Please make more of these, I love your picture's they're aesthetically pleasing to the eye but can't always identify why. You breaking the shots down was super cool seeing how you process these.
yesss
I feel that for every photographer we make this decisions in our sub conscious. It’s interesting to break it down to each step.
I think your tree picture with the two tones; the left side with the warm sunset and the right side with the cold colours is definitely one of the best pictures I’ve seen recently. Love it.
LOVED THIS A LOT! thanks for empowering people like me to "take photos the way you want to" . Photography forums can be ultimately toxic with a lot of "seasoned" photographers dictating how a picture "SHOULD" look like. This on the other hand makes you feel otherwise. thanks for sharing!!!
Really like the shot at 11:10, it looks like something out of the 70s with the sign outside and the chair covers but then you see that the cars are more modern looking. That's pretty interesting to me.
!!it is
That tree shot blew me away, the two temperatures present and being split by a tree. Amazing.
Dope selection of shots Willem. Love your work so it's nice to hear your thought process at the time ✌
Willem your videos are always inspirational - I enjoy listening to you talking about the whole process of your photography, keep going!
This definitely resonated in terms of being able to break the rules and do what makes sense to you when shooting. kudos to you for executing it flawlessly!
Exquisite images, Willem. Thank you for sharing - been in a huge creative rut this year and the processes highlighted in this video definitely goes a long way in getting those creative juices flowing as I prep for a 4am photo-mission tomorrow morning. Big ups for the effort you put into your craft. Thanks for another year of inspiration and wishing you the best for the new year that approaches. Regards all the way from Johannesburg, South Africa.
Thank you for sharing the sauce Willem! You are amazing and I can't wait for the book to drop so that I can add it to my collection!
Love this composition breakdown. Really looking forward to the book release! Thanks for all the great content!
This was sooo super interesting Willem, loved this. Especially hearing the breakdown of those Svalbard images!
your photos (and this video) are getting me back into photography... cheers mate
This was really insightful and I think it will make me feel more confident and free in picking my compositions.
love this video!! I think those tips are very useful and will help me in taking better pictures in the future :)) it’s also just super interesting to see what goes through your mind while taking these amazing photographs + I can’t wait to finally buy your book and see your work in print!
I really loved the way you shaded the elements in the photos by blocking them with color, and visually making it easy to understand everything you were describing. Some great editing!!! I learned a ton about your style, and I found all the tips amazing. ❤️❤️❤️
I love your work. You have such a keen eye for capturing a landscape's essence though the use of triadic color schemes.
The shot of the water tower through the jeep window is so so good, love the vibe of looking at the scene naturally.
I like to think of the rules such as the "thirds" as more of recommendations or starting points of composing, instead of strict rules. It can be very limiting to think everything has to follow the rules! And as you have shown you can create beautiful pieces while not following them. 💚
See I respect this point totally, and it’s what I say to my friends. But I’ve found that by sticking quite strictly to some limitations such as the rule of thirds I become more creative with my subjects. It’s almost like music and chord choices, some people produce so much more with 3 chords than those who use 100
I’ve never thought about using color as a form of composition. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏🏼
I love this! It's interesting to see the perspectives on how you shoot. Can't wait for on the sunny side of the street
Excellent video. So great to hear you talk about your process. And wonderful photos!
Really useful tips! Also glad we got an update on Sunny Side - I’ve been waiting for it to come out!
the way you light your talking shot is so good - balancing the key with the window light was genius and made a single-light setup so effective
willem verbeeck content is what i needed before going on a trip with my film camera next week!!
This was a great video. Love your photos, they have a nostalgic feel without looking dated.
im so excited to get my hands on this book when the time comes. Great vid as always!
Great tips! Love the sub framing on the car photo as well. Can't wait for your new book!
Great video and thank you for sharing your process!
Awesome techniques, I'll surely use this on my next shoots! Thanks a lot!
love these, its fun to just turn my brain off and shoot photos, but it's also fun to be intentional and try and really think about what I am/could be creating, love this video format!
Thank you for sharing!!! Happy new year!!! Very helpful this video👍👍👍
that's nice, i love the ambiance in these images, the depth of field is also important in the composition! wish you talked a bit more about that but perfect video!
Love it! Thank you for breaking it down.
So helpful! Thank you for this video 🙌
your photos are unreal, you're an inspiration, thank you
Happy New Year Dude! Keep up the inspiring work. 👊🏼
I absolutely love all of these shots
really interesting video Willem. i'd agree about not always needing to use the rule of thirds (even though i also enjoy framing my photos like that), definitely will explore new techniques that you've shared here. loved the sunset photo at outerbanks & the magical tree with sun beaming through, really beautiful. very keen for the book too!
