Best advice ever: "Don't assume people know what you want or are actively out to get you." This leap to conclusions can be the very thing that hinders an employee from building the relationships and making the connections with their senior leaders -- essential steps in securing a raise or promotion.
I failed to get promoted to the role I want when I applied and our big boss was part of the panel. She identified what is lacking in me and gave me feedback. Then a month after, I asked her to do my appraisal. I communicated clearly to our big boss those good intentions and that role I aspire and why during my appraisal. She set objectives for me to achieve which are necessary to develop as these are essential to the role and she is supporting and and helping me to achieve them. She noticed I am hitting those objectives and now she is creating a business plan for another post in the department, and told me the post you want is not far away, it is now being cooked and will be soon served. - It felt like the universe conspired! Thank you so much for such a wonderful leadership youtube channel.
Ms. Clarke, you have become my virtual mentor. Pure motivation. Thank you! Tell people what you want...don't assume they know. Sometimes they know and don't care. I did just that a few months ago, and I receive what is rightly mine. Too often, we lose what belongs to us because of fear or what people will think about us......
I needed to hear this. I want the promotion because I've stepped up and asked for more responsibility after my coworker left. She managed accounts that I asked for to prove my abilities. I think it's fair to be compensated for taking on more.
I am loving your videos. So glad i came across them. Fyi, your speaking voice is truly engaging and impactful. A talent in itself❤
It is😊

Wow, just wow! You are doing an awesome job. You communicate with such confidence…. There is so much to take in from this clip.

Needed this insight and reminders as I'm completing a self-evaluation in conjunction with my annual review.
Greatness!! Looking forward to this journey with you.
I love this
Thank you
The biggest part about getting promoted is to SHOW UP TO WORK. Showing up to work is a major key to getting a promotion
