Though there are many great pastrami restaurants around, this tour only covers pastrami spots that are within the city of LA, as stated in the video description, and not LA County as a whole. Sorry to disappoint with what was left out.

Belgian Fries are cooked in beef tallow, that's why they taste so good.
Every fast-food joint cooked their fries in beef tallow (pre 1990s) before they were pressured into using seed oil by health activist who didn't know better.

My friend and I stayed in downtown LA on 4th off Spring. We were in walking distance from one of the really great landmarks in downtown. Philippe’s the Original is across the street from Union Station. They have the original French Dip, and it’s available in several meats. I’m a sucker for their lamb dip.

There was no side menu. Just pastrami and pickles and peppers. Not greasy at all, they used to give chunks of meat, i had to put some on side. It was awesome.

After growing up in the San Gabriel Valley since 1970, I am biased for The World Famous Pastrami by The Original Hat on the corner of Garfield & Valley in Alhambra AND both Tops Burgers in Pasadena are also have amazing pastrami. Weather it's Tops on Walnut & Hill St or Tops on East Colorado, there both equally good.
BTW; not all Hat restaurants are created equal. The Hat in the city of Glendora and city of Rosemead are subpar compared to the Original Hat in Alhambra which never lets down, the pastrami meat is always soft and thin cut but packed on, the Au-Jus from the pastrami meat is damn amazing and why I always get my bun double dipped.

There was Jake Levins in Milwaukee... It would have license plates from Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan there because it was worth the stop ( kid watching the different state plates.. big fun).. in a terrible part of town, no less... It's long since declined..Does anyone maybe an ex-wisconsinite know if these pastrami and corned beef restaurants in La are up to that level??.. Jakes was incredible...

I think the best is Eastside Italian Deli Downtown L.A. Near Dodger's Stadium. The #7 - Roast Beef, pastrami and cheese sandwich, is the bomb. You will see all the city workers eating there during lunchtime. It's our go to deli for the past 27 years.

I tried the Pastrami from Farmer Boys and loved it, the meat had some crunch to it. When I tried it the next time, it wasn't the same. I think the first one was left on the broiler longer than usual.