I am learning a lot from you thank you so much willem !
Love it Willem, always an inspiration
Love the photo at 10:40 and how the bike shares the same colour as the sky but is cut off from that blue by the other colours in the frame, which really isolates it and makes it the main subject
So excited for your book!
Thank you so much for another awesome video!
can’t wait for the book !! will be buying it asap
3:17 I love that photo!!!! Damn near perfect IMHO
love this thank you
Thanks for this Willem, photos are looking unreal as usual :D
Love the contrast in space between the two at 7:20. ❤️
🥰
Awesome video, so useful to see this type of self-critique
7:27 "Yo, are you guys good?!"
Sabotaging his train of thought 😅
so helpful! loved the green room and mostly loved your cute cats !!!
Very nice walk through on composition, I very much enjoyed it.
A real inspiration, thanks for making this video Willem, it literally changed the way I will look at how I take pictures.
Just amazing shots and a amazing video keep it up man
One thing is for sure - I am getting the On the sunny side of the street once it's out. I've been following your channel for a quite a while and would love to hold and inspect some of those shots that appeared in those episodes. Cannot wait!
Can't wait for the book! Can't wait for my weekend gear:D
i'm audibly saying wow at each of your photos dude, i will definitley be purchasing you book, these shots are beautiful
I like this kind of content… talking about technical aspects to educate the viewers…. More content like this please
I loved the video and the photos. I feel like you shouldve mentioned sub framing. I loved the fact that the photo you took in the car had the window in it, and that in the last photo the trees perfectly curved around the cross. I think I just get distracted easily and love when its easier to focus on the subject. Either way I look forward to seeing you post more.
Amazing video! Thanks for inspiration!
Great video as always Willem!❤️❤️❤️❤️
this was an interesting and different point of view on composing photos. I haven't really seen anything like it before
such good stuff, thx Willem!
Thank you! Whoa, beautiful work you've highlighted from the coming book. I can't wait. (Looks like a WV designed and constructed piece of plywood furniture in the set, too). Hope you had a nice Christmas, and here's wishing you a Happy New Year!
Thank you very much Bob!
Good eye on the furniture :)
This is the video I've been waiting for since I found you in 2019. Let's gooooooo
Been waiting for this for a longgggg time
This was super helpful. Thanks Willem
Beautiful work (video included)!
I think that I’m drawn to Willem’s photos because he does such a good job of breaking the “rules”. In my opinion, the vast majority of people are not good enough photographers to break the “rules”, and should just use the rule of thirds or whatever rule you like and you’ll get a decent photo out of it. Willem is different because he has such a good photographic eye and can see these really cool compositions. Really fantastic video Willem!
Wow thanks for explaining some of your best photos where I couldn't figure out why I liked them. It was colour all along!
Omg the cats jumping up 😂 love the tree shot the most it’s so cool!
Havent watched it yet but can already tell this is a banger 🐐
Really enjoyed this one Willem!
More content like this please. Maybe break down some work of other photographers. Really interesting to know why some pictures and composition are so mesmerizing and eye catching. Thank you for this educational video.
really enjoyed this one!
Can’t wait for that book man. Bummed I missed your zines but I promise I’m not missing this!
You're photography is so beautiful I'm a fan subscribed.
Awesome!! Thanks!
5:00 is just awesome!
YOU TAKE GREAT PHOTOGRAPHS THANK YOU FOR THE TIPS
I see Willem in my recommendations and I already know I am going to have a nice day.
cool review, thank you
More of this! Very interesting
Thank you very much? It is very informative.
Those Svalbard photos are absolutely breathtaking!
Man, these photos are unbelievable amazing
Interesting analysis, and nice photos.
This is fantastic
Lovely video explaining something that often feels out of reach. Bravo
You are a so good photographer. 👏👏👏
Do you have any tips on night photos and making sure you capture those good lights and colors?
These are great examples
This is interesting to me because I just take photos without composition or using any kind of rules, I just learned how to use a film camera from Will and went off, maybe I'll start using it, more than anything I want to figure out how to control lighting more
You are very talented! Keep up the good work you’ve been doing & will make u very successful. See u in 10 yrs.
I need to get up to the OBX pretty soon. I am only a few hours away. Great photos.
11:58 This photo looks phenomenal ! I wish you would have explained how you metered for it.
great job
That center-framed tree shot is phenomenal 🤯
