This video just made my morning ✨I am back in my home of Wales after 8 years in NZ so your musings resonated with me and how I have been feeling. I am seeing Wales through more inquisitive eyes and so excited to hike trails here with a fresh perspective. My musings after a strong coffee haha!
Wow, it’s so nice to see this humble little hike getting its moment to shine. I hiked it four times as an outdoor ed trainee last year with year 9’s from the local secondary college and it blows their minds when they realise what’s tucked away in their backyard! Such an accessible trail for new adventures + those with additional needs.
Great vid! Really resonated with me as someone who grew up in NZ and then moved to Aus for 7 years. I remember a sense of loss and nostalgia when I moved, but over time I really came to appreciate the landscapes and wildlife of Aus. Now I love and miss both gorgeous countries :)
Great to see you back on the trail Hayley. I look forward to sharing in your next adventure. I’m surprised you didn’t realise that your encounter with the cryptic was of course the dreaded Drop Bear 🥴
Love It. Love it. I've walked this trail many times and it was great watching it through someone else's eyes. Beautiful videography and as always love the voice over.
Water did fall but not much of it in early December also. And yes the Hotsprings are quite nice, my favourite spot is that cave and the small dip spot, which is more than 6ft deep. Cape Schanck is nice and the rock pools take just enough effort most turn back and are always good for a dip.
Absence, nostalgia, growing fonder or more grateful, they are all what we need in order to not having a boring life! Thanks for another great video. I enjoyed watching it as much as if I did the hike!
6:01 Ah! Summertime. 😂 6:40 Being laughed at - even funnier! 😂😂 8:56 Road Walking Illusions - very relatable 😂 11:38 Oh the imagination 😅 12:36 OMG! The SleepJournal entires! 😂😂😂 19:35 Fully grown caterpillers! Looks like a ticker tape parade 😅 20:52 Found it! 😮😅 22:07 Love it! ❤
I've completed Cape Schanck to lightwood Creek multiple times. Such a lovely walk and a great getaway. Also, it has been the closest I've been to Wild Kangaroo (literally 2 meters away). Thank you for sharing and fantastic work, as always. I hope the hot springs were amazing.
I did hear a kangaroo outside my tent on the 2nd night, I wonder if it were the same one 🦘Cape Schanck was certainly a highlight! Haha I spent 10 hours at the hot springs the next day, it was just as great as it always is 😋
Hayley, yet another goodie! They just keep coming! So many insights into your psyche and quirky sense of humour. Loved it. To empathise......... isn't funny how the mind works when you're (well all of us) all alone in the bush or on trail. Glad you didn't edit some of the insights you've shared. LOVED your overnite observations from camp!! G
I do have the next 6 months of videos already planned out, assuming I can work fast enough to keep up! Haha my mind could not decide whether people were coming or going from the campsite! Being alone definitely makes you think about things you wouldn’t have if a friend was there! Thank you as always for your lovely comments 🙂
Lovely video, lovely hike, lovely views... just lovely! ☺ Always forget about this trail, so it's going on my list of hikes to do for 2025... there's also a brewery down there called Two Bays and they have a lovely pale ale... even more incentive to go! 🤣 Thanks for a top notch video as always Hayley 😎
Another joyful watch! You are the best story teller ☺️ sucks about the waterfall, I’ve done that too, when I went to a falls up in far North Queensland. I was so looking forward to see it pumping out water but it was in winter (north Qld’s dry season) and it only had a trickle. I was so disappointed! I have been meaning to ask for a long while, what brand tights do you wear for hiking? Mine all seem to ride up but yours look like a better length than mine which are shorter. Can’t find the perfect pair yet!
I’ve certainly given the NZ hikes more attention in the last few years, NZ is just a hiking magnet! 🧲 Ghost hikers: hike in groups, like to pitch their ghost tents 👻
These lense caps go missing too often! Fortunately, there was water at the campground during summer. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! They make the video.
Another great video Hayley. I really enjoy watching your hikes and you are motivating me to get moving my 69 year old Dad bod . Day hikes only to start with.🤣
i loved Exploring Philip island and Mornington Pennisula. We did a Day hike to see pulpit rock at Cape Schanck i loved the hike down, walked to lighthouse and down the boardwalk down saw a Echidna on the way down . parts of the boardwalk look a bit sketchy but all was well . glad i had my hikers on for the the last little bit to the water . there was a geocache down past where the boardwalk ended never did find it but i love the walk doen to see the pulpit rock i think the tall rock is calle According to google maps . we aso took the ferry from Queencliff . and the road down from Arthur's seat was quite fun . i could spend a week on Philip Island.
Hey, that's my backyard! Ok, not quite, but I both run and hike on Two Bays without any driving required. Another great video, very strange seeing it so close to home though! Keep up the good work! Next time there is also the Coastal Walk which continues from Cape Schanck through to London Bridge in Portsea, which is about 25k or so. Fun fact, the Two Bays Trail Run starts from Cape Schanck, runs to Dromana and back to Cape Schanck, with an astoundingly fast 4 hour 37 second record time. There's also the one way, 28k version when the trail running bug bites
Haha it’s a wonder you didn’t see yourself in the background of any footage! I had heard about the Two Bays Trail run when I was researching this hike, I did find it funny that I was just meandering my way along when people would just run it in a day. Nice to know about the Coastal Walk! Another excuse to go to the Hot Springs by the sounds of it. 😛
@@settohike I have run this for the last 7 years in January, but i have not walked it. When i was in primary school we did some hikes around the cape. Thanks for showing this at much slower pace than I'm used to, and seeing the bits that i never take time to soak up.
That was one of my missions to show off the hike in detail 🙂 I’m wearing the Xero Shoes: Scrambler Mid they are barefoot shoes but made for hiking. It was my first multiday with them. They are super comfy to wear but I need to wear them more so my legs don’t get such a surprise about the barefoot thing 😛
@ mission accomplished! This walk has been on my list to do but I hadn’t seen anyone showcase it. I was especially curious what Hyslops Rd would be like. Thanks for filling in the blanks for us! Ooh barefoot.. but too much in the minimal direction for me lol I wish your legs good luck 😆
So do we have all your NZ hikes yet, or are some still in production? I have an ever expending crew who join me for a biannual trip to NZ for a great walk "fix". I need to cap the numbers, or it will be soon be impossible to book on the DOC booking day free-for-all! Thanks for the reminder that the hot springs are nearby. That will make the two bays an easier sell to the kids ! Great content as always.
Haha I am jealous of your biannual trip crew! I still have 3 more NZ hikes to come, but i'm also doing a mini trip to NZ in March where i'll be filming 2 more hikes + 2 'other' videos. Oh yes the hot springs make an irresistible sales pitch! :D
Where did you get water at the campsite? I'm reluctant to use water captured from the toilet roof. The nearby creek did have a little water, which would definitely need filtering/treating. We carried in our water. Given that the nearest car access is about 1.5km, I carried in a water drop for another hike. That hike, there were 30 other tents at the campsite. Biggest thing I saw carried in was full sized swag with integrated matress. Think twice the volume of your pack.
I did get it from the tank and filtered it although funny you mention it because there was mosquito larvae in the water tank (the tiny wrigley worm things, I was horrified) and spent extra time getting rid of them before filtering so I didn’t have them stuck in my filter) 🤣 A full on swag is a pretty impressive carry in if there is a will there is a way!
@@settohikeyeh. The water from that tank isn’t the nicest drop in the world. It’s better through a Grayl, but it clogs that up super quickly. Next time I think I’ll take my Sawyer and Grayl and put it through both in that order.
"maybe absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder, it teaches it to grow more grateful" LOVE that quote

