The end of this video hints at something that was just announced!! Sooooo.... Want to read wheel of time with me and some friends check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/y0ruqzdfgsc/v-deo.html
Words of radiance was my best book of 2022. I was scared too but it was so great and I just whipped right through it. The page count is terrifying but the contents are epic!
I want to read so many of these but I’m definitely intimidated by the chunk. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts (when you get to it) of upon a burning throne. I really want to get to the ember blade, I’m pretty sure book 2 comes out in February. I really enjoyed Dune! I hope you enjoy when you read. Great video, Cassidy🥰
Own both dune and fire and blood if you wanted to buddy read them. Ship of magic and soul keeper both scare me for size. Alera is a fast paced despite its size
I'm so intrigued by Upon a Burning Throne too! I've seen it recced by Stephanie Bookish and Tammie Tries to Read and they both said it was super epic, heavy political focus, and has great morally grey characters/family dynamics. But heads up that book 2 follows a different set of characters apparently, which is why I haven't picked up book 1 yet.
Part of the fun of reading big books is the dread that you feel before tackling them, hahaha. I can assure you that Of Darkness and Light, Words of Radiance and The Ember Blade all read super quickly though, they seem way more intimidating than they actually are! And if you want to know more about Upon A Burning Throne, I recommend checking out Sufficiently Advanced Lena's channel, she is a *huge* fan of that series. Very curious to see how you'll feel about Dune... let's just say that I'll happily stick to the adaptation, my reading experience was not a fun time 🤣 Loved this video, hope these will all be hits for you!! 🤩
After a Shadow of What Was Lost, I don't think the length of books scare me as much. It does suck when you're super busy and have less time to physically read but that's the only reason I would put one off anymore
sometimes size is scary for me and sometimes it isn't! but the chunk can defs be a reason I put something off due to not having the time! I love when ppl become less scared of size!
I have so many chunky books that I need to read. I really need to delve into some chonks. All Brandy Sandy... Wheel of Time and Malice are just a few I can think of off the top of my head. Definitely joining the Wheel Of Time-Along! I got to book 4 and haven't picked it up in 2 years. Need some motivation to start tackling it again. lol.
@@CoverswithCassidy Mmmm.... good question. Not sure. Lol. I might re-read, though I might also regret that decision. I think there's a lot I missed and don't remember, or didn't understand at the time, so a re-read might be a good idea.
I still need to get to Legacy of Ash, I'm not sure whether to try to audio or not though. It's certainly a lot easier to do a long book on audio though.
I love The Codex Alera series! My copy of Furies of Calderon is also a mass market paperback, but books 5 and 6 in hardcover are 386 and 465 pages respectively if that makes the series as a whole less scary.
I really enjoyed the Ember Blade and literally just got the ARC for The Shadow Casket, which is pretty much the same size (about 840 pages). I did the first book on audio though, and it was great. I definitely recommend the audio if that works for you.
If you're looking for a sci-fi Tchaikovsky, read Shards of Earth. It's more space-opera than hard sci-fi and really interesting. It does have its hard sci-fi jargon, but it's probably much more up your alley if you didn't like Children of Time. It's also not a chunky book, close but not too big.
For me I’m scared to read Upon A Burning Throne because I foolishly bought it in hardback and I prefer to read my chunky books in paperback. However, I don’t want to buy a whole new copy in case I don’t like it. So it’s like: do I deal with the hardback and just read it, or…
lol, and before you mentioned it, I decided to read Dune today, like finish it in one day for a readathon xD might need to return later to the comment to see if I managed it lol (I mean 2.5 times speed on the audiobook is only about 8 hours long, that is managable in a day! ) though at the point of commenting I still have 7 hours left
Jim Butchers books I feel are always huge, but I've personally always flown through them. So hopefully it will be the same for you! 😁🤞You need to get the book mark that says "I like big books and I can not lie!" Lol
Legacy of Ash/Steel/Light is severely underrated! Furies of Calderon was super average to me. I suppose I was also weirded out by the title since Calderon is a Spanish surname and means cauldron, and they still use it as a fantasy location...
I'm going to try to read Dune in January... Derek told me it was really dry, so that scares me because he reads predominantly historical fiction which by definition is dry.
Oh well, I used to LOVE big books but then couple years ago they started to scare me and every since I am trying to get back to them.. Probably my number one most scary book is The Labyrinth of Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - first it is over 800 pages long and second he is my favorite author and this is the last book I will ever read by him (as he died 3 years ago) so I just don't wanna... And I've been also putting off Ship of Magic of The Burning God as they are chonkers and also the end of series..... There are more of course but these three I really want to read soon but also don't, you know? 😅
Seeing what you like in books, I am pretty certain that you will hate Dune. hahaha. It will give you the full synopsis of the book from the start, but nothing else (some information you might never even get). But I am also kinda excited to see you read it. Just finished the third book and enjoyed it a lot.
I've been putting Of Darkness and Light of for months, I really want to read it before the thirs one comes out though! Also...why is you Dune edition so huge?? I'm glad mine was only 500-600 pages lol. I really enjoyed Dune, but let me just say if you don't vibe with the slow politics of the Greenbone Saga...hmm yeah 😬 Ugh, and had the first WOT on my shelves unread for way too long too 😭
I hated Upon a Burning Throne. Well not hate because there obviously was enough for me to pick up the second. And then I rolled my eyes for 100 pages and dnfed
🍑 Another fun and awesome video, Cassidy! And thanks to you and your new drinking game...I'm tipsy. 🍷😋 And you always look pretty - whether wearing rings or not! 🤗

