned on vsync. That is a killer on older graphics cards.
This seller is fantastic and I hope he makes a lot of money on his copies of halo
FRRR imma check him out
Please try to run that game on your iMac G3, it has been done before but there is very little record of it on the internet
Man, I can’t believe Microsoft lost halo, it’s why Xbox exist to begin with. I also heard that Steve Jobs was Hella mad when the Mac lost halo.

MattKC made a similar video with the older Mac

Could totally watch you LP this but NOT on a Mac XD

Will this Play on a MacBook Pro 2012 10.13.6?
I recommend Marathon durandal
Why does it lag ? The specs for this machine should play this without any issues 😮
maybe if halo has stayed with apple gaming on a mac wouldn’t be so horrifying
I used to play it on my emac.
its realy cursed to see macsoft and microsoft studios on same disc