Enjoyed the mix of storytelling, humour, life musings. 😊

I love your films. I’m sure the take ages to for preproduction, filming and postproduction but the result is amazing. Thank you 😊

Love this Video and your filming style :) well done 😊
Love this - so engaging! The mixture between humour and profundity was fantastic :)
Love your videos. You are a great story teller and use images, music and editing so well. It must take you ages, so thank you for what you do.
Hi, cool hike : ) , have you seen mushroom reef at low tide which is nearby?
Never thought of butterflies being fully grown caterpillars. Learn something new every day. 😄
I’m here to provide all unnecessary brain thoughts 😛
Great, again!

Awesome video Hayley! Well done!
What terrific, thoughtful and fun video.
Might need to add this hike to my to do list :D
Great vid as always young lady. Always a pleasure to catch your hike vids.
What a breathtaking cinematography my friend! You created something amazing here!
Thank you my friend! I appreciate it! :)

great to see this, sorry the birds laughed at you 🤣thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Haha the birds promised not to laugh at me in the future if I give them royalties from this video.
New vid. Great way to end the evening
Netflix officially cancelled for tonight 😛

Hi Hayley. That's a beautiful way to kick off 2025. I hope just the first of many.
Cool seeing the wild side of Aus, just as cool as seeing NZ, great vid gotta keep an ear/eye out for those ghost hikers

Nice. I love hiking in both Oz and NZ. Different beauty in both countries!
So good that we can have the best of both worlds by booking a flight!
Another great video Hayley. I really enjoy watching your hikes and you are motivating me to get moving my 69 year old Dad bod . Day hikes only to start with.🤣
Hahah I heard Dad bods were on trend a little while ago 🤣 but no harm in a good ol hike! Thank you!

Another cracker Hayley. You just don’t disappoint! 😀 Such an enjoyable hike, faithfully recorded with refreshing insights and commentary. ✊✊✊
So determined to give old mate Captain John Schank his staring moment 😛 Thanks Mike I was a little worried that this one followed the Milford Hike!

Great to see what this hike actually looks like! I’m curious what boots/shoes you are wearing? They look like a good mix of boot and trail runner..

That it does 😊
Subway should sponsor her!
Spread the word, I also think this 😛
nice 🙂
👊😀
😂😂❤❤ Great as usual
Bravo, bravo.
😀😀
Ha I knew you had a forester like me😂
The best car! 😛 I had one in New Zealand too but it had a sun roof and seat warmers I was so sad to sell it 🥲

Fully grown caterpillars 😂😂
It would be terrible if you hiked the PCT and we had to watch daily vlogs from you. Literal torture 😉
Hahaha I must uphold this future mission 🫡
Bush Ranger Bay is one of my favourite walks. If you need a car shuffle buddy then DM me.
“Scar - city” ? Or “scare - city” someone has spent too long listening to kiwis ha ha
Hahaha I still do editing for some Auckland based video production companies. Literally sitting at my desk listening to Kiwis talk 😂
