I personally don’t care for Harry Porter but this book store is amazing.I am glad they charge 5 euro per entrance as all these tourists only go there for pictures.
OMG, you totally have to read a Harry Potter book. I've read the books before it was a "fad," it the first book as absolutely amazing. Don't watch the movies, read the novels. It's a magical trip!
Tom, AK Rowling the author of Harry Potter apparently spent much of her time there, when she was a teacher, in Porto and it is thought that, it may have been an inspiration behind her books. The history behind that book store is lengthy and very intresting. It was opened in 1881, & its architectural style is of Neo Manueline .That staircase is georgeous love the old cash resister from Ohio Its a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing
Hi Tom, Very interesting video. That bookshop does look somewhat familiar and it may have been included in one of the Harry Potter movies. Another part of those movies was set in the main hall, which was actually filmed here in Melbourne.
I gather the writer of HP never pay the book store back for stealing the architectural idea for her book. I am sure she could share a couple millions from her Billion.
@@dahliathereader2872 Hi, The place is full of visitors who paid to see the beautiful Livraria Lello in Porto. You can't see any books,you have to go on,you can't stop because of the crowd, so you can't enjoy the books.
@@rozinemuriel1413 That doesn’t mean you can’t buy a book. That just means you don’t have an opportunity to look at the titles to determine a purchase because of the crowds. You are physically allowed to buy books.
AWESOME! AND VERY BEAUTIFULLY SHOWED! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thank you so much for this appreciating insight! Really appreciated.

Dinheiro = Money
The Little Prince was French, that wasn’t German writing. Had to read it in high school French.
The writing he was filming was in English!
The ceilings and stair decoration are plaster that has been stained and trained to look like wood.

You can't buy any book there, i think they make their profit from the visitors.
Crazy, really.
Rozine Muriel why can’t you buy books there?