Good to know !
The Ember Blade is my favorite book of the year so far. Can’t wait for The Shadow Casket!!!
I really need to read this
I need to reread it before the release next year, I think I read it 2 years ago now
I’m definitely rereading as well before it releases!
I definitely recommend reading Fire and Blood in audiobook format!! It was amazing and much easier to follow along with the physical copy 🙏🥰🤪
I actually just got the audio!
I want to read so many of these but I’m definitely intimidated by the chunk. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts (when you get to it) of upon a burning throne.

Oooh a dune buddy read would prob be good
The size of The Stormlight Archives books is why I got the UK paperbacks that were divided into 2 parts 😆
Those are so stiff tho I love a floppy oversized paperback. But I relate to this reasoning

Discovered some incredible cool fantasy books from this video . Thank you for all the recommendations
Glad you enjoyed!
I just added so many books to my list to check out lol! I love a chunky book
Woohoo!

I liked it well enough 3 Stars
Of darkness and light is so big!
IT IS 🥶
My thing is that I love chunky books but also want to fit as many books as possible into a month... the struggle

Hahaha I don't think this video accomplished what you wanted it to 😂😂 I feel like you're coming out of it more scared

Off topic, where did you get your necklace I love it 😍
My best guess is dynamite or garage or amazon 😂 I've had it for awhile though so I'm not sure. It is two necklaces as well.
Jessie Mae read the burnt empire series, I’m pretty sure it ended up being just a trilogy
Ooooh
I'm going to try to read Dune in January... Derek told me it was really dry, so that scares me because he reads predominantly historical fiction which by definition is dry.

It is like a smaller format of book. It's like a little bit bigger then mass market but not fully mass market so that's probably
Wheel of time along has been announced come join us ;)
Pick up the audiobook for Fire and Blood if you can! I listened to it and got through it relatively quickly
I do need to do this
I've never understood being scared of a book because it's big but it was an interesting video
I think it's more like they are scary cause they take so much time to read
Is it bad I read all but like 3 of these?
Hahah no! I love chunky books so I love it. But they can be intimidating 😂
I hated Upon a Burning Throne. Well not hate because there obviously was enough for me to pick up the second. And then I rolled my eyes for 100 pages and dnfed
Oooooh interesting. I hope we disagree 👀
I hope so too. I was so excited because after City of Brass I wanted all of the non Western fantasy.
@@CharlotteGys if you haven't you should try Rage Of Dragons! Also if you like YA and angst the sabaa tahir series is good too
Omg u need to get to Stormlight but u already know this 🤣
